    1. Re: [PACLEARF] Christmas Memories
    2. Hi, Got in on this as bit late, but would like to offer my memories of Christmas in Clearfield Co. I grew up in one of those mining villages in Clearfield Co., namely Kellytown. I was in the Class of '50 at CHS. At our 50th reunion, I mentioned to one of the guys that he probably didn't know where Kellytown was. I was right. One ritual we went through was to tramp the surrounding hills looking for a tree. Our neighbor, Jim Cupp (now deceased), showed up at home with a beautiful blue spruce. His dad was curious as to where he found it. Jim told him it was just over the hill. There was a long driveway up to their garage which was lined with trees. Next day, as Mr. Cupp was going down the driveway he noticed something didn't look right. Further checking revealed a stump where the tree had been cut. Wow, did Jim catch it! Dad was a miner, (46 years) and we never had much, but one present we always got was a new sled. With the winter they got back there, it got plenty of use. Happy holidays where ever you are. God bless. Dan Howe
