Hi Renee, Yes, the sauerkraut and dumplings do sound familiar - we love them. Mom and Dad were from the Clearfield area and Mom usually made this for New Years. Sometimes she added hot dogs to the sauerkraut and sometimes Polish sausage. I make it for my husband and me every few weeks!! (My husband's Italian so we use the turkey Italian sausage) - tastes like the real thing but with very low saturated fat.
