Hi Everyone. After all the sharing we've been doing I thought it might be pleasant to share some of our wonderful plans for this holiday season. I'm sure some of you have plans to visits from relatives or others of traveling many miles to see family you might only see once per year. I am blessed to have a very extended family of Waring researchers. I've been invited to spend part of Christmas and New Years with my very best friend Maureen Waring Newman and her family in Australia. A total of 10,203 miles one way for me. I was shocked by the invitation but couldn't pass it up. My friend is dying of Ovarian Cancer and I wouldn't turn down her request for anything. Your prayers for Mo's recovery would be greatly appreciated. So, what are you doing this holiday season? Renee Waring
Hey Everyone: Like your idea, Renee! This year we're having a double Christmas... My husband's parents, his only living sibling (sister) and her husband and 2 children are coming to Texas the weekend before Christmas. This will be the 1st time he's seen his family in 8 years, and we'll exchange gifts with them and have a big feast on the 17th before they have to head back North on the 19th. My youngest son, his wife and new baby will also be here to visit, but we'll save gifts to open with them and my other 2 sons on Christmas Day. For the "1st Christmas" we're planning on having turkey, cornbread dressing with giblet gravy, cranberry sauce, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, whole wheat rolls, buttered asparagus, minced meat pie and pecan pie. For snacking (the day before and after) we'll have a yummy meat/cheese ball with crackers, old-fashioned oatmeal/raisin cookies, and my husband's Grandma's Crumble Cookies (made from her recipe and done in her memory). For the "2nd Christmas" we'll have a baked ham, au gratin potatoes, a modified green bean casserole, whole wheat rolls, and I don't know what else yet! lol We're definitely looking forward to the get-togethers and reflect on the past years.
