He was a retired employee of Rockwell International. Born Dec. 11, 1916, in DuBois and Lavine [sic: Lavina] (Osmon [sic: Osman] Marando. He was married to Anna (Nicvich) Marando. She survives. He was a member of St. Catherine's Roman Catholic Church and a veteran of World War II where he served in the U. S. Army. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Jean A. Marando, DuBois; two sons, Thomas Marando, DuBois, and James A. Marando, DuBois; a sister, Marie Cammarata, DuBois; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. I would be interested in ancestors and descendants of Thomas W. Marando and those of his siblings. Obituary, DUBOIS COURIER-EXPRESS - SATURDAY, MAY 22, 1954 George McDowell Curry George McDowell Curry, a venerable resident of the Clear Run section, died at 7:20 o'clock this morning at DuBois Hospital after an illness of one month due to complications. An electrician by trade, Mr. Curry had resided in DuBois for 63 years, coming here in the early 90's from Redbank where he was born on May 5, 1883, the son of Jacob and Sarah J. (Buzzard) Curry. He was a member of the Church of God. His death ended a marriage span of almost 50 years, having been united in marriage with Georgia Alice Engle on Jun 7, 1901. In addition to his wife, he is survived by ten children, 26 grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. The children are: Floyd C. Curry, Lottsville, Pa.; Clarence E. Curry and J. Calvin Curry, of Erie; and George F. Curry, Mrs. Gertrude Miller, Mrs. Edith Cutman, Mrs. Dorothy Kunselman, Harry L. Curry, Mrs. Alice Uren, and Mrs. Leanore Winebert, all of DuBois. Funeral services were held Monday at the Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence, with the Rev. Kenneth Thompson officiating. Burial was in Germany Lutheran Cemetery. Military graveside rite was held by local military organizations. ======================================================== Cara Nome Nixon Cara Nome Nixon 65 of Robinson died Friday Oct. 24, 1997 at home.She was born July 11, 1932 in Fairfield Twp., a daughter of the late Thomas A. and Sadie Bess (Krouse) Stiffey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce H. Nixon; and a son, Mark Allen Nixon. She is survived by five children, Elizabeth Jean (Mrs. Terry) Hill of Home, Pa.; Bruce C. Nixon and his wife, LuAnn, of Robinson; Gregory W. Nixon and his wife, Trudy, of Armagh; Wade J. Nixon and his wife, Cynthia, of Robinson; Melissa Jane McCleary of Clymer; 11 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; three great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; five brothers, Thomas Joseph Stiffey of New Florence RD 1; Terry Stiffey of Bolivar RD1; Dennis Stiffey of New Florence; James Aaron Stiffey and Darrel Clayton Stiffey, both of Bolivar RD 1; and a sister, Sadie McElwee of Luzernemines. Brother of Elizabeth J., married to Terry Hill, Marion Center, Bruce E., married to former LuAnn Shearer, Robinson; Gregory, married to former Trudy Howard, New Florence; Wade James, South Carolina; and Melissa, wife of Richard McCleary, Germany. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, New Florence, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, the Rev. Kenneth E. Thompson.
