Alan, I am glad for all your work and hope to find time to read it someday. Actually did start some on the last book. My main line is KIRK which married into several of the names you list on your line. Most all my Clearfield County line go back to the MD, PA, DE, and VA border. The KIRKs were Quakers and for most part married Quakers into the 1800s. The MD and VA lines were not Quaker and came into Clearfield County after the Revolution for the land. Barbara, Were any of your Dutch ancestors in Lancaster Co.? We are only about an hour from there and take days trips into that area fairly regularly so I'd be happy to look for any landmarks that would be of interest and snap a pic for you. Hello! Can someone please steer me to information about the Berry family in Pennsylvania? I mean other than the standard Ancestry.com-type sources. I would be very appreciative. My grandfather, Thomas Berry fro Morrisdale PA, Clearfield County, was a coal miner. My Grandmother, Sidonia Moreau Berry, was originally from France. Any information you can share related to this family would be very much appreciated. Thanks! .........Grant Berry Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience. - Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882) U.S. poet and essayist What this country needs are more unemployed politicians. - Edward Langley, Artist (1928 - 1995) SURGE OUR TROOPS HOME !!! ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

Hi, My grandfather John TARR was Listed in 1880 United States Census residing in Decatur Township, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania with his brother George and their parents, John & Harriett TARR, all born in England. He is listed as a 13 year old mine worker. I am looking for any information (other than the 1880 census). If anyone can help me out with any additional reference to them in any other source, such as church records, tax records, newspaper items, immigration records or anything else you may have at hand, I would really appreciate it. Thanks for any help, Carol ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

Hi: My great grandfather, Patrick McCartney, owned the McCartney House; after his death in 1903, his wife Mary applied for the license, then his son, Patrick did. It is my understanding sometime they sold the McCartney house to a Rusnak. Son, Patrick, applied for Wholesale Liquor License, then went to coal miner and finally worked on the railroad in Altoona and Pittsburgh. I'm just curious as to when Patrick, Sr. as a coal miner in the 1880's in Morris Twp; decided to use the house as a boarding home/rooming house with liquor. Through my many hours of looking through microfilm's of the Clearfield Republican I never saw an advertisement of the McCartney House. The Clearfield Republican did publish the applicants and then those that were granted or refused every year. The first I found was in 1891 for Patrick, Sr. I have sporadic years of the McCartney's applications listed in the Clearfield Republican. ________________________________________________________________________ AOL now offers free email to everyone. Kathy. Who was your grandfather and where was his hotel? I know old issues of the Centre Democrat have notices about the issuances of liquor licenses in Centre County, but I don't know about the Clearfield Progress. paclearf-request@rootsweb.com wrote: >Today's Topics: > > 1.
