A kind lady did this look up for me thanks again Pam P :) Indiana Evening Gazette Wed. Aug. 17, 1921 Obit BLAIRSVILLE RESIDENT DEAD George Scott Lowman, 69 Years Old. Succumbed Tuesday Afternoon Following Long Period of Ill-Health. BURIAL THURSDAY George Scott Lowman of Blairsville died yesterday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, aged about 69 years. The son of William and Nancy Lowman of Armstrong Twp., he was born and raised on the homestead about a mile and a half North of Jacksonville. He was married to Rachel Black and to this union five children were born, of whom three with the widow, survive. In his earlier years he followed railroading and while an employee he lost an arm. For some time his health has been failing and his demise was not unexpected. The funeral will be held at his late residence on Thursday, August 18, at 2:30 P.M. with the Rev. Dr. R. E. McClure officiating. Interment will follow in the Blairsville cemetery. ============================================== Indiana weekly Messenger Thursday May 23, 1929 Edwin H. Lowman Funeral services were held on Friday at the home for Edwin H. Lowman aged 48 years, of Blairsville, who died on Tuesday evening of last week at the Indiana Hospital. The deceased, who was a locomotive engineer, was stricken with an acute attack of Bright's disease while at the throttle on the Saturday previous to his death, and at Torrance station he was unable to continue the run. He was taken to his home in a semiunconscious condition and later brought here to the hospital. He was one of the efficient and trusted engineers of the Pennsylvania railroad and during his service of 27 years took great pride in bringing his train in on time. On his last run his train was 25 minutes late in leaving Pittsburgh, but he made up 21 minutes when the train reached Torrance, where his fireman completed the run, arriving at Blairsville only four minutes behind time. The deceased enjoyed a large friendship and leaves a host of friends who mourn his sudden passing. He leaves his widow, four sons, William, Albert, Edwin and Russell, and a daughter, Mrs. Marie Rickard, also his mother, Mrs. Rachel Lowman, and two sisters, Mrs. Martha Hay, of Tarentum, and Mrs. Carrie McLaughlin of East McKeesport.

Oh I will print this out and give it to Rebecca, She would be so pleased to hear about someone remembering her brother. She is such a nice lady, I really am enjoying helping her remember. Her husband Willard Hart was the son of Peter Hart born about 1876 in England and Sara born about 1886 PA. They were also from that area. Thank You Colleen
Sharon: Next time you get to visit this elderly cousin, you may want to take a tape recorder and ask her permission if you may tape your "interview" with her. Just ask a few key questions, and you (and she) may be surprised at how lengthy the interview may turn out to be! I did this with my Mom a few times when she wanted to reminisce and it really helped not having to scribble undecipherable things. Boy, does this bring back memories. I went to Curwensville HS in the 1960s. Arch Johnstone was the beloved perfectionist choir director and guidance counselor. He had played in a military band during his service time and gave private brass horn music lessons. His wife's brother was a druggist who had his own shop on the main street of Curwensville. Her father was Edward Gulielmi 1900-1976. He was a master stone architect born in Isernia Italy. He spent some of his most productive years working the Roaring Run Stone Quarry just east of Curwensville. Ed Morgan, son of Jack Morgan and Mary O'Donoghe, wrote Quarries of Curwensville, The People, The Legacy. The book was sold at the 1999 bicentennial of Curwensville and a copy can most likely be gotten from the Curwensville Historical Society. I'm trying to find the death dates so I can order the death certificates for her. She can't remember when they died or where they are buried and I thought that would help. Her father was born in Scotland and her mother was born in Wales. . Alliene Johnstone is her sister-in-law, she remembered her and her maiden name. She didn't mention Thomas Beechey who died recently but he is related to her. I'll print the obituary and give it to her, it is nice that there is a picture to go with it. Wow, you have given me a lot of information for her. I was feeling bad that I haven't found much for her yet. Her family being from Scotland and Wale so recently makes it harder. Most of the ladies we are helping have gotten back further than Rebecca's so far... Thanks! Colleen
Thank You for the wonderful newsclipping Rebecca will love these. Colleen
Colleen, are you aware that one of Rebecca's relatives passed away recently? http://www.thompson-miller.com/obituaries2/beechey_thomas/beechey_thomas .htm Is this Arch's wife? Social security death index: ALLIENE JOHNSTONE born 10 May 1890; died Apr 1979; last residence 85020 (Phoenix, Maricopa, AZ); last benefit 85020 (Phoenix, Maricopa, AZ); ssn 168-03-6154 Pennsylvania Are you still looking for death dates in order to get the death certificates for Beechey and Johnstone? Or are you just wondering if the state will let you order them for Rebecca, in light of the state form asking for you to declare your relationship to the deceased on the order form? -----Original Message----- From: paclearf-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:paclearf-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Colleen Waggle Sent: Tuesday, May 15, 2007 3:23 PM To: paclearf@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [PACLEARF] Fw: Beechey/Johnstone Hi, Arch Johnstone in that newsclipping Clearfield Progress, Saturday June 11, 1960, page 2 HELLO, WORLD! This Arch was the brother of Rebecca Johnstone. Her father is also Arch Johnstone. I'd love to be able to get Edwin Beechey or Arch Johnstone's and wive's death certificates for Rebecca. I'd have them back one more generation for her. Is there a Tombstone inscription book that I could buy that would have her family in? I'm from Ohio and Pa... Is a little different for researching. My husband found out that he was helping a 5th cousin once removed and that she was already in our family tree. Our society received a grant from our area's hospital to do this project. We have to account for all money spent, & we have made workbooks to help out in getting started. We asked the local nursing home activities director if anyone would be interested and we went to the nursing home and talked to a few women. We now have 5 ladies in wheelchairs that the nursing home comes to the research room each Friday and we have one volunteer for each lady. We where surprised by how much everyone is enjoying this including the volunteers. Most are unable to write and are a little hard of hearing so we do the writing in the workbooks and you would be surprised at how much they remember by just showing them census records and such. It really helps jog their memory. We plan on having a few volunteers go to the nursing home and help record the memories for those interested but can't get out to our research room. Sorry for that. I hit the wrong button accidentally. I went through this cousin's photo album with her a few years back, when her memory was better, but now her memory is much more fuzzy, and she's the oldest surviving member of my mother's side of the family that I can have contact with (long standing family feud, the origins of which are not clear to me), to my knowledge. A few months ago, a friend of my step mom went to visit this cousin with my step mom, showed her pictures of a trip her family had taken, and my cousin began suddenly reminiscing about trips she'd taken with her family years ago. I've never heard any of this from her, but I'd love to. So, I, also would like to know how you are doing this. My cousin is very hard of hearing, and my voice pitch is close to impossible for her to understand, which makes things even harder.
