    2. Why don't you try The Progress? Com they are still in business and may have files. The Joseph and Elizabeth Shaw in Clearfield has a nice genealogy section and helpful people. Also Clearfield has a historical society which is accessible by e-mail. I do not know what they charge for lookups, but they do say they have people who will do them. Another way is to contact the Centre County Historical Society in Bellefonte, Pa. Philipsburg is actually in both counties. If your people were into Clearfield County before 1830 or so chances are good that they lived in Centre County for a time and had relatives there. 3. Hi everyone, I'm trying to research my family that were from Morrisdale and Philipsburg (Centre Co), PA. I've found the 'Clearfield Progress' on Ancestry.com. I've found quite a few ancestors/relatives mentioned in the paper, but haven't found a couple obituaries that I thought may be listed. Does anyone know of any other papers that service that area? I'm mainly looking for two obituaries from 1944, for Mike Gillotte and his wife Rose Gillotte. Thanks in advance for any responses, Sara _________________________________________________________________ Missed the show?  Watch videos of the Live Earth Concert on MSN. http://liveearth.msn.com

    3. I'm not sure, but maybe St Agnes Catholic Church is what you are looking for. I have many members of my family that attended and are buried there. I know it is in Morrisdale, but I don't know if it is off Rt 53 (I've never been there). -----Original Message----- From: paclearf-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:paclearf-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of GreatBerr@aol.com Sent: Wednesday, July 25, 2007 12:24 PM To: paclearf@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [PACLEARF] WHITAKER headstones Hello! Where was Catherine in 1870 Census - I think I've looked with all the children, and for her alone and can't find her. 3. Any information about where in Lancaster County Robert may be from? I have a trip to Lancaster County this Thursday and don't know what to look for! He is not in John Humphrey's book on Lancaster County births. 1. [PACLEARF] Thomas Baughman accident
    2. This has the date of 1934 written in ink on the top. MAN INJURED IN MINE EXPLOSION Thomas Baughman of Blue Ball sustained painful injuries when carbide gas is exploded by lamp flame. Thomas Baughman, aged 49, of Blue Ball, had a narrow excape from death this, (Tuesday), morning in a mine explosion accident which caused him to suffer painful injuries and rendered him unconscious for several hours. The accident occured at about 8 a.m. at Mr. Baughman's mine which is located two miles from Blue Ball in the direction of Morgan Run. Mr. Baughman had placed a dozen dynamite caps in a can of carbide to keep them dry. Apparently water had dropped into the carbide and generated gas for when his carbide lamp came near the carbide the gas exploded. The force of the explosion threw him back about eight feet. He sustained lacerations; fragments of the dynamite caps penetrated both legs, his left arm, chest and face. He was unconscious for several hours and was treated at his home by Dr. W. R. Heaton of Philipsburg. Mr Baughman's son, Alvin, who was with him at the time of the accident, was uninjured. ________________________________________________________________________ AOL now offers free email to everyone. 2. Just a note, I went to school in Clearfield and lived in Lumber City. We visit the cemeteries their a couple times a year. All the names you mentioned are familiar to me. Kind of a coincidence. Donna ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour

    3. Doreen, Where you at Centre Cemetery in Lawrence Twp just south of Hyde? We are almost finished with the on-line inventory at USGenWeb for Clearfield County. When that is finished I will be sending pictures of many tombstones to Ellis Michaels so he can load them on the site. There are two pictures there now, one of the sign and the other of the plaque. I see many names in your list which are in Centre Cemetery.
