Bell, 85, of Shippenville, died Saturday evening, May 9, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in Shippenville. She was born on Sept. 23, 1923. She married to Scott L. Bell, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Bell enjoyed crossword puzzles, singing and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include four sons, Scott L. Bell, Jr. of Knox, Terry Bell of Knox, Ron Bell and his wife, Jan, of McKean and Ken Bell and his wife, Glenda, of Shippenville; two daughters, Mary Arnold and her husband, Richard, of Bryan, Texas, and Sara Cotherman and her husband, Charles, of St. Petersburg; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Elsie; and a brother, John. There will be no visitation, and funeral services will be private. Dolphin, 78, of the Golden Living Center in Oil City passed away at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009, at UPMC Northwest, Seneca, following an extended illness. She formerly resided at 24 Edgewood Drive. Born Nov. 8, 1930, in Oil City, she was a daughter of the late John Thomas and Germaine Lynam Dolphin. She was a 1948 graduate of St. Joseph High School. She was a member of St. Joseph Church and was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She and the late Mrs. Jeanne Lynch co-chaired the CD of A newsletter for many years. Miss Dolphin was also a former member of St. Joseph Parish Council. She worked for 40 years as an executive secretary, starting with Pennsylvania Telephone Co., then General Telephone Co, which became GTE. She retired in 1995 from Verizon in Oil City. She had also worked for a short time in Erie. Mary was a life member of the Colonel Drake Telephone Pioneers and was also a member of AARP. She also enjoyed golfing. Surviving are a sister, Margaret Klosinski of Oil City; and nieces and nephews, Joanne and Greg Wagner of McDonald, Karen Butts of Erie, U.S. Navy Cmdr. Jean Murray and Paul of Alexandria, Va., Sue and Martin Suleski of Harrisburg, John T. and Louanne Dolphin of Butler, James A. Dolphin of Gibsonia, Anne and Kevin Sheridan of Philadelphia. Survivors also include great-nieces and great-nephews, Halle, Alex, Ashley, Christopher, Hannah, Cara and Kyle. She was preceded by two brothers, John " Jack" Dolphin and Thomas J. Dolphin; sister-in-law, Jean Dolphin; an infant sister, Helen Marie Dolphin; and a brother-in-law, Joe Klosinski. Fleming, 95, formerly of the Liberty Towers Apartments in Clarion, died Sunday, May 10, 2009, at the Golden Living Center in Clarion. Born Jan. 8, 1914, in Clarion, she was the daughter of Albert Kahle and Clara McLain Kahle, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Fleming was a homemaker and worked as an aide. McFarland, 37, of Tidioute Enterprise Road, Tidioute, died early Saturday morning, May 9, 2009. Born April 4, 1972, in Warren, he was a 1991 graduate of West Forest High School. He served for four years in the U.S. Army and received the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Noncommissioned Officer's Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, and the Expert Marksmanship Badge. He had worked as a machinist at the Precision Tool Works. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and snowmobiles and hunting. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Tom ( Bonnie ) Fox of Tidioute; two children, Austin G. McFarland of West Hickory, and Logan C. Morehead, of Ann Arbor, Mich. Survivors also include two sisters, Holly Brown and her companion, Keith Bartel, of Youngsville, and Tonia McCanna, of West Hickory; a brother, Mike McFarland and his wife, Jill, of Kennedy, N.Y.; two stepbrothers, Tom Fox and his wife, Mindy, of Tidioute, and Tim Fox and his wife, Robin, of Clarion; and several nieces and nephews. Richard James McNaughton, 87, of McNaughton Road, Rimersburg, passed away at 1 p.m. Saturday May 9, 2009, at his home following a period of failing health. Born Oct. 23, 1921, in Madison Township, Clarion County, he was a son of the late William Andrew McNaughton and Alice Hiles McNaughton. Mr. McNaughton attended schools at Van Port and Kissinger Mills in Clarion County. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army Combat Engineers in the European Theatre of Operations. He was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and in his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and his vegetable and flower gardens. He was well known throughout the area for his ability to divine water wells and coined the expression, "Wells galore since 74." He was married on Sept. 6, 1947, at St. Richard Roman Catholic Church in Rimersburg to the former Maxine J. Courson, who survives. Survivors also include 11 sons, James M. McNaughton of Tucson, Ariz., Kenneth McNaughton and wife, Sharon, of Butler, Karl A. McNaughton of Rimersburg, Michael E. McNaughton and wife, Kate, of Rimersburg, Edward P. McNaughton of Tucson, Ariz., Joseph D. McNaughton of Callensburg, Neal P. McNaughton of East Brady, Richard M. McNaughton and wife, Denise, of Rimersburg, Frank C. McNaughton and friend, Shanin Shick, of Rimersburg, Keith G. McNaughton and wife, Tricia, of Parker, and Dale F. McNaughton of Tucson, Ariz.; and two daughters, Rita J. Miller, 72, of 195 Rynd Farm Road, Oil City, died Sunday morning May 10, 2009, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born Aug. 28, 1936, at Grand Valley, he was a son of the late George and Martha Eakin Miller. Mr. Miller attended the Spartansburg High School. He was employed as a truck driver for various companies including Mushroom, Erie Pitt, Warner Smith and Pennzoil, retiring from Pennzoil in 1996. He was a member of the Coon Hunters Club in Oil City. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. He was married Aug. 7, 1954, at Centerville, to Anna Rogers, who survives. Survivors also include a son, Wayne Miller and his wife, Cynthia, of Springfield, Va.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters, Barbara List and Eleanor Roessner, both of Titusville, Alice Hancox and husband, Jim, of Blooming Valley, and Judy Winkleman and husband, Randy, of Hydetown; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons, Richard, Alan and Kenneth Miller; four brothers, Clarence "Bill" Miller, George "Jerry" Miller Jr., Richard Miller and Wayne Miller; and three sisters, Margaret Shrout, Marilyn Savitz and Betty Miller. Mary Pattison Mitchell, 75, of Graham Avenue, Brookville, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2009, surrounded by her loving family at DuBois Regional Medical Center, DuBois. Born Aug. 25, 1933, in Punxsutawney, she was the daughter of Asahel and Mary Walsh Pattison. She was a 1951 graduate of Sts. Cosmos and Damien School in Punxsutawney. She then worked for Bell Telephone as an operator until 1959. She was married on Sept. 1, 1956, in Sts. Cosmos and Damien Church in Punxsutawney to Melvin A. Mitchell, who survives. They moved in 1965 to Brookville, where they raised six children and Mary lovingly cared for her home and family. She was known as "Ma" by her grandchildren and the many others she embraced as family. Mrs. Mitchell was a devoted Catholic and daily prayed her rosary. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Brookville. Her family was her greatest joy. She also enjoyed reading, trips to Myrtle Beach with her husband, and visiting with friends and family. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sisters, Barbara Blase and Gretchen Pattison, both of Punxsutawney; and six children, Melvin Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Louisville, Ky., Mary Ann Fields and husband, Larry, of Charlottesville, Va., Maggie Montana and husband, Stan, of Fryburg, Michele Hetrick and special friend, Al Davis, Mark and his wife, Sheila, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Matthew and wife, Tammy, of Knox. Also surviving are grandchildren Emily and Shane Himes, Jarred Hetrick, Derek Kerr, Gabe and Tessa Montana, and Melia (Montana) Hook and husband, Don, and Marcus, Matthew, Carly, Christian and Casey Mitchell. Mrs. Mitchell was anticipating her first great-grandchild in June. Survivors also include stepgrandchildren, Laurel, Linden, Andrew, Hannah, Linden Jr., Kaydance, Jason, Chad, Dustin, Shawn, Campbell and Braydon. Murrin, 92, of Shippenville, died Friday, May 8, 2009, at the Golden Living Center in Shippenville. Born Nov. 28, 1916, in Murrinsville, he was the son of Paul and Blanche Wilson Murrin. Mr. Murrin graduated from Concord Township High School as valedictorian of the Class of 1935. A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army as a combat engineer and was involved with the liberation of the Philippines. Mr. Murrin was a self-employed building contractor. He was of the Catholic faith. He was a charter member of the Paul W. Wood VFW Post No. 7840 of Hilliards and was a former member of the Shippenville-Elk Volunteer Fire Company and the Shippenville Water Authority. Survivors include two step-sons, John Bailey and his wife, Marlene, of Sherman, Texas, and James Bailey and his wife, Pam, of Mercer; and a step-daughter, Kathy Bailey of Shippenville. Also surviving are a brother, Don Murrin of North Washington; and two sisters, Margaret Moser of Ducanville, Texas, and Rose Mary Murrin of Butler. Survivors also include three step-granddaughters, Martina, Tracy and Cassie; three step-grandsons, Joe, Mike and Jeff; four step-great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Maelyn, Hanna and Christopher; and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty Eileen Pryor, 82, of Long Lane West, Rimersburg, passed away at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Clarion Hospital, following a brief illness. Born June 19, 1927, in Mayport, Redbank Township, Clarion County, she was a daughter of the late Merle A. Eshbaugh and Velma A. McMaster Eshbaugh. She graduated from Rimersburg High School in 1945 and was a 1951 graduate of Clarion State Teachers College. She taught elementary school at Conneration and Sandy Hollow and was the last school teacher at Conneration before it closed. She had a longtime affiliation with the Baker Street Church of God in Rimersburg and served as the Sunday school treasurer, was a member of the women's missionary society and the Busy B. Sunday school class. She was a member of the Veteran's Park Committee and the Eccles Lesher Library committee and was awarded the Citizen of the Year award by the Rimersburg Chamber of Commerce for her efforts. She was married Nov. 21, 1945, to John W. Pryor, who survives. Survivors also include four sons, Dean William Pryor and wife, Melody, of Carwick, Dr. Leroy Edward Pryor and wife, Madelene, of Brookville, Alan Lynn Pryor and wife, Donna, of Parker, and Scott John Pryor and wife, Brenda, of Cortland, Ohio; and one daughter, Joyce McClafferty and husband, J. Kevin, of Hookstown. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, David Pryor of Wheeling, W.Va., Andrew Lee Pryor of Parker, Nicholas Alan Pryor of Parker, Paul T. Pryor of Brookville, Timothy N. Born June 16, 1950, in Monarch, Madison Township, Clarion County, she was a daughter of the late Clarence August Weaver and Ida Jane Burt Weaver. She was a 1968 graduate of the East Brady High School. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, embroidery and spending time with her family and friends. She had been employed in the custodial department of Farmers Bank in East Brady. She is survived by her husband, Richard Douglas Seybert; two daughters, Jennifer Bowser and husband, Kenneth, of Rimersburg, and Melissa Watterson and husband, Michael, of Brookville; a son, Jonathan Allen Best of West Freedom; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Survivors also include six brothers, James, Harry, William, Phillip, Stanley and Larry Weaver; four sisters, Bargara Weaver Valassich, Dolores Long and husband, Sunny, Maxine Stockdill and husband, William, and Valjean Bartley; and her mother-in-law, Mrs Bernice M. Seybert of Rimersburg. She was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Leland Best on June 22, 2006; two sisters, Betty Murray and Gloria Rice in January 2009; and her father-in-law, Richard Glenn Seybert on Jan. 13, 2006. Fourth St., Oil City, went to the Lord while surrounded by her family at 5:37 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Born Sept. 3, 1924, in Stotfold, England, she was the daughter of the late Wilford and Gladys Waldock Wilsher. Mrs. Staab was educated at St. Mary's School for girls in Stotfold. During World War II, she worked in the aircraft department at Kryn & Layh Co. in Letchworth and at Kayser Bondor in Boldock, England. She met the love of her life, Charles H. Staab Jr., during World War II. They were married by the Rev. Michael Kennedy on July 8, 1944, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Shefford, England. He preceded her in death on April 17, 2007. Edie was a member of St. Joseph Church, where she sang in the choir. She also sang in the choir at St. Stephen Church. She enjoyed reading, history, flowers, crossword puzzles and corresponding with friends and family in England. Surviving are three children and their spouses, Dr. Charles H. Staab III and his wife, Nancy, of Hilton Head Island , S.C., Margaret "Meg" Ochalek and husband, Ron, of Oil City, and Mary E. Marshall and husband, David, of Cranberry Township, Butler County. Survivors also include eight grandchildren, Charles H. Staab IV and wife, Kristen, of Castle Rock, Colo,., Melanie Ribar and husband, David, of Charlotte, N.C., Matthew Staab and wife, Molly, of Greenville, S.C., Pamela Balas and husband, Dick, of Warren, Brian Kissinger and wife, Amy, of Willowick, Ohio, Matthew Ochalek and wife, Jessica, of Erie, Joshua Marshall and wife, Cathy, of Baton Rouge, La., and Caleb Marshall and wife, Julie, of Evans City. Also surviving are 10 great-grandchildren, Olivia and William Staab, Samuel Ribar, Janele, Owen and Lydia Balas, Maryssa, Madisyn and McKenzye Kissinger, and Brigid Ochalek. Mrs. Staab is also survived by a sister-in-law and her husband, Gertrude and John James of Oil City; sister in-law Shirley Wilshire; and a special cousin Doris Jones and her husband, Ron, and a lifelong friend, Barb Savory, all of England. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by a brother, W. Sidney Wilshire; and a sister, Margaret Mudd, both of England; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in this country. Robert Bruce Vincent, 80, German Hill Road, Tionesta, died Saturday, May 9, 2009, at his home after an extended illness. Born June 25, 1928, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Harry J. and Dorothy Potts Vincent. He lived in the Tionesta area his whole life. During World War II, he served in the Merchant Marines. He retired after 33 years as a foreman with Crater Manufacturing of Tionesta. He was a life member of the Sheffield Rod and Gun Club, loved playing pool and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was married to Ruth J. Miller Vincent, who preceded him in death on June 7, 1997. Survivors include two daughters, Connie L. McIntyre, of Bradenton, Fla., and Bonnie Wojtczak, of Little Genesee, N.Y.; two sons, Jerry E. Vincent of Tionesta, and Robert J. Vincent of Union City; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. He is also survived by two brothers, Frederick Eugene Vincent of Tionesta and Earl Vincent of Pleasantville; and a sister, Mrs. William ( June ) Schwabenbauer. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Jessica Renee Vincent, Tina Marie Krizanik and Ruth Marie McIntyre. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the James M. Higgins Funeral Home, 3 Elm St., Tidioute. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Mount Zion Lutheran Church, German Hill Road, Tionesta, with the Rev. Samuel Mabugu officiating.
