    3. The Derrick, May 1, 2009: Joan Shawkey Dolk, Rio Rancho, N.M., formerly of Polk Louise G. Jordan, Clarion Mary Louise Komidar Miller, Vowinckel Ronald Walentoski, 669 Hill City Road, Cranberry Getting it right - Cody Lane McCartney Joan Shawkey Dolk, 79, of Rio Rancho, N.M., formerly of Polk, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009, in Rio Rancho. She was a 1947 graduate of Franklin High School. Louise G. Jordan, 94, a former Clarion resident, died Thursday, April 30, 2009, at Golden Living Center in Clarion. The Goble Funeral Home and Crematory in Clarion is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published Saturday in The Derrick. Mary Louise Komidar Miller, 56, of Vowinckel, passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, in Clarion Hospital. Born April 15, 1953, in Kane, she was the daughter of John Jack and Stephie Stella Kandare Komidar. She was married March 22, 1986, to Richard M. Miller, and he preceded her in death March 4, 1991. Mrs. Miller graduated in 1971 from Kane High School. She previously was employed at Sylvania in Warren and also worked as a nursing aide at Snyder Memorial in Marienville. She was a member of St. Mary Church in Crown. She enjoyed being a devoted mother, spending time with her family, reading and outdoor activities. She is survived by her mother, Stephie Komidar of Kane; and two children, Gina M. and Richard C. Miller, both at home. She also is survived by five sisters, Linda Wener and her husband, Don, of Wilcox, Katharine Pude and her husband, Bill, of Bradford, Ann Dobrin and her husband, Jim, of Pittsburgh, Rose Johnson and her husband, Ken, of Kane and Virginia Carrow and her husband, Craig, of Wilcox; two brothers, John Komidar and his wife, Jackie, of Pittsburgh and Frank Komidar and his wife, Lisa, of Philipsburg; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her father, John Komidar, and her husband, Richard Miller. Friends and family may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Borland Funeral Home Inc. in Leeper. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Mary Church in Crown with the Rev. Gregory Passauer as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the American Cancer Society. Ronald Walentoski, 60, of 669 Hill City Road, Cranberry, died unexpectedly Thursday, April 30, 2009, at his home. The Reinsel Funeral Home & Crematory in Oil City is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published in The Derrick at a later time. Getting it right - Cody Lane McCartney Cody Lane McCartney, 19-day-old, beloved infant son of Shannon Hetes and John McCartney of Polk, went home to be with the Lord at 3:08 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at UPMC Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh. Among his survivors is a brother, Shane Hetes.
