Frazer, East Brady Jo Ann Murphy, Clarion Linda Ann Gleghorn memorial Saturday Verly "Jean" Allen, 79, of 1 Sycamore St., Oil City, died at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2009, at UPMC-Montefiore in Pittsburgh following a short illness. Born Jan. 10, 1930, in Siverly, she was the daughter of the late Harry Leroy and Hazel Allen. She was a 1948 graduate of Oil City High School. Miss Allen worked as a nurses aide at the Oil City Hospital for 43 years. She had been a member of the Bethel Methodist Church in Siverly. She enjoyed watching old western movies and playing bingo and pokino. She is survived by three cousins, Harlene Carroll, Ellen Carroll and Peggy Southwell; a special friend, Peggy Staub of Titusville; and a sister-in-law, Nedith Allen of Oil City. In addition to her parents, Miss Allen was preceded in death by one sister, Nellie Arlene Allen Walz; and twin brothers, Ken and Keith Allen. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Reinsel Funeral Home and Crematory in Oil City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Drake, 69, of 912 Allegheny Ave., Oil City, died at 7:35 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. Born Oct. 5, 1939, in Erie, he was the son of Dr. and Mrs. F.A. Drake. Mr. Drake graduated in 1957 from Strong Vincent High School of Erie and in 1961 from Allegheny College of Meadville. He was marrried in 1960 to the former Mary Jane Montgomery, whom he met at Chautauqua, and she survives. He served in the Pennsylvania National Guard. Mr. Drake worked for Crawford and Co. as an insurance adjuster in Erie and Oil City for 30 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he was an ordained deacon and elder and where he also sang in the church choir. Mr. Drake was an active member of the Oil City Lions Club and served as president. He had also been a member of the Oil City Club and the Oil City Boat Club. He enjoyed socializing with friends at the daily coffee club in Oil City, playing golf, spending time at Chautauqua, flower gardening after his retirement and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include two sons of whom he was very proud, Christopher M. Drake of Pittsburgh and David Jonathan Drake of Oil City; and a sister-in-law, Martha Teich of Oregon. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in the church with the Rev. Joseph E. Filer IV, D. Min., officiating. Interment will be in Cambridge Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, First Presbyterian Church or the Golden Living Center of Oil City. Frazer, 86, of East Brady, went to be with the Lord at 4:55 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sligo. Born Nov. 17, 1922, in Brookville, she was the daughter of Daniel amd Carolyn Johnston Rhodes, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married March 21, 1942, to John Frazer, who preceded her in death. Mrs Frazer enjoyed being a homemaker. She raised four children and created a home where friends were always welcome. She loved reading and corresponding with friends, including those in missions in India, who she supported for many years. She also loved helping in her church where she often played the piano. Mrs. Frazer is survived by a son, Rodney D. Frazer and his wife, Janice, of Jonestown; and three daughters, Patricia Frazer Henry and her husband, Walter, of Parker, Jonette Frazer Wiles of East Brady and Janice Frazer Mong and her husband, John, of West Monterey. Also surviving are two sisters, T. Jean Rhodes and Carol Rodes Wrighter of Hadley; two brothers, Daniel Rhodes and his wife, Joann, of McKeesport and Edward Rhodes and his wife, Thyra, of Brookville; eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Aldine McKendree; a brother-in-law, Claire McKendree; and a son-in-law Tim G. Wiles. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home, 758 Main St., Rimersburg. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm. Interment will be in Bradys Bend Cemetery. Jo Ann Murphy, 68, of Clarion, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 27, 2009, at Clarion Hospital. Born May 25, 1941, in Kellersburg, she was the daughter of Glenn Henry and Dorothy LaRue Harmon McGuire. Mrs. Murphy attended Redbank Valley High School. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Murphy was of the Methodist faith. She enjoyed crocheting, baking and ceramics. She also enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with her grandchildren and family. Mrs. Murphy is survived by a daughter, Suanne Carol Atkinson and her husband, Jeff, of Mechanicsville; a son, Richard Earl Murphy of Guys Mills; and four grandchildren, Jeffrey William Coull, Michael Wooley, Elizabeth Ann Coull and Joey Murphy. She is also survived by three brothers, Donald McGuire and his wife, Susanne, of Fairmount City, David McGuire and his wife, Sheila, of York, and Gary McGuire and his wife, Mae, of Middleburg; three sisters, Betty Raybuck and her husband, Dennis, of Shippenville, Shirley Fike and her husband, Allen, of Clarion, and Mary Jean McGuire of Lickingville; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Randy McGuire. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the Robert V.
