DeMaison, Littles Corners, Crawford County Betty Rae Erwin, Kennerdell Patricia McGuckin, Mercer Road, Franklin Helen G. Prynt, Lawrence Park, Erie, formerly of Oil City Ruth D. Thompson, Jefferson Manor, Brookville, formerly of Bills Road, Brookville Getting it right - Kitty J. Allen Reddinger Norma Jean Crawford, 79, of Mercer, formerly of Enterprise, died at 2 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at Countryside Convalescent Home. Born July 12, 1929, she was the daughter of Fred Hedglin and Iva McKenzie. Mrs. Crawford was married in December 1949 to Willard T. Crawford, and he preceded her in death Aug. 28, 1996. Mrs. Crawford was a homemaker. She is survived by a daughter, Linda Thomas and her husband, Mark, of New Castle; three sons, Thomas Crawford and his wife, Susan, of New Castle, Terry Crawford of Austintown, Ohio, and Alan Crawford and his wife, Paula, of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, Robert Hedglin of Franklin; one sister, Wanda Sayers of Franklin; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Crawford was preceded in death by one son, Steven Crawford; one grandson, Shawn Crawford; two brothers, Evan and Walter Hedglin; and one sister, Fern Coon. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. in New Castle. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Charles Fombelle of Calvary Independent Church will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Calvary Independent Church, 424 E. Moody Ave., New Castle, 16105. Daniel E. DeMaison, 69, of Littles Corners, Crawford County, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at his residence. He was born Feb. 16, 1939, in Meadville, a son of the late Kenneth L. and Helen Heme DeMaison. He married Susan Smith on Jan. 10, 1964. Mr. DeMaison was a 1957 graduate of Meadville High School and attended the former Alliance College in Cambridge Springs. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1961-1962. He worked at Talon in Meadville as a tool and die maker for 30 years. Mr. DeMaison is a life member and past director of the Pioneer Gas and Steam Engine Society, and he enjoys antique tractors, camping, fishing and boating. He was of the Protestant faith. Mr. DeMaison is survived by three children, Jeffrey James DeMaison and his wife, Sharon, of Meadville, Kevin Charles DeMaison and his wife, Paula, of Meadville, and Sheryl Ann Paiani and her husband, Bob, of Manassas, Va., and three sisters, Dorothy Hansen and her husband, Jens, of Bountiful, Utah, Beverly Riggins of Marrietta, Ga., and Marilyn Gurgiola and her husband, Anthony, of Wexford. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Giovanni Paiani, Alexander DeMaison, Austin Scott, Amber Scott, Anthony Severo, Andrew Severo, Douglas Alexander, Joshua Alexander and Gregory Alexander; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Littles Corners United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Tom Kennedy, the church pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Denny Cemetery. Betty Rae Erwin, 76, of Kennerdell, is continuing her journey as of Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, to a better place. She was loved and will be missed greatly. Born Nov. 24, 1931 in Bolivar, Westmoreland County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Earl and Jessie Pearl Johns Thomas. Mrs. Erwin enjoyed working as an aide at Polk Center where she retired from in 1990. She also sold Avon products for many years and was in the Avon Presidents' Club much of that time. Mrs. Erwin loved to bake. She enjoyed selling and giving her baked goods to people who enjoyed receiving them. She also loved bowling and received many awards and trophies. Mrs. Erwin enjoyed sitting on her deck or in the dining area to watch the wildlife that came into her backyard; this gave her peace. She had a great love for her pets and she loved to read. Surviving is a daughter, Donna Jean Conrad Junkin, of Arizona; four sons and daughters-in-law, John and Norma Conrad, of Seward; Tom and Sandy Decker, of Titusville; Myles Decker and Tammy Krupitzer, of Franklin; Wayne Decker, of Kennerdell, and his fiancée, Vicki LaVan, of Oil City; a brother, Gene Thomas, of Stahlstown; a sister, Ella Faye Thomas Keismore, of Cleveland, Ohio; her first husband, John Conrad, of Loyal Hanna Care Center in Latrobe; 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Erwin is also survived by dear friends Dennie Sass, Dick and Linda Fox, Ralph Main, Janie McCrery, Gene and Irene Thomas, and many other friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Erwin was preceded in death by her last three husbands, Logan Decker, Myles Decker and Charles Erwin; two brothers, DeWayne Thomas, who was killed in World War II and an infant brother; a granddaughter, Shelly Ann Decker, the daughter of her son Tom and Kathy; and a grandson, Michael Krupitzer, the son of her son Myles and Tammy. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Shawn Goodwin officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens. Anyone wanting to help with the final expenses may do so through the Morrison Funeral Home, Oil City. Morrison Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Helen G. Prynt, 85, of Lawrence Park, Erie, formerly of Oil City, a retired McDowell High School teacher, passed away on Monday, Oct.13, 2008, at Twinbrook Medical Center. Born Jan.15, 1923, in Oil City, she was the daughter of Alexander and Elizabeth Dolecki Pryntkowski. Ms. Prynt was a 1941 graduate of Oil City High School. She attended Villa Maria College and graduated with a bachelor's degree in business education. She taught office practices and data processing at McDowell High School until her retirement. She was a life member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees. She was an avid golfer and bowler, and she enjoyed bingo. Ms. Prynt carried on a very special tradition with family members every Easter and Christmas of serving a unique Polish soup called barczc. It was, said family members, generally followed by a rousing game of pinochle. She is survived by her niece, Paula Beam Toedt and her husband, Brian, of San Diego, Calif., and their children, Jamie Beam, Lucy Toedt and Alexander Toedt; and her nephew, David A. Scott and his wife, Carolyn, of Lawrence Park, Erie, and David's daughter, Ashley Davis, of Erie. Ms. Prynt is also survived by numerous cousins and wonderful friends. In addition to her parents, Ms. Prynt was preceded in death by her only sister, Florence Scott. With Florence's passing in 1975, Ms. Prynt devoted her life to nurture, counsel, support and raise Florence's teenage children, David and Paula. Friends and family may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Carl A. Slomski & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2101 Ash St., Erie. Funeral services will be held at 9:20 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mount Calvary Catholic Church on 2022 East Lake Road, Erie. Ms. Prynt's cousin, the Rev. Joseph Gregorek, will officiate. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1128 State St., Suite 301, Erie, 16501. Ruth D. Thompson, 81, a guest at Jefferson Manor Health Center in Brookville and a former resident of Bills Road, Brookville, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, at Jefferson Manor. Born Nov. 17, 1926, in Akron, Ohio, she was the daughter of Edward E. Dinger and Clarabelle A. Williams Dinger. She first married Clyde C. Lindsey, and he preceded her in death Nov. 10, 1979. She then married Richard W. (Bill) Thompson, and he died June, 24, 2008. Mrs. Thompson worked as a secretary with Penn Separator of Brookville for seven years, Sylvania of Brookville for 10 years and the Brookville YMCA for 15 years. She belonged to First United Methodist Church of Brookville and Order of Eastern Star 320 of Brookville, and she enjoyed spending winters in Florida and crafts of all kinds. Mrs. Thompson is survived by two stepsons and one stepdaughter, Jim Thompson of North East, Rick Thompson of Las Vegas and Sandra Hughes of Erie; and three brothers and three sisters, James E. Dinger and his wife, Lois, of Brookville, Harold F. "Pete" Dinger and his wife, Janet, of Brookville, Richard L. "Dick" Dinger and his wife, Norma, of Erie, Mrs. Ronald (Marjorie A.) Hetrick of Erie, Mrs. Forrest (Leona C.) Thompson of Erie and Mrs. Ronald (Donna L.) Snippert of Erie. Also surviving are 13 step-grandchildren, 21 step-great-grandchildren and four step-great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one sister, Pat Vogel. Friends were received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the McKinney Funeral Home in Brookville. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at the funeral home with the Rev. J. Ray Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Methodist Cemetery in Eldred Township, Jefferson County. Getting it right - Kitty J. Allen Reddinger Kitty J. Allen Reddinger, 79, of Distant, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008, at McKinley Health Center. Among her survivors are a daughter, Cheryl L. Narbeth and her husband, Paul, of San Jose, Calif.; and a granddaughter, Erica Strittmatter.
