    3. The Derrick, October 24, 2008: Willis W. Boyd, 196 N. Main St., Seneca Leona "Kate" Catherine DeBerti, 1532 Garden Drive, Franklin William Herring, South Eighth Ave., Clarion Carl McMunn, Route 66, Limestone Township, Clarion Willis W. Boyd, 86, of 196 N. Main St., Seneca, died at 1 p.m. on Oct. 22, 2008, in the Presbyterian Home in Oil City. Born Feb. 22, 1922, in Cochranton, he was the son of Jay Fleming and Iza Maude Jackson Boyd. Mr. Boyd was a 1940 graduate of Cochranton High School. He was a veteran of World War II. Mr. Boyd delivered milk from the dairy farms to the co-op in Sandy Lake for many years. He later was a child care aide at Polk Center. He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church and he was a 10-gallon blood donor. Mr. Boyd was married in 1978 to the former Ruth E. "Betty" Utz Yarnell who survives. Also surviving Mr. Boyd is a daughters, Patricia Boyd of Lobeco, S.C.; three sons, James Boyd and his wife, Bonnie, of Fallbrook, Calif.; Roger Boyd and his wife, Susan, of Thoms River, N.J.; and Willis Boyd and his wife, Jane, of Lewes, Del.; a step-daughter, Linda Baker and her husband, Roger, of Oil City; nine grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a step-great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Ida Stewart; a sister, Pearl Fullerton; two brothers, J. Willard Boyd, his twin, and Carl L. Boyd. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home with the Rev. David Janz, pastor of the Christ United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. The family suggests that donations be made to the Christ United Methodist Church, 1135 Buffalo St., Franklin, or the Visiting Nurses of Venango County, 491 Allegheny Blvd., Franklin, 16323. Leona "Kate" Catherine DeBerti, 71, of 1532 Garden Drive, Franklin, died at 9:50 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, at her residence. Born Jan. 11, 1937, in Montgomery Twp., Indiana County, she was the daughter of the late Michael Freno and Mary Snyder. Mrs. DeBerti was employed as a UPS clerk and retired in 1993 after working for 15 years. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Elks Ladies Golf League and Elks Ladies Bowling League. She enjoyed gardening and playing cards. Mrs. DeBerti was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother; she loved her grandchildren. She was married May 2, 1959 to Ronald E. DeBerti who survives. Mrs. DeBerti is also survived by three children, Michael Edwin DeBerti and his wife, Catherine, of Grand Rapid, Mich.; Michele Kay Maughn and her husband, Robert, of Erie; Ronda Lee Ekis and her husband, Daniel, of Franklin; and eight grandchildren, Zachary, Matthew, Marcus and Megan Maughn, of Erie; Kaitlin and Sarah DeBerti, of Michigan; and Emerson and Ava Ekis of Franklin. She is also survived by a sister, Mary Ann Nemergut of Allen Park, Mich., and a brother, Joseph Freno and his wife, Dorothy, of Chesterland, Ohio. Mrs. DeBerti was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and six sisters. There will be a private visitation. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Church with Msgr. John Herbein officiating. Interment will be at St. Francis Cemetery in Rossiter. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society. Mr. Herring was born Nov. 14, 1941, in Somerset. The Goble Funeral Home & Crematory at 330 Wood St., Clarion, is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published on Saturday. Online memorials may be sent to www.goblefh.net. Carl McMunn, 72, of Route 66, Limestone Township, Clarion, died peacefully at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, at his home. Born Nov. 17, 1935, he was the son of the late Merle and Dorothy George McMunn. Mr. McMunn belonged to Masonic Lodge 66 in Clarion and the Shriners and he was a member of the Tryke unit for many years. He and his wife both joined the Greenville Church before they were married 54 years ago. He became a pilot in 1973 and loved the sky. Mr. McMunn worked at Knox Glass for 21 years and then became half-owner of Kit Industries Co. He was married in 1954 to Audrey Duck McMunn, who survives. Mr. McMunn is also survived by two children, Scarlett Bryce and her husband, Gary, and Carla Klingensmith and her husband, Bill; five grandchildren, Linda Coulson, Jesse Klingensmith, David Bryce, Daniel Bryce and Brittany Klingensmith; and one great-grandchild, Clara Coulson. In addition to his parents, Mr.McMunn was preceded in death by one brother, Dale McMunn. There will be no viewing hours. A private funeral service will be held at the Goble Funeral Home & Crematory, 330 Wood St., Clarion, with the Rev. James Deitrick officiating. The family suggests memorial donations be made to New-Rehoboth-Greenville Presbyterian Church, 1119 New Rehoboth Road, Clarion, 16214.
