Peitz Sr., Shaler Township, Allegheny County Rachel A. Heeter Rhodes, Wilmore, Ky., formerly of Clarion County Calvin L. Startzell, Laurelbrooke Landing, Brookville Rolland D. "Flip" Wile, 610 Wiley Ave., Franklin Betty Jeane Froling, 86, of Winter Springs, Fla., a former Franklin resident, passed away Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at DeBary Manor in DeBary, Fla. She was born July 7, 1922, in Franklin, a daughter of the late Harry Eugene and Kathryn Waite. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Franklin. She also was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5405, a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 30 and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her husband, Albert Froling, survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Vickie K. Meadows; three stepsons, Daniel Froling, Thomas Froling and David Froling; four stepdaughters, Sondra Harris, Carol Duckworth, Marlene Sal and Annette Geissler; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and four cousins, Ginny Zillifro, Norma Valentine, Ted Sims and Dick Sims. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael; a stepson, John; her brother, William; her first husband, Meredith L. Welshans; and her grandson, Meredith. Arrangements are being handled by the Banfield Funeral Home, 420 W. State Road 434, Winter Springs, Fla., 32708. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Douglas C. Morris, 89, of Fisher passed away Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008, at McKinley Health Center in Brookville. Born Jan. 1, 1919, in Little Rock, Ky., he was the son of William and Effie Morris. Mr. Morris was married to Dorothy L. Reimers for 62 years. She preceded him in death. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in France and Belgium. He retired from Heckett Engineering in Tarentum. Mr. Morris was a member of the Church of God in Butler, and he was an avid golfer and fisherman. He is survived by his son, Douglas Louis Morris of Fisher; his daughter, Barbara Jean Macef and her husband, David, of Fisher; two grandchildren, David Michael Macef and his wife, Tonya Sue, of Summerville and Alisha Marie Aaron and her husband, Luke, of Cranberry Township; two great-grandchildren, David and Michael Macef of Summerville; and favorite pets and special friends Tucker, Junior and Brodie. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Morris was preceded in death by four brothers, Ray Morris, Irvin Morris, Harry Morris and Louis Morris. "Bernie" Peitz Sr., 77, of Shaler Township, Allegheny County, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008. Mr. Peitz was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and also was a member of the North Catholic Alumni Catholic Association and the Teutonia Manacor. Mr. Peitz is survived by two daughters, Joan A. Hartle and her husband, Gary, and Jeanne M. Peitz; two sons, Bernard W. Peitz and his wife, Debbie, and Gregory G. Peitz and his wife, Joanne. He also is survived by 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Margaret Karas and her husband, Mike; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rachel Alma Heeter Rhodes, 65, of Wilmore, Ky., went to her heavenly home Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, after a very courageous fight against cancer. Born Nov. 11, 1942, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Alma Craig Heeter. She was a 1960 graduate of Union High School at Rimersburg and received both her bachelor of science degree and her master of arts degree in business education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She married Carl A. Rhodes on Oct. 13, 1973, in Sligo Presbyterian Church. He survives. Mrs. Rhodes taught business courses at Cranberry High School and was an administrative assistant in the Development Department at Asbury College in Wilmore. She was an administrative assistant with the firm of Ford and Ford Accounting in Wyandotte, Mich., before her retirement in 1995. The Rhodes lived in Michigan for 22 years before moving to Wilmore when her husband took the position of clinical field supervisor of Asbury College. She was a member of the Wilmore Free Methodist Church where she was involved in the Mom to Mom Ministry. She served as communion steward, chairperson of the Prayer Shawl Ministry and was the church library assistant. She ministered to the people of Haiti and Ecuador through missions trips to each of the countries. She was a member of the Bluegrass Christian Women's Club where she served in various administrative positions. She was also a member of the Wilmore Lions Club and was the club telephone coordinator. Mrs. Rhodes enjoyed traveling, crocheting, playing the piano, spending time at her summer home in West Monterey and mostly spending time with her grandchildren and many friends across the United States. In addition to her husband, she is survived a son, Scot A. Rhodes and his wife, Jennie of Lexington, Ky.; two granddaughters, Hannah and Annamarie Rhodes, also of Lexington; one brother, Rodney Heeter and his wife, Beverly, of Sligo; a niece, Tamra Hutton and her husband, Whet, of Maryland; and three nephews, Timothy Heeter and his wife, Carrie, of New Bethlehem, Troy Heeter and his wife, Colleen, of Sligo and Terry Heeter and his wife, Lorrie, of Rimersburg. Friends will be received from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Sligo Presbyterian Church, 403 Colerain St., Sligo. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the church. Startzell, 95, of Laurelbrooke Landing, formerly of Evans Street in Brookville, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at McKinley Health Center in Brookville. Born Feb. 27, 1913, in Sprankle Mills, he was the son of Perry and Lulu Martz Startzell. Mr. Startzell and the former Grace Wise were married Sept. 25, 1938, in Brookville, and she preceded him in death. He worked as an elementary school teacher for Clarion-Limestone School District for 20 years and was the elementary supervisor for the district for 18 years. He was a graduate of Startzell School (grades first through eighth), Punxsutawney High School, the International Correspondence School and DuBois Business College. Mr. Startzell received his bachelor's degree in elementary education from Clarion State Teacher's College and his master's degree in elementary administration from Penn State University. He was a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association, Clarion County Retired Teachers Association, Clarion University Alumni Association and the Penn State Alumni Association. Mr. Startzell was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Brookville, where he taught Sunday school classes for 15 years. He was the Sunday school superintendent for 18 years, class leader for 10 years and the church treasurer for 16 years. He also served on the administrative and trustee boards in the church and on many different committees. Surviving are two sons, Darl Startzell and his wife, Pat, of Lititz and the Rev. Loye Startzell and his wife, Joyce, of Brookville; and a daughter, Sandra Holben and her husband, Richard, of Brookville. He also is survived by six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Startzell was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the McKinney Funeral Home in Brookville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with the Rev. Timothy McConville officiating. Interment will be in Brookville Cemetery.
