O'Toole, Tionesta Shawn Michael Sferzza, Madison Street, Sligo Matthew Mead "Matt" Swyers, Brush Run Road, Strattanville Memorial set for Marien Elieen Sandieson Lange Matthew Mead "Matt" Swyers, 21, of Brush Run Road, Strattanville, Clarion Township, died at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, in an auto accident in Clarion Township, where he was a passenger. He was born Jan. 19, 1987, in Clarion, a son of Donald E. Swyers and Lisa Hancock. He attended Clarion-Limestone Schools. He was presently enrolled and soon to graduate from Penn Foster School. Matt enjoyed playing Play Station, music and his computer. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid Steelers fan. He will be remembered by his good sense of humor and having fun with friends, especially his step-brother, Doug. He was Protestant by faith. He helped his father in construction work. He is survived by his father, Donald and Linda Swyers of Strattanville; his mother, Lisa and Tim Hancock of Pittsburgh; grandfather, Joseph Swyers of Knox; a half-brother, Christopher Hancock of Pittsburgh; step-brother, Doug Lucas, Jr. of Strattanville; step-sister, Sami Lucas of Strattanville; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ira and Stella Peace; and his paternal grandmother, Helen Swyers. Calling hours will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Sunday in the funeral home with the Rev. David Selleck officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Limestone Township. Shawn Michael Sferzza, 22, of Madison Street, Sligo, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, as the result of injuries suffered in a one vehicle auto crash earlier in the day in Clarion County. He was born in Erie, on Jan. 6, 1986, and was the only son of Neva Mae Sferzza of Madison Street, Sligo. He attended the Union Schools and enjoyed playing the guitar and spending time with his friends. He was discharged from the U. S. Army's National Guard in June 2008, after receiving his advanced training at Ft. Benning, Georgia. He was a former employee at the Clarion Wal-Mart. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Neva Mae Sferzza of Madison Street, Sligo; step-father, Randy L. Uncapher of Sligo; his fiance', Audrey Price of Lucinda; maternal grandparents, George and Margaret Sferazza of Erie; step-grandmother, Mrs Dorothy Uncapher of Worthington; two uncles, Charles Sferazza of Erie and Glenn Carr of North Carolina; two aunts, Hazel Hull of Erie and Cindy Carr of Erie; and four other uncles and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his aunt, Michelle Carr; his step-grandfather, Harry Uncapher; and three infant cousins. There will not be any viewing or funeral service. Lefever, 79, formerly of DuBois, and most recently of Renovo, passed away Friday, Oct. 3, 2008 at Bucktail Medical Center, Renovo. He was born Jan. 11, 1929, in Jefferson Center, to the late Howard L. and Amelia (Fruth) Lefever. He married Charlotte (Silvis) Lefever May 2, 1953, in Westfield. She survives. He was Protestant by faith. He served in the U.S. Army as a Private First Class in the 142nd Armed Signal Co. He had retired from Consolidated Gas. He was a member of Kettle Creek Tamarack Sportsman Club and the Potter County Anglers. He was an avid sportsman enjoying hunting and fishing. He is also survived by two sons, Dennis Lefever and his wife, Jamie, of New Bethlehem and Bill Lefever and Pam of DuBois; one daughter, Debora Fulkerson and Bud Short of DuBois; five grandchildren, Nicky, Dirck, Jeremy, Micaela and Channing; and one great-grandson, Braedon; one brother, Howard Lefever of Erie; and one sister, Marion Patterson of Florida. Born Feb. 3, 1916, in Cambridge, Ohio, she was the daughter of Emerson and Charlotte Beatty Wolfe. She was a homemaker. Mrs. King was a member of First Baptist Church in Franklin and a member of the Royal Bible Class for over 50 years. She married William "Bill" P. King on Aug. 20, 1932, and he preceded her in death May 16, 1989. She is survived by two children, Jack W. King and his wife, Betty, of Franklin and Thomas P. King and his wife, Pat, of Winter Garden, Fla.; two grandchildren, David King and friend, Lisa Hall, of Clearwater Beach, Fla. and Jay King and his wife, Beth, of Wake Forest, N.C.; and two great-grandchildren, Emily Elizabeth King and Daniel William King of Wake Forest, N.C. Mr. Feely was born on Aug. 29, 1949, at Oil City, to the late Jack and Dorothy Vogus Feely. He married Karen Winters on Dec. 7, 1987 at Titusville. He was a graduate of Titusville High School, class of 1969. Mr. Feely served in the U.S. Army. He entered the service on Sept. 11, 1969, and served with 502nd Infantry division. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 5, 1971. He was employed as a truck driver for 34 years with Pennsylvania Deptartment of Transportation, until his retirement in 2004. Mr. Feely was a member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW. He loved spending time with his grandsons. He also owns two draft horses, which he previously used to skid logs out of the woods. Mr. Feely enjoyed working around his home, taking care of his vegetable garden, growing grapes, cutting fire wood and hunting. He is survived by his wife, Karen Feely of Titusville; one daughter, Tiffiny H. Winters and her fianc,, Daniel Smith, of Oil City; two grandsons, Riley Paul Winters and Wyatt Daniel James Smith, both of Oil City; one sister, Jean McClintock of Titusville; two brothers, Raymond Feely and wife, Penny and Donald Feely and companion, Michelle Huff, all of Titusville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Feely was preceded in death by two brothers, who died in infancy, Jack LeRoy Feely and Robert Feely. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Gordon B. O'Toole, 83, a resident of Tionesta for 57 years and a well-known West Forest High School principal, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, at his home in Tionesta. Mr. O'Toole had formerly lived in Homestead. He was born March 12, 1925, in Homestead, a son of the late John E. O'Toole and Mary Catherine O'Brien O'Toole. Mr. O'Toole was a 1943 graduate of Homestead High School and a 1951 graduate of Clarion State Teacher's College. He received his master's degree in education and his high school principal's certificate from the University of Pittsburgh in 1956. He taught in the Forest Area Schools from 1951 to 1957 and was principal of West Forest High School from September 1957 until his retirement in April 1988. In addition to teaching at West Forest, he coached basketball on the junior high and high school levels. He also coached basketball at Clarion Immaculate Conception High School from 1950 to 1952. While he was principal, he was a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Secondary Principals and the National Association of Secondary Principals. He was also a member of the Board of Trustees of Clarion State Teachers College from March 1961 to October 1965. Mr. O'Toole, a veteran of World War II, served in the South Pacific Theatre while in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946 as an electrician mate, second class (EM2/c). He was also a member of VFW Post 8803 of Tidioute. He was an active member of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Tionesta, serving as an usher and as a member of the church finance committee. He was married in Clarion on Aug. 19, 1950, to the former Mary Catherine Schierberl, who survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. O'Toole is survived by six sons, Michael J. O'Toole and his wife, Jane, of Richmond, Va., Martin J. O'Toole of Phoenix, Ariz., Patrick T. O'Toole and his wife, Tracey, of Butler, Shaun E. O'Toole of Harrisburg, Dennis W. O'Toole and his wife, Darlene, of Tionesta, and Brian K. "Bo" O'Toole and his wife, Nancy, of Oil City; three daughters, Mary C. "Cathi" Polak and her husband, Ron, of Meadville, Maureen A. Faulkner O'Toole of Madison, Ohio, and Erin M. Brannon and her husband, Ken, of Oil City; and 15 grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday at the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta.
