    3. The Derrick, October 8, 2008: Robert H. Jaun, Tionesta Edwin L. Mumau Jr., Polk Center Gerald A. Peth, Cropps Corners Road, Knox Rebecca Jane Pope, Liberty Street, Clarion Rev. John E. Richards, 104 Beech Drive, Franklin Mary Louisa Walker, formerly of Oil City Robert H. Jaun, 83, a life-long resident of Tionesta, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2008 at the Titusville Hospital. He was born June 6, 1925, in Tionesta, a son of the late Harry M. and Katie I. (Blum) Jaun. He is the last surviving member of his family. He graduated from Tionesta School in June 1943. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps that same year during World War II. He served in the 9th Air Force and flew on six B-26 bombing missions over Germany. His tour included England, France, Holland, Belgium and Germany. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Air Metal, E.T.O. Ribbon, Victory Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, and the Presidential Unit Citation. He was honorably discharged in 1946 as a staff sergeant. Mr. Jaun was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for 30 years as a municipal service specialist, retiring in 1992. He was also employed part time by the Forest Hills Restaurant of Tionesta for 26 years as a maitre'd. He was a life member of the Olive Lodge 557 Masonic organization of Tionesta. He is survived by many cousins, including Dorothy Hesley of North Wales, Pa. He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by numerous aunts, uncles, and a special cousin, Glenn Jaun. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home with funeral services being conducted at 11 a.m. The Rev. Randy L. Evans, Forest/Clarion VNA Hospice Chaplain, will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Kingsley Township, Forest County. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Box 408, Clarion, 16214. Edwin L. Mumau, Jr., 43, of Polk Center, Polk, died unexpectedly Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008. He was born Aug. 26, 1965, in Meadville. Eddie lived his life happily and was a gift to all who knew him. Eddie is survived by his father, Edwin L, Sr. and stepmother, Wilhelmina (Kosterman) Mumau of San Antonio, Fla.; his mother, Linda (Manross) Gardner and her husband, Dan, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a sister, Michele L. Mumau of Caspter, Wyo.; two brothers, Jamie I. Mumau of Salsalldo, Calf. and Daniel Gardner of Oklahoma City, Okla. Also surviving are step-grandmother, Marjorie Kosterman of Erie; and several aunts, uncles and niece, Autumn M. Mumau, of Ft. Worth, Texas. He was preceded in death by fraternal grandparents, Mary (Davis) Stearns and Clayton A. Mumau; and maternal grandparents, Harold and Autumn Manross. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Polk Center, Meadow Side Commons. Huff Chapel Inc., at 312 West Park St., Franklin, is in charge of the arrangements. Gerald A. Peth, 80, of Cropps Corners Road, Knox, died at 11:56 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. A complete obituary will be published Thursday in The Derrick. The Hile Funeral Home in Emlenton is in charge of arrangements Rebecca Jane Pope, 80, of Liberty Street, Clarion, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008. She was born May 1, 1928. The Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood St., Clarion, is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published Thursday in The Derrick. The Rev. John E. Richards, 88, of 104 Beech Drive, Franklin, departed to be with the Lord at 6:23 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at UPMC Northwest. Born Jan. 25, 1920, in Hilliards, he was the son of William and Hannah Day Richards. After graduating from Geneva College, he joined the U.S. Navy in World War II. He served as a pharmacist's mate in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Richards graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary and served as Christian Education director of Scofield Memorial Church for 10 years. He pastored Fairview Evangelical Free Church in San Antonio for four years. He was executive director of Seneca Hills Bible Camp for 18 years, a part of that time also ministered Mt. Carmel Church. In retirement, he organized the Hilliards Meadow Enterprise and the Historical Center in Hilliards. He married Edith Shira on Aug. 25, 1949, and she survives. Also surviving are three children, John Richards and wife, Louise, of Bethesda, Md., Karen Richards of Franklin and Ann Krill and husband, Peter, of Plymouth Meeting; and one sister, Virginia Trageser of McMurray. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Clara Stover, Dorothy McKissick and Effina Davis; and three brothers, DeWitt, Harris and Thomas Richards. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home in Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Rocky Grove Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Mark DeJeu of Rocky Grove Presbyterian Church officiating and assisted by the Rev. James Cossin of Seneca Hills Bible Camp, co-officiating. Interment will be held at Rosewood Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Seneca Hills Bible Camp, Box 288, Franklin, 16323. Condolences can be sent online at www.gardinierfuneralhome.com. Mary Louisa Walker, 91, formerly of Oil City, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008. Miss Walker was the granddaughter of Capt. William Hasson of Oil City, and the daughter of William O. Walker and Mary Hasson Walker, also of Oil City. Miss Walker was born in Oil City and graduated from Trinity College in Washington, D.C. She worked for the H.H. Robinson Company in New York City until retirement. She was a member of St. Agnes Church in New York City, where she volunteered charitable time in the soup kitchen for many years. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is survived by seven nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, William O. Walker of Columbus, Ohio; and sister, Anne Walker Martin, of Raleigh, N.C. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, at St. Catherine Cemetery in Titusville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Agnes Catholic Church, 143 E 43rd St, New York, N.Y., 10017. The Leo N. Hennes Funeral Home Inc., in Titusville, in handling the arrangements.
