Stemmerich, Acme Street, Rimersburg Helen L. Sumosky, 7 Vo-Tech Drive, Oil City Marian L. Tologo, 2670 Old Route 322, Franklin, Karen R. Gilmore, 65, of 1 Clarion St., Oil City, went to be with the Lord at 1:20 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, at the Presbyterian University Hospital in Pittsburgh. She was stricken Sunday, Sept. 27, at her residence. Born April 28, 1943, in Franklin, she was the daughter of the late James and Alice Marshall Storm. She attended Polk Elementary and was a 1961 graduate of Oil City Senior High School. Karen operated her own telemarketing firm in Buffalo, N.Y., for many years, working with the magazine industry. She also worked as an operating room clerk at the Oil City Hospital and had last worked as a ward clerk at Polk Center. An untimely automobile accident brought on her disability and forced her into early retirement. She was of the Protestant Faith. Her hobbies included flower gardening, and she was an avid reader. She also truly enjoyed being around her grandchildren. She was previously married to Jack Gilmore, who died on June 5, 2007. Survivors include a daughter, Ruthy Gilmore of Oil City; three grandchildren, Dylan Wagner, and Micaela and Gabrielle Watterson, all of Oil City; and her significant other of the last 14 years as of Sept. 8, Terry Cox of Oil City. Also surviving are an aunt, Marcella Marshall of Polk; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by an aunt, Donna Klink; and an uncle, Bob Marshall. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Reinsel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with pastor Tina Krouskop presiding. Interment will be at Polk Cemetery. Reed, 87, of Clarion, died early Saturday morning, Oct. 4, 2008, at Golden Living in Shippenville. Born on April 19, 1921, in Foxburg, she was the daughter of the late William and Hannah Tonks Reed. She was a 1939 graduate of St. Petersburg-Richland High School. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Clarion. She was employed for many years at Clarion University and retired in 1984. Miss Reed is survived by two sisters, Marilyn Reed of Foxburg and Gloria R. Burns and her husband, Edward, of Shippenville; a brother, Richard Reed and his wife, Sally, of Pleasantville; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Alice Murray, Gertrude Foust, Adda Horton, Clara Gardner, and Margaret Reed; and a brother, William Reed. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 802 Grove Street, St. Petersburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Harold Jacobson, pastor Grace Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Foxburg Cemetery. Richards, 88, of 104 Beech Drive, Franklin, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at UPMC Northwest, Seneca. The Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home of Franklin is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published Wednesday in The News-Herald. Jacqueline M. Stemmerich, 77, of Acme Street, Rimersburg, passed away at 8:20 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at the Clarion Hospital following an illness. Born Nov. 19, 1930, in Aliquippa, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Ila Lane Lewis. She graduated in 1949 from the Aliquippa High School and then graduated from Clarion University in 1953 with a degree in teaching English, Geography and Biology. She taught English at the Union School District and then was a substitute teacher for a time. She and her husband Donald moved to the Union School District in 1955 and then to their Rimersburg home in 1960, where they raised their family. She was a member of the Rimersburg United Methodist Church for the past 48 years, serving as secretary treasurer of the memorial fund and when needed, as director of the church choir for 30 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, the Lawsonham Street Circle and the Fidelis Sunday school class. She served on the Eccles Lesher Library board, worked with the Rimersburg Girl Scouts and Share-A-Care in Rimersburg. She enjoyed reading Agatha Christie mystery novels, swimming, all animals (especially her two house cats, Lady and Cookie), and the crossword and Sudoku puzzles in the daily newspaper. She was married Aug. 15, 1953, in Aliquippa to Donald A. Stemmerich, who survives. Survivors also include a son and his wife, Gregory L. and Pam Stemmerich of Manteo, N.C.; a daughter and her husband, Heidi J. and John Wimbush Virginia Beach, Va.; three grandchildren, Holly Stemmerich of Manteo, N.C., and Breanna Wimbush and Kyler Wimbush of Virginia Beach, Va. Also surviving are a brother and his wife, Dr. Richard and Nancy Lewis of St. Louis, Mo.; two nieces and their husbands, Justine and Jason Olawsky of Renton, Wash., and Cindy and Gene White of Charlotte, N.C.; and two nephews, James Lewis with the U.S. Coast Guard and Craig Lewis of Easley, S.C. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death a brother, James Lewis. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home in Rimersburg. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Rimersburg United Methodist Church with her pastor, the Rev. Brock R. Beveridge, officiating. Sumosky, 88, of 7 Vo-Tech Drive, Oil City, died at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born Jan. 8, 1920, in Oil City, she was a daughter of Leadum Denver and Anna Sherman Fox. Mrs. Sumosky attended the Oil City schools. She worked for many years in the cafeteria at Pinegrove School and retired from there. She loved cooking and baking and was well known for always having something coming from the oven until her vision no longer allowed her that pleasure. Helen's biggest joy was her family and friends and nothing made her happier than a visit from her children and grandchildren. She loved music and playing cards with family and friends and especially enjoyed her Tuesday Card Club. Mrs. Sumosky was a member of St. Venantius Church. She was married April 18, 1937, to Edward A. Sumosky, who preceded her in death May 9, 1996. Helen and Ed resided for most of their lives in the home they built at Kahle's Corners, Fryburg Road, and loved the Perret's Flats neighborhood. Surviving are five children, Nancy Scierka and husband, Andy, of Rush City, Minn., Edward Sumosky and wife, Barbara, of Edinboro, Daniel Sumosky and wife, Sharon, of Franklin, Sally Albright and husband, Jeff, of Oil City, and Patty Huber and husband, Bill, of Rouseville. Survivors also include 21 grandchildren, Kathy Hermansen, Barbara Scierka, Mary Jane Scierka, Michael Scierka, Andy Scierka, Elizabeth Wellman, Edward Sumosky, Steve Sumosky, Jenny Hull, Tina Zaczyk, Mathew Sumosky, Tracy Sheehan, Beth Campbell, Joel Balot, Jessica Balot, Anna Harry, Elizabeth Huber, Preston Huber, William Huber, Patrick Huber and Jonathon Huber. Also surviving are 15 great-grandchildren and two on the way; two sist ers-in-law, Ceil Jones of Whippany, N.J., and Betty Fox of Oil City; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Among the survivors are also special friends and neighbors, Jennifer Pardee, Kay Thompson, Phyllis Richardson, Shirley Dalton and Vi Shumaker. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Isaac Fox, Carl Fox, Fred Fox, Lloyd Fox and Paul Fox; and two sisters, Suzie Fox Fischer Martin and Marion Fox Porter. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Morrison Funeral Home, 110 Petroleum St., Oil City. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Venantius Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Tologo, 68, of 2670 Old Route 322, Franklin, died Saturday, Oct.4, 2008, at Meadville Medical Center. Born Aug.15, 1940, in Meadville, she was the daughter of John and Alice Glans Blair. She was married Oct. 3, 1959, to Albert L. Tologo, who preceded her in death Jan. 27, 2008. She had worked at the former Lil Shopper, Ward's Restaurant and Isaly's, all located in Cochranton. Mrs. Tologo attended Donation Hill Church. She enjoyed canning and gardening and raising all kinds of animals. She is survived by two daughters, Shelly Arbuckle and her husband, Thomas, of Franklin and Melissa Andrews and her husband, Larry, of Cochranton; and a son Mark Tologo of Cochranton. Survivors also include two sisters, Shirley Kope and her husband, Glenn, of Utica, and Nancy Miller and her husband, Ron, of Sandy Lake; four grandchildren, Angela and Jessica Christo, and Ashley and Cody Andrews; and a great grandson, Seth Arbuckle. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Blair; and a granddaughter, Crystal Andrews.
