    3. The Derrick, October 30, 2008: Ray E. Karnes, formerly of the Parker area Margaret W. Plummer, Franklin, formerly of Polk Rolland D. "Flip" Wile, Rocky Grove Ray E. Karnes, 86, formerly of the Parker area, passed away late afternoon Oct. 28, 2008, at Newhaven Court Assisted Living Center in Butler following an illness. Mr. Karnes was preceded in death by his wife Emma Hasenflue Rodgers Karnes. He is survived by three stepsons, James Rodgers, Harold "Gene" Rodgers and Donald Rodgers. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Corps, and active in various Masonic circles. Margaret W. Plummer, 94, of 103 N. 13th St. Franklin, formerly of Hillcrest Avenue, Polk, died at 9 p.m. Oct. 28, 2008, at The Caring Place in Franklin. Born Mar. 15, 1914 in Sunville, she was the daughter of the late Frank G. Wright and Susie Beatty. Mrs. Plummer was married Nov. 27, 1941, to George M. Plummer who preceded her in death on July 18, 1998. She was employed at Polk Center as a supervisor and retired in 1977 after working more than 30 years. She was also employed by General Manifold before World War II and served as a caretaker for women in Rocky Grove. Mrs. Plummer was a member of the Franklin Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, family and church. She graduated from Rocky Grove High School after attending Sunville School. Mrs. Plummer is survived by two children, George Allan Plummer and his wife, Andrea, of Stoneboro; and Norman Plummer and his wife, Ginny, of Franklin; six grandchildren, Robin Lee and her husband, Ellsworth, of Pickford, Mich.; Terri Baker and companion, Ron Baldwin, of Townville; Richard Plummer and his wife, Suzette, of Kineheloe, Mich.; Mark Plummer and his wife, Barb, of Oil City; Norman Lee Plummer II of Galveston, Texas; and Ginger Connor and her husband, Marc, of Polk; 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Hunter Wright and his wife, Shirley, of Sunville; and two step-children, Cory Smith and his wife, Deb, of Utica; and Dawn Price and her husband, Gene, of McDonald. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Plummer was preceded in death by two brothers, Lee Wright and Howard Wright. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chesnut St., Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald C. Bole, a VNA Hospice pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. "Flip" Wile, 67, of 610 Wiley Ave., Rocky Grove, died peacefully and surrounded by his family at 2:05 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008, in his home. Born Oct. 23, 1941, in Rocky Grove, he was the son of Glenn R. and Kathryn I. (Lindsey) Wile. He was a lifelong resident of Rocky Grove and graduated from Rocky Grove High School with the Class of 1959. He married his high school sweetheart, Sandra L. Hartman, on Feb. 23, 1960. She survives. Mr. Wile was well-known as the manager of the Skat/Kwik Fill service station in Reno where he formed many lifelong friendships before retiring in 2004 after 45 years of service. In his earlier years, he was an avid basketball player, playing for Rocky Grove High School and various leagues. He continued his love of sports through his grandchildren, participating in various sports-related activities. He especially loved to garden and travel. Mr. Wile had a very strong faith. He was ordained an elder and later became the pastor of the Remnant Church of God in 1998. Surviving in addition to his wife are his mother, Kathryn; five daughters, Jennifer L. Lambert and her husband, Craig, Terri J. Lowry and her husband, Timothy, Lee Ellen Haniwalt and her husband, Terry, Susanna D. Wile and her fiancée, Don Uber, and Olivia K. Williams and her husband, David, all of Franklin. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Amanda E. Higgins and her husband, Adam, of Charlotte, N.C., Jared M. Lambert and his wife, Megan, Jessica, Justin and Cassidy Lowry, Tyler Wile, Patrick and Nicholas Glowacki and Gage Matthew Haniwalt, and Abigayle and Bishop Williams, all of Franklin; and two great-grandchildren, Brynn Lambert and Benjamin Higgins. Preceding him in death were his father, Glenn R. Wile, and his beloved aunt, Frances (Lindsey) Hefferman. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Timothy E. Hartle Funeral Home at 1328 Elk St., Franklin. Private funeral services and interment will be conducted at the convenience of the family.
