Latshaw, 642 Hill City Road, Cranberry Gerald James Natcher, Summerville Helen L. Watters, Tionesta James D. "Thumper" Webster, Seneca Charles Fredic "Fred" Zickefoose, of Pittsburgh Road, Harrisville James R. Dean, 76, of 1334 Cochranton Road, Carlton, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca due to complications from cancer. Born Mar. 3, 1932, he was the son of Edward Eugene and Lottie Helen Lees Dean. He was married Dec. 3, 1955, to Shirley Griffin, who survives. Mr. Dean was a carpenter and worked for several construction companies in the area, some of which were Freyermuth's and Schnarr's Construction. He and his wife also operated Dean's Farm Market in Carlton from 1955 to 1997. He was a member of St. Mark United Church of Christ and was also a member of the Strawberry Growers Association. He enjoyed hunting and traveling to other farms to see their produce and examine new equipment that was ever changing. Mr. Dean was one to strike up a conversation and always would ask "Where are you from?" In addition to his wife of 52 years, Mr. Dean is survived by his children, Fred Dean and his wife, Gail, of Carlton, Patricia Huey and her husband, Shawn, of Cochranton, and Ralph Dean and his wife, Diana, of Carlton; and one sister, Josephine Rich of Sherman Oaks, Calif. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Robbie Dean, Jody Barnes, Lisa Dean, Morgan and Nathaniel Huey, and Seth and Cory Dean; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Lawson Irvin, 72, of Brooklyn, N.Y., formerly of Franklin, passed away Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, at Brooklyn Hospital following a brief illness. Born June 17, 1936, in Franklin, she was the daughter of the late Herbert L. Lawson and Marion H. Patterson Lawson. She attended Franklin area schools. She was retired from Sedgwick James Insurance Co. where she worked in the administrative field. Mrs. Irvin was brought up at the Erie Street Church of God in Franklin. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to share her laugh. She was an aunt who took special interest in her nieces and nephews, acknowledging special occasions and encouraging them in their gifts. Mrs. Irvin was blessed with one grandchild, who was the pride and joy of her life, Herbert "Herbie" Whack, named after her father. She is survived by one daughter, Arlene Irvin of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one brother, Sheridan Lawson of New Castle; three sisters, Josephine Lawson Gibbs of Hermitage, Florence Lawson Richburg of Sharon and Shirley Lawson Blackwell of Dayton, Ohio; and one grandchild, Herebert Whack of Brooklyn, N.Y. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Irvin was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Irvin; and one sister, Marion Lawson Dickison. Linda Kay Persing Heffernan, 53, of Franklin, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, in Tionesta as a result of a motorcycle accident. Latshaw, 84, of 642 Hill City Road, Cranberry, died at 9:45 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca after a lengthy illness. Born Feb. 3, 1924, in Titusville, she was a daughter of the late Avon B. and Sylvia Perry Stuck and was raised and adopted by her grandfather, Benjamin F. Perry. Mrs. Latshaw owned and operated a home cleaning service for many years. She dearly loved her family and friends, with whom she enjoyed spending time and listening to old-time country music with. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. On June 27, 1940, she married Delbert E. Latshaw, who preceded her in death April 20, 1990. Mrs. Latshaw is survived by three children, Larry Latshaw and his wife, Pat, of Cranberry, Trudy (Jeanne) Ritts and her husband, Paul, of Seneca, and Edward Latshaw and his wife, Joyce, of Cranberry; and eight grandchildren, Shellie and Ted Snell of Canton, Ga., Chris and Sherry Bard of Oil City; Scott and Kris Ritts of Burgettstown, Vince and Joanna Latshaw of Cranberry, Larry and Mickey Latshaw of Fuquay-Varina, N.C., Eric and Gina Latshaw of Warren, Cyndi and David Nuhfer of Oil City and Amy and Grant Meabon of Franklin. Also surviving are 20 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and one brother, Doyle Stuck of Florida. Gerald James Natcher, 67, of Summerville, formerly of Haborcreek, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at Fairview Manor. In 2001, Mr. Natcher and his wife of 33 years, the former Audrey Paczynski, relocated to Summerville. Helen L. Watters, 78, of Tionesta, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at Titusville Area Hospital. Born Aug. 15, 1930, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Schilken O'Brien. She was married Aug. 25, 1956, in Pittsburgh to Charles H. Watters, who survives. She enjoyed spending time with her children. Her hobbies included reading and watching movies. Mrs. Watters was Catholic by faith. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Watters is survived by two sons, Charles J. Watters and his wife, Krystal, of Tidioute, and John P. Watters and his wife, Yvonne, of West Hickory; one daughter, Kathleen L. Watters of West Hickory; three granddaughters, Elizza, Kaylyn and Rayne Watters of Tidioute; one grandson, Stephen J. Watters of West Hickory; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Joseph S. Watters. "Thumper" Webster, 69, of Seneca, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca after a long, courageous battle with lung cancer. Born Jan. 12, 1939, in Oil City, he was a son of the late Kenneth Charles and Dorothy Bender Webster. He was married June 12, 1961, to Quinell Bartlett, who survives. Mr. Webster graduated in 1956 from Cranberry High School. After graduation in 1956, he worked at Johns Hopkins in Washington, D.C. >From there he entered the Air Force in December 1959 to January 1964. He was a life time member of IBEW Local 82 of Dayton, Ohio. He was also a member of the American Legion and a 32nd Degree member of the Masonic Temple. After retirement, he dearly loved playing music (the "tub", gut bucket) with the Pine Valley Boys, and he made many friends over his 17 years of playing. In addition to his wife, Mr. Webster is survived by two children, Teresa Webster of Seneca and Van Webster and his wife, Terry, of Diamond; four grandsons, Codie Webster of Oil City, Casey Webster, who is serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Hood, Texas, Colten Webster of Seneca and Aubrey James Webster of California. He is also survived by a brother, Kenneth "Dick" Webster of Dayton, Ohio; three sisters, Pat Carbaugh of Seneca, Joyce Lendrum of Louisiana and Mary Anderson and her husband, Tom, of Rocky Grove; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Webster was preceded in death by one brother, Vance Webster. At Mr. Webster's request, there will be no public visitation or funeral services. Charles Fredic "Fred" Zickefoose, 73, of Pittsburgh Road, Harrisville, formerly of Sewickley, passed away at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh Born Nov. 12, 1934, in Buckhannon County, W.Va., he was the son of Dorcy Henry Zickefoose and Dora Henrietta Moore Zickefoose. Mr. Zickefoose was married June 8, 1966, to Patricia M. "Pat" Zickefoose, who survives. He retired from the Port Authority Transit in Pittsburgh after 35 years of service. Mr. Zickefoose was a member of Barkeyville United Methodist Church, where he served as a trustee. He was also a member of the choir, was a youth group supporter and was active in vacation Bible school. He was a peacetime veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He was also a member of Parker Allegheny Valley Lodge F&AM 521, and he was a Boy Scout leader in Bell Acres. Mr. Zickefoose loved spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing, and he was an avid NASCAR fan, especially of Dale Earnhardt. He is survived by three sons, Joseph L. Zickefoose Sr. and his wife, Margaret J., of Economy, David E. Zickefoose and his wife, Lena M., of Sewickley, and Fred Zickefoose Jr. and his wife, Joyce J., of Barkeyville; and five grandchildren, Kimberly A. Zickefoose and Joseph L. Zickefoose of Economy, Alexis R. Zickefoose of Sewickley, and Josh A. Zickefoose and John R. Zickefoose of Barkeyville. In addition to his parents, Mr. Zickefoose was preceded in death by an aunt, Metta "Ninnie" Brown. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Larry E.
