    3. The Derrick, November 1, 2008: Velma J. Beane, of Tionesta Dennis Patrick Reisinger, of Kennerdell Edward A. "Pete" Wiant, of Fairmount City Velma J. Beane, 74, of Tionesta died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. Born July 1, 1934, she was the daughter of the late David A. and Mary C. Smith Beck. Mrs. Beane was married Sept. 4, 1953, in Mayburg, Forest County, to Leo D. Beane, who survives. After losing her daughter, Hope Baka, to cancer, she was instrumental in developing and continued be an integral part of Angels of Hope, a very active Relay for Life American Cancer Society team in Tionesta. Mrs. Beane enjoyed crossword puzzles. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Beane is survived by a son, Jospeh A. Beane and his wife, Patty, of Punxsutawney; three daughters, Mary L. Schrecengost and her husband, Michael, of Beaver Falls, Toni M. Reda and her husband, Gary, of Dayton and Nancy I. Garrett and her husband, Chris, of Roanoke, Texas; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She also is survived by four brothers, Richard Beck and his wife Genny, David Beck and his wife Sharon, Floyd Beck and his wife Teri, and Myron Beck and his wife Connie; all of Ohio; a sister, Noma Church and her husband, Henry, of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her daughter Hope, Mrs. Beanae was preceded in death by a brother, Wilmer Beck, and five sisters, Madelyn Beane; Clara Rahenkamp; Leola Sears; Wilma Brecht and Gladys Beane. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home in Tionesta. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Randy L. Evans, the Clarion/Forest VNA Hospice chaplain, officiating. Interment will be at Kiffer Hill Cemetery in Hickory Township, Forest County. Dennis Patrick Reisinger, 80, of Kennerdell, a truck driver and business owner, passed away Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, at The Caring Place in Franklin. Born March 17, 1928, in Lucinda, he was the son of the late Anthony and MaryAnn Guth Reisinger. Mr. Reisinger was the co-owner and operator, along with his wife, Loraine Groner Reisinger, of the Beetle Shop on the Cranberry Rockland Road for more than 35 years. He was a truck driver by trade, a career which stretched 47 years from 1953 to 1991, and was a member of the Teamsters. His career included employment with Hall Motor Transit, Pennzoil Products Co. and Penzke Trucking Leasing. On May 25, 1949, he married former Loraine R. Groner in St. Michael's Church of Fryburg. She preceded him in death on Oct. 25, 2006. Mr. Reisinger is survived by a son, Louis P. Reisinger and his wife, Marlene Morrison Reisinger, of Emlenton; three daughters, Marlene A. Reisinger Sottiaux and her husband, LeJay, of Rockland, Marsha J. Reisinger of Bradenton, Fla., and Susanne T. Reisinger of Sarasota, Fla.; three grandchildren, Nicholas "Nick" P. Reisinger of Kennerdell Jessica L. Sottiaux and Jacob A. "Jake" Sottiaux of Rockland; one great-grandson; and one great-granddaughter expected in early November. He is also survived by four brothers, James "Jim" Reisinger of Pleasantville, Eugene "Bud" Reisinger of Gilbert Ariz., Paul Reisinger of Erie and Regis "Pete" Reisinger of Lucinda; four sisters, Lucille Reisinger of Warren, MaryAnn Whitling of Lucinda, Catherine "Katie" Ditz of Warren and E. Rita Eisemen of Tucson, Ariz.; and a brother-in-law, Paul Groner and his wife, Beulah, of Emlenton. In addition to his parents, Mr. Reisinger was preceded in death by his wife, Loraine, and a son ,Jerome "Jerry" Reisinger. Friends and family may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Sunday at the Morrison Funeral Home in Oil City. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am Monday in St. Stephen Church with the Rev. Matthew Ruyechan, pastor, presiding. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Parkinson Research Foundation, 3471 Fifth Ave., Suite 811, Kaufmann Bldg., Pittsburgh, Pa., 15213. Edward A. "Pete" Wiant, 85, of Fairmount City, a veteran of World War II died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at Jefferson Manor in Brookville. Born Aug. 13, 1923 in Climax, he was a son of the late Enos and Mildred Nulph Wiant. Mr. Wiant was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served as a seaman first class. He was awarded the Purple Heart in October 1944. He was a truck driver for McCauley Trucking and was a member of the Oakland Church of God in Distant. He was also a member of the VFW Post of New Bethlehem and joined the Masonic Lodge in 1976. He also belonged to the Western Pennsylvania Teamsters. Mr. Wiant was married March 26, 1946, to Gloria Shick, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Sherri Slack and her husband, Don, of Fairmount City; two grandchildren; Troy Slack and his wife, Jaime, of New Bethlehem and Babbi Slack of Ocean City, Md.; one brother, Kenneth "Joe" Wiant and his wife, Marion, of Fairmount City; two sisters, Mary Hinderliter of New Bethlehem and Midge Bradley of South Bethlehem; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Wiant of South Bethlehem. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James Wiant and William Wiant; and three sisters, Myrtle Young, Peggy Fenstermaker and Carrie Mae Minich. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Rupert Funeral Home in New Bethlehem. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home with the Rev. Jimmy Swogger, pastor of the Oakland Church of God, officiating.
