Fornof, formerly of 17 Hone Ave., Oil City Leslie Earl "Hickory" Reed, Reed Road, Clarion Todd S. Russell, Lititz, formerly of Oil City James Edwin Sheffer, Forest Park Estates, Shippenville William L. "Bill" Smith, Route 322, Brookville Dr. Robin Roger Wiegel, Cromwell, Conn., formerly of Franklin Robert W. Barnes, 66, formerly of Tylersburg, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008. Born Dec. 7, 1942, he was the son of the late David and Helen Jayne Barnes. He is survived by his children, Mark Barnes, Rhonda Brewer, Sherry Lewis, Heidi Barnes, Robert Barnes, Jessica Barnes and Jeffrey Barnes. Survivors also include a brother, David Barnes and his wife, Dee, of Ellwood City; a sister, Judy Boehm of Gibsonia; and a caregiver, Lee Ann Gray. A memorial Mass for family and friends will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Church in Crown with the Rev. Gregory Passauer officiating. John E. Donahue, 45, a professional engineer (P.E.), died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, in Homestead, Fla. Mr. Donahue was born in Natrona Heights and later lived in West Palm Beach, Fla., before moving to Port St. Lucie, Fla. He was the director of civil engineering and survey services for Boyle Engineering in Palm City, Fla. Mr. Donahue lived in Oil City for several years and graduated from Oil City High School. He received his BS in civil engineering from Pennsylvania State University. Mr. Donahue was the vice president of the Florida Engineering Society/Past Region V, a board member of the Treasure Coast Research and Education Development Authority, a member of the Florida Engineering Foundation, past chairman of the Board of Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County, past vice president of governmental affairs of the St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce, past vice chair of the Port St. Lucie Code Enforcement Board, 1997 Young Engineer of the Year/Treasure Coast Chapter/Florida Engineering Society and 2004 Young Engineer of the Year/Treasure Coast Chapter/Florida Engineering Society Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers. He was an avid Penn State, Cleveland Browns and NASCAR fan. Mr. Donahue enjoyed boating on his Nittany Lion IV, gardening and being with his family and friends. Mr. Donahue is survived by his wife of 16 years, Kathleen Donahue of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; one sister, Kathleen Murphy of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; two brothers, Michael Donahue of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Sean Donahue of Stuart, Fla.; his parents, Eileen and Edwin Donahue of Jupiter, Fla.; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved pets, Daytona, Talladega, Indie, Bristol Jr. and Junebug. A celebration of Mr. Donahue's life will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday at Sandsprit Park, 3443 SE St. Lucie Boulevard, Stuart, Fla. Those attending the celebration are asked to wear Penn State colors or NASCAR attire in Mr. Donahue's memory. Fornof, 84 , formerly of 17 Hone Ave., Oil City, died at 8:43 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at the Oil City Presbyterian Home after an extended illness. Born July 19, 1924, in Plumer, he was the son of the late Elmer R. Fornof and Mildred Bodien Fornof Mr. Fornof attended Plumer School and was a graduate of Oil City High School. He had served in the Merchant Marine organization during World War II. Mr. Fornof was married Feb. 1, 1947, in St. Joseph Church in Oil City to the former Phyllis L. Rinella, who preceded him in death Dec. 4, 2004. Mr. Fornof had worked many years as an electrician at J&L Steel. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, he was an avid baseball and horseshoe player, and he also enjoyed bowling. He was a member of St. Joseph Church. Mr. Fornof is survived by five sons, Doug P. Fornof of Seneca, Richard A. Fornof and his wife, Kim, of Oil City, Tom M. Fornof and his wife, Janet, of Oil City, Jason E. Fornof of Oil City, and Mark D. Fornof and his wife Mindy, of Oil City; five grandchildren, Brad A. Fornof and his wife, Joy, of Pittsburgh, Stephen M. Fornof of Pittsburgh, Christine J. Fornof of Oil City, Joshua M. Fornof of Oil City and Chase M. Fornof of Oil City; and two great-grandchildren, Noah James Fornof and Isiah Stephen Fornof. Mr. Fornof is also survived by two brothers, Arden Fornof and Allen "Red" Fornof, both of Oil City; three sisters, Eileen Alt and Janet Morrison, both of Oil City, and Sally Cox of Rouseville; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Fornof was preceded in death by two brothers, Sherrill "Andy" Fornof and Phillip Fornof; and two sisters, Linda DeWoody and an infant sister. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Reinsel Funeral Home in Oil City. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church. Online condolences may be sent to www.goblefh.net. Todd S. Russell, 38, of Lititz, passed away on Saturday morning, Nov, 15, 2008. Mr. Russell was the husband of Jennifer L. Root Russell with whom he celebrated 10 years of marriage in September. Born in Oil City, he was the son of the late Richard and Judith Kenniston Russell. A 13-year veteran of the Lancaster City Police Department, Mr. Russell had been serving as a violent crimes detective. He had previously served with the department's patrol division and the community policing bike division in the southwest sector of Lancaster City. He was a man who truly loved his job as a policeman, serving the community. Mr. Russell was a graduate of Venango Christian High School in 1988, where he played football, golf and basketball. He then graduated from Mercyhurst College in Erie. He coached baseball in the Warwick Little League and loved spending time with all of the kids in his neighborhood. He enjoyed playing basketball and golf. His family was his greatest love. He enjoyed being a loving husband and incredible father. Mr. Russell was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving as a corporal in Operation Desert Storm. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lancaster. In addition to his wife, Mr. Russell is survived by his two children, Jordan and Madison; his twin brother, Timothy Russell and his wife, Mary, of Union City; one sister, Catherine Rega and her husband, Scott, of Jefferson Hills; two sisters-in-law, Jill Root and her husband, Doug Hutchinson, of Lancaster, and Geri Sue Root of Key West, Fla.; his father-in-law, Tim Root and his wife, Reta, of Key West, Fla.; and his mother-in-law, Linda Root and her husband, Earl Elsen, of Lancaster. He will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews, Joel and Josh Hobson; Shane and Seth Russell; Kylie, Payne and Jayda Rega; and Caleb and Ava Hutchinson. Online condolences can be made at www.snyderfuneralhome.com James Edwin Sheffer, 53, of Forest Park Estates, Shippenville, went home to his Lord on Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, surrounded by his loved ones, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born Dec. 11, 1954, in Oil City, he was the son of Joan Stephens Sheffer and the late William E. Sheffer. Mr. Sheffer had worked for Arnold Graphics, General Manifold, Boeing and Seneca Hardwood Lumber, and along with his wife he was the owner and operator of Sheffer's Superior Floor Care. He was a 1973 graduate of Cranberry High School and was a member of Nickleville Presbyterian Church. Mr. Sheffer enjoyed traveling, having made trips to Michigan and Ohio to visit his many relatives. He especially enjoyed his online "family," spending time playing euchre as "Papa-Bear-2-3." with the euchrefreaks league. Mr. Sheffer's health prevented him from attending their recent live euchre weekend in Michigan. He could also be found in "pogo bowl" with the "Wolfnhogs" league in which he was an administrator. He had been encouraged many times during his illness by the calls and letters from his online friends. Mr. Sheffer was married May 14, 1983, at Hill City United Methoidst Church to Bonnie Reddinger, who survives. The Sheffers renewed their wedding vows this spring at Nickleville Presbyterian Church. In addition to his wife, Mr. Sheffers is survived by one daughter, Jessica Sheffer; and two sons, William Sheffer and Michael Sheffer. Mr. Sheffer is also survived by three foster sons, Adam Miller and his wife, Janet, and their son, Destry, of Shelbyville, Tenn., John Miller of Shelbyville, Tenn., and Jim Smith and his wife, Marci, and their children, Tyler and Tara, of Knox; two brothers, Wayne Sheffer and his wife, Linda, of Oil City, and Larry Sheffer and his wife, Sue, of Cranberry; one sister, Barb Stack and her husband, Dan, of Oil City; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his father, Mr. Sheffer was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marshall and Ruth Sheffer and Ed and Irene Stephens; one niece, Nicki Reddinger; and one foster grandchild, Tayler Smith. There will be a celebration of resurrection at 11 a.m. Monday at Nickleville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Sue Montgomery, pastor of Nickleville Presbyterian Church, officiating. Friends and family are encouraged to attend and honor Mr. Sheffer's life and mark his passing. McEntire Funeral Home Inc., 504 East Penn St., Knox, is in charge of arrangements. William L. "Bill" Smith, 69, of Route 322, Brookville, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at Jefferson Manor in Brookville. Born Dec. 28, 1938, in Ridgway, he was the son of the late Leonard Smith and Mae Cowan Smith. Mr. Smith retired from the Department of Environmental Protection and previously worked for Bracken Construction in Sligo and Stahlman Coal Co. in Corsica. After retirement he enjoyed farming and spending time with his family, and he also enjoyed his breakfast club each morning with his friends. He was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Brookville. Mr. Smith was also the secretary-treasurer for Council 13 of the AFSCME union with the DEP, and he was secretary-treasurer of the Roseville Bethel Cemetery Association. Mr. Smith was married May 2, 1959, in Roseville to Helen C. Hetrick, who preceded him in death April 7, 1989. Mr. Smith was then married Aug. 4, 1990, in Brookville to Elsie L. Matthews, and she preceded him in death July 10, 2004. Mr. Smith is survived by one son, Michael Smith and his wife, Peggy, of Summerville; three daughters, Debra L. Shriver and her husband, John, of Brookville, Pamela S. Smith of Brookville and Sandy McCleary and her husband, Mark, of Corsica; and two stepdaughters, Vicki Stahlman and her husband, Jeff, and Rita Burns and her husband, Michael, all of Brookville. Mr. Smith is also survived by one sister, Linda McKinstry of Brookville; numerous nieces and nephews; one grandson, Kirkland Smith; two granddaughters, Heather and Lauren McCleary; and one step-granddaughter, Angela Stahlman. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents and wives. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the McKinney Funeral Home in Brookville. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Brookville with the Rev. Timothy McConville officiating. Dr. Robin Roger Wiegel, D.D. S., 71, of Cromwell, Conn., passed away suddenly Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at Hartford Hospital. Born in Franklin, he was the son of the late Dr. Knealand R. and Edna Ellis Wiegel. Mr. Wiegel graduated from Franklin High School in 1955, from Case University in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1959 with a degree in metallurgical engineering and from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry in 1963. He served with the Third Armored Division, U.S. Army in Germany from 1963 to 1965 and then started his dental internship at Hartford Hospital from 1965 to 1966. He worked on the staff there for many years. Mr. Wiegel worked in private practice with Dr. Henry Kolakowski and Dr. Francis Cleary, with whom he has remained close friends. Upon retirement, he spent many years working in the tree removal business with his son, Chris. Mr. Wiegel is survived by two sons, Christopher Wiegel and his wife, Maria, of Middletown, Conn., and Kurt Wiegel and his wife, Kristine, of Byron, N.Y.; one daughter, Heidi Gregory and her husband, Douglas, of Avon, Conn.; and three brothers, Knealand Wiegel Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Franklin, Richard Wiegel and his wife, Carolyn, of Franklin, and Shane Wiegel and his wife Sylvia, of Harrisville. He is also survived by two sisters, Mary Ann Richardson of Franklin and Nancy Gullo of Dayton, Fla.; an aunt, Jane Judson of Franklin; four grandchildren, Cameron, Christopher, Jennifer and Mark; the mother of his children, Judith Stavola of West Hartford, Conn.; and many nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at noon Monday at the Wiegel Brothers Marina in Franklin. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
