Rebecca Hirsch Martin, Highland Oaks, Shippenville Ray Gene Bickel, Sr., 73, of Kahle Road, Sligo, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, in the Clarion Hospital. Born March 30, 1935, in Oil City, he was the son of the late Walter and Zella Rose Butler Bickel. Mr. Bickel worked in Seneca at Stephens Auto Body until he became disabled. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and loved hunting until he was disabled with MS. After his disability he enjoyed playing cards with his family, solitaire, putting puzzles together and spending time with his loving family. Mr. Bickel had served in the Merchant Marines. He married the former Mary Louise Ferringer, who preceded him in death on April 14, 1998. Mr. Bickel was a member of the Sligo Church Of The Nazarene. He is survived by three daughters, Jacklin Reed and her husband, Bob, of East Brady; Rose Shay of East Brady; Peggy Heginbotham and her husband, Dale, of Easy Brady; three sons, Ray Bickel Jr. and his wife, Donna, of Sligo; John Bickel of Butler; Bobby Bickel of Sligo; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren He is also survived by two brothers, Paul Bickel and his wife Thelma; Bill Bickel and his wife, Elzina; and 10 sisters, Mary Geist and her husband, Joe; Joy Bickel; Lois Waterson and her husband, Howard; Alerda Freeman and her husband Dick; Carol Linnon and her husband, Jim; Dorothy and her husband, Jake, of North Carolina; Virginia McElhaney and her husband, Robert; Ruth Nelson and her husband, Paul; Helen McCauley and her husband, Charlie; and Bonnie Deeter and her husband, Duke. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Bickel was preceded in death by two brothers, Dave Bickel and George Bickel, and one sister, Zella Mae. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Sligo Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. John Panneton officiating. Deeter, 79, of 2047 Donation Hill Road, Cooperstown, died at 10:51 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, at his residence. Born May 14, 1929, in Jackson Township, he was the son of the late Clarence O. Deeter and Iva M. Overmoyer. Mr. Deeter was a self-employed builder and contractor for Maple Lane Development, often known as "Deeterville." He was a dedicated church member and loving father. Mr. Deeter was a model airplane enthusiast who built an experimental aircraft which he piloted, and he also was an inventor with a number of patents, having built many cars, trucks, boats and recreation items. He was married Dec. 16, 1950, to Patricia A. Dykins, who survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Deeter is survived by five children, Kathleen "Kit" Martin and her husband, Glenn, of Meadville, Pamela Gerali and her husband, James, of Naples, Fla., Victoria Orr of Cooperstown, Melissa Incorvia of Cooperstown and Robin Deeter of Hobe Sound, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Carol Martin and her husband, Don, of Cooperstown. Flockerzi, 67, a resident of the Oil City Presbyterian Home and formerly of Luther Place in Oil City, died at 6 am Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. Born Jan. 26, 1941, in Fertigs, he was a son of Harvey D. and Viola Marie Stahl Flockerzi. Mr. Flockerzi was a graduate of Cranberry High School. He worked at Weston's and Rice's Trailer Court, and he retired in 1999 from Oil City Hospital. Mr. Flockerzi was a member of the Oil City Church of the Nazarene and the Pinegrove Volunteer Fire Department, and he volunteered at Oil City Hospital. He enjoyed woodworking, working outdoors and helping others. Surviving are a brother, George W. Flockerzi and his wife, Sara, of Dempseytown; three sisters, Marlyn Caldwell and husband, Jack, of Seneca, Dorothy Woods and her husband, Robert, of Franklin and Virginia Wensel of Venus; one niece, five nephews and 12 great nieces and nephews; and four special cousins, Steve and Nicholas Fox and Emily and Laura Flockerzi, all of Venus. Frantz Jr., 88, of Drake Drive, Oil City, formerly of Seneca and a World War II veteran, went home to the Lord on Friday, Nov. 28, 2008. Born Aug. 12, 1920, in Perryville, Clarion County, he was the son of the late Virgil V. Frantz Sr. and Sarah Mae Jordan. Mr. Frantz graduated in 1941 from Parker High School and then attended trade school in New Castle, where he trained as a machinist. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 until 1946 during World War II and was stationed in the South Pacific. Mr. Frantz was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, a member of Petrolia Lodge 363 and a 32nd Degree member of the Valley of Oil City and the Valley of New Castle. He was also a member of the Cranberry Area Lions Club for many years. He was a member of and attended services at Seneca United Methodist Church. Mr. Frantz enjoyed vegetable gardening, working in his yard and farming. Mr. Frantz was employed at Glass Containers Corp. in Reno as a mold maker, retiring in 1982 after more than 40 years of service. He was married April 9, 1946, to the former Kathryn Rose McKee, and she preceded him in death on July 26, 1997. He later married Dorothy Ripper on July 18, 1998, and she survives. Also surviving are a son, Jay S. Frantz and his wife, Barbara, of Franklin; four step-children, Dorothy Lenfestey and her husband, Jeff, of Perrysburg, Ohio, John Ressler and his wife, Sandy, of Colorado Springs, Rebecca Hartman of California, and Dan Ripper and his wife, Rossalynn, of Maryland; nine grandchildren, Julia Lefkovitz, Brian Culbertson, Philip Frantz, Louren and Jason Eneix, John Ressler Jr., William Ressler and Christopher and Nicholas Hartman; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Piestrack of Beccaria, Martha Guntrum of Fordland, Mo., and Helen Hagan of Parker. Kenniston Sr., 69, of 11 Warren St., Oil City, a retired postmaster, died unexpectedly at 10:44 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 26, 2008, in UPMC Presbyterian of Pittsburgh Born May 2, 1939, in Oil City in the family home that he lived in, he was the son of the late Clarence and Anna Shaffer Kenniston. He graduated from Oil City High School in 1957. A veteran of the United States Army, he had served from Jan. 28, 1962, until Jan. 28, 1968. He was a specialist 4. Mr. Kenniston was a member of St. Joseph Church He was a 29-year employee of the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1994 as postmaster of the Seneca post office. He enjoyed bingo, gambling, hunting and collecting coins. Mr. Kenniston was a 24-year member of the Cranberry Lions Club and was a past president of the organization. He is survived by three children, Melissa Kenniston and her fiancé, Charles Alcorn, of Franklin, Thomas W. Kenniston Jr of Pittsburgh and Kimberly Wilson and her husband, Bill, of Brentwood, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler and Bryce Johnston of Bluffton, Ohio, and Billy and Cameron Wilson of Brentwood, Tenn. He is also survived by two brothers, Joseph Kenniston of Oil City and James Kenniston of Baltimore, Md., and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Kenniston was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Kenniston and Robert Kenniston, and two sisters, Judy Russell and Susie Gdanitz. Rebecca Hirsch Martin, 90, of Kossuth died Thursday evening, Nov. 27, 2008, at Highland Oaks in Shippenville. Born March 25, 1918, in Scrubgrass Township, Venango County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas E. and Jessie L. Shoup Stover. She married William R. Hirsch, who preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 1979. She then married Howard F. Martin, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 1995. Mrs. Martin was the postmaster in Kossuth and Russell until her retirement. She attended the Trinity E.C. Church and was a former member of the National League of Postmasters and a former member of NARFE. She sang with the Friends of Christ music ministry. Mrs. Martin is survived by two sons, David Hirsch and his wife, Mary, of Nickleville and Richard Hirsch of Nickleville; two daughters, Wilma Weaver and her husband, Glenn, of Franklin and Emma Hurrelbrink and her husband, Robert, of Kossuth; two step-daughters, Betty Kincaid of Mountain View, Calif., and Paula Lambert of Portland, Ore.; 22 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. In addition to her parents and husbands, Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by a son, Ted Hirsch, in 2006; a granddaughter, Sheila Hirsch, in 1965; a great-grandson, Robert Kincaid, in 1995; a sister, Jean Stevens; and a son-in-law, Carl Beebe, in 1966.
