Head, Ruther Glen, Va., formerly of the Oil City area James "Jim" MaHood, of Butler Street, Clintonville Leslie Earl "Hickory" Reed, Reed Road, Clarion Beulah DeLong Titus, formerly of Rocky Grove Vernon M. Harris, 82, of Irwin Township, Harrisville, passed away at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday, Nov.18, 2008, at Grove City Medical Center. Born Sept. 22, 1926, in Ringos Mill, Ky., he was the son of the late Marian and Annis Harris. Mr. Harris received his education in Hills Boro, Ky. He was married Dec. 31, 1954, to Helen L. Baker, who survives. The couple would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary in December. Mr. Harris was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in Okinawa, Japan. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Army Occupation Medal and the World War II Victory Ribbon. Mr. Harris attended Peters Chapel United Methodist Church. He worked for more than 60 years as a circular head saw operator for Harris Lumber Co. in Pearl, Victory Township. Mr. Harris was a life member of VFW Post 1835 in Franklin. He was an avid gardener and loved spending time with his family and being outdoors. In addition to his wife, Mr. Harris is survived by two children, Kathryn Frank and her husband, James, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, and Kenneth Harris and his wife, Charlene, of North Tazewell, Va.; two stepsons, Kenneth Woods Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Tyler, Texas, and Donald Woods and his wife, Kathy, of Oil City; one brother, William L. Harris and his wife, Pauline, of Mercer; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Harris was preceded in death by one brother, Earl Harris; and five sisters, Lula Day, Hazel Riggs, Jessie McClurg, Agnes Rankin and an infant sister, Maude Harris. Born in Pennsylvania, she was a 1936 graduate of the Oil City School of Nursing and a 1958 graduate of the Boston School of Nursing, in Massachusetts. Ms. Head had retired as Lt. Commander in the United States Navy after a 24 year career. She served during WWII as a Navy nurse aboard the hospital ship USS Repose with the 7th Fleet in the Pacific. She was a life member of the Pennsylvania Nursing Association and the Military Officers Association of America. Ms. Head was an active member of Ladysmith Baptist Church for over 30 years, serving as Missions Director and Sunday School teacher. Ms. Head is survived by a sister, Betty Hall of Pennsylvania; three nieces, Deborah Boyer and her husband, Dr. Walter Boyer, of Oil City; Susan Dahle and her husband, Robert, of Oil City; Lynda Bagnell and her husband, Herbert, of Tionesta; three nephews, Donald Hall and his wife, Kathy, of Tionesta; Robert Hall and his wife, Ruth, of Ambridge; Joseph Hall and his wife, Marcy, of Columbia, S.C. She is also survived numerous nieces and nephews; two sisters-in law, Helen Head of St. Petersburg, Fla.; Marie Head of West Hickory; and a special friend, Joan Stravinksy of Ruther Glen, Va. Ms. Head was preceded in death by two brothers, Merle Hall and Wayne Hall, and a niece, Laurie Hall. James "Jim" MaHood, 52, of Butler Street, Clintonville, passed away at 8:30 a.m., Nov. 18, 2008, at the Grove City Medical Center, after an sudden illness. Born Oct. 26, 1956, in Grove City, he was the son of the late Richard MaHood and Louis Allshouse MaHood. Mr. MaHood was married Oct. 26, 1984 to Shirley Montgomery MaHood, who survives. Mr. MaHood enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, drag racing, truck pulls and WWE Wrestling. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four step sons, David R. Rager Jr. and his wife, Melissa, of Harrisville; William J. Rager and his wife, Holly, of Alabama; Thomas R. Eddy Jr. of Clintonville; Michael L. Snow of Clintonville; one sister, Thelma Sowers of Grove City; five brothers, Joseph MaHood of Karns City; Edward MaHood of Clintonville; Ronald MaHood of Clintonville; Paul MaHood of Polk; Richard MaHood of Clintonville; and 10 grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. MaHood was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Ann Seilbaugh, Margie Snow and Florence Beatty. Born Aug. 22, 1919, Mr. Reed was the son of the late Leslie Wallace Reed and Bernice Reaghart Reed. He was married May 28, 1977 to Martha Mae Byers who survives. Mr. Reed worked at Fulton Lumber then Maxwell Plumbing & Heating for 18 years and retired from Clarion University after 18 years. He was a member of the Grace Community Church in Curlsville. Mr. Reed served in World War II from 1942 to 1945. He enjoyed woodwork and was a volunteer at the nursing home. In addition to his wife, Mr. Reed is survived by a daughter, Bernice McClain of Miola; two sons, Leslie "Lorie" Reed of Strattanville; Mark "Doug" Reed and his wife, Nellie Sox Reed, of Miola;and a sister, Gertrude Walter of Arizona. He is survived by seven grandchildren, Melinda Coultes, Melissa Campbell and her husband, Berry; Michelle DeSanto and her husband, Eric; Gloria Lambing and her husband, Dan; Jason Reed and his fiancé, Christine Bartzer; and Cory and Rob Yoho. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; a special friend, Charles Coultes of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Reed was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma "Mick" Schill; a brother, Oliver "Chill" Reed; a granddaughter, Jill Reed Eselman; and a son-in-law, Carl McClain. Beulah DeLong Titus, 91, formerly of Rocky Grove, passed away Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at Swaim Health Center in Greenridge Village, Newville, Pa. Mrs. Titus was born in West Kittanning to the late Harvey W. and Olive Willings Snow. She retired as a cook from Polk State School. She enjoyed her family, reading, embroidering and traveling. She was previously married to John Edward DeLong who preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 1982. She married again on Feb. 12, 1990, to Wayne Howard Titus, who passed away June 14, 2008. Mrs. Titus is survived by a son, Edward D. Thomas of Oregon; two daughters, Linda M. Thomas of Mechanicsburg; Connie L. Thomas and her husband, James G., of Mechanicsburg; a step-daughter, Naomi Osborne of Pennsylvania; two sister, Loretta Shuffstall of Tampa, Fla.; Vera Snyder of Franklin. Mrs. Titus was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands and parents, Mrs. Titus was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Betty Crawford; a step-son, Johnny Lee DeLong; a son-in-law, George B. Thomas; three brothers, Ray Snow, Howard Snow and Walter Snow; and three sisters, Myrtle Hazlette, Florence Snow and Freda Orsino. A viewing will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Robert W.
