Park Avenue, Meadville, formerly of Congress Hill Road, Franklin, died at 2 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2009, at Wesbury Home in Meadville. Born July 1, 1924, in Middlefield, Ohio, she was the daughter of Gertrude Amelia Finlaw and Mr. Fitzmaurice. Mrs. Baker was employed as a secretary at Joy Manufacturing. She also worked at JC Penney, at the Franklin High School cafeteria and as a beautician. She enjoyed golfing, water skiing, boating, swimming, sewing and playing cards. She married Lloyd Edward Gene Baker on Sept. 7, 1946, and he preceded her in death. Mrs. Baker is survived by three sisters, Jessie Hoover of Lucinda and Mary Ann Bennet and Jenivive Confer of Kane. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Boals and Mina Cochran. Buchanan, 92, of 328 Park Ave., Oil City, died Sunday, June 14, 2009, at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh. Born Aug. 4, 1916, in Cranberry Township, Venango County, she was the daughter of Gifford E. and Pearl Porter Exley, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married May 11, 1940, to Howard McBride Buchanan, who preceded her in death in October 1996. Emily graduated in 1934 from Oil City High School She was employed by Quaker State Oil Refining Co. prior to her marriage. Mrs. Buchanan was a member of Hasson Heights Presbyterian Church for nearly 60 years and a past matron and life member of the Order of Eastern Star. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ben and Nancy Buchanan of St. Albans, Mo., Larry "Chip" and DeAnna Buchanan of Rome, Ohio, and Peter and Juanita Buchanan of Stow, Ohio. Also surviving are her grandchildren and their spouses, Dr. Matthew and Angela Buchanan of Arlington, Va., Meghan and Jeff Roberts of Columbus, Ohio, Kristy and Lawrence Bluemmel of Chardon, Ohio, and Chad and Holly Buchanan of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; a granddaughter, Kimberly Buchanan of Stow, Ohio; two step-grandchildren, Jamie Hamilton III and Ashlee Hamilton, both of Union City, Tenn.; and seven great-grandsons, Jack, Benton and Wilson Roberts, Ryan and Aidan Bluemmel, Jude Buchanan and Cal Buchanan. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister, Reba E. Manson; and two brothers, Merlyn H. Exley and Paul P. Exley. House of Butler passed away at 11:09 p.m. Monday, June 8, 2009, at Butler Memorial Hospital. Born in Renovo, she was the daughter of the late Domenico and Rose Polycastro Tartaglia. She was a homemaker who enjoyed her family and loved to travel. She will be greatly missed by her family. Mrs. House is survived by her husband of 48 years, Douglas L. House; a daughter, Karen Camlin of Colonial Beach, Va.; two sons, Kevin House of Orchard Park, N.Y., and Kenneth House of Butler; five grandchildren, Kyle House, Emily and Michael Camlin and Logan and Jeremiah House; three sisters, Sylvia Ives and Grace Scott, both of Emporium, and Rose Ann Taylor of Wilmington, N.C.; two brothers, Edward Tartaglia of Emporium and Robert Tartaglia of Arkansas; and a number of nieces and nephews. A complete obituary will be published Wednesday in The Derrick. Betsy Macher, 59, of Polk Center, passed away at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. Dorothy A. Mong, 93, of Highland Oaks nursing home, Shippenville, formerly of the Ninevah area, went home to her Lord Jesus Christ at 5:15 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Clarion Hospital. Born May 10, 1916, she was the daughter of Clarence and Grace Adams, both of whom preceded her in death. She celebrated her 93rd birthday on Mother's Day and was the last of her generation. She was married Oct. 31, 1937, to Harold Jonathan Mong, who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker who loved her family and her church. Her years at Highland Oaks were a delight and the staff was like a second family to her. Mrs. Mong was a member of Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, the Ladies Bible Class and the Missionary Fellowship. Her church gave her strength. Surviving are a son, the Rev. Keith Eugene Mong, pastor of Bethany EC Church, Martindale, Lancaster County, and his wife, Cheryl, of Martindale; and three granddaughters, Valerie Schubert and her husband, Ed, of Honduras, Central America, Sharon Hicks and her husband, Mark, of Oil City, and Robin Ace and her husband, Jeff, of Ninevah. Also surviving are five great-granddaughters, Samantha Burke, Kylie Hicks, Kirsten Hicks, Cheyence "Pati" Schubert and Joselyn Ace; and seven great-grandsons, Wesley Schubert, Scott Andrew Burke Jr., Adam Schubert, Trevor Hicks and Grant, Clint and Johnathan Ace. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Don and Ray Adams. The family will celebrate Dorothy's life by receiving friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday in the David C. McEntire Funeral Home, 504 E. Penn St., Knox.
