    3. The Derrick, June 10, 2009: M. Rita McCauley Banner, Marble Theodore Robert Johnson, Toronto, Canada, formerly of Oil City Mary Margaret Mahaffey, Toledo, Ohio, formerly of Franklin Reed L. Shreckengost, Knox Delores Jean White, formerly of Clarion and Oil City M. Rita McCauley Banner, 74, of Marble passed away at UPMC Passavant in Pittsburgh. Born Dec. 3, 1934, she was the daughter of Samuel and Julia Ditz McCauley, and they preceded her in death. She was a lifelong resident of the Fryburg/Marble area and graduated from Farmington High School. She was married Aug. 31, 1957, to Ronald F. Banner, who preceded her in death on July 12, 1986. Mrs. Banner was a member of St. Michael Church in Fryburg. She enjoyed shopping, flower gardening, Sunday dinners with her family, bingo and playing cards. Mrs. Banner worked in Chandler Dining Hall at Clarion University. She is survived by three daughters: Julie A. Weaver and her husband, Kelly J., and their children, Tyler and Brett; Jackie Way and her husband, Dan, and their children, Jordan and Logan; and Jill M. Nick and her husband, John, and their children, Kelsey and Dylan; and a son, Frank L. Banner. Also surviving are a brother, Paul McCauley and his wife, Diane, of Houston; three brothers-in-law, Joseph Banner, Gerald Bauer and Jack Miller; four sisters-in-law, Mary Louise Banner, Cathy Bell, Geraldine McCauley and Betty McCauley; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Banner was preceded in death by four brothers, Lee "Dick" McCauley, Samuel McCauley, Cletus McCauley and Floyd McCauley; and three sisters, Clara Siegel, Ruth Beary and Gertrude Sanner. There will be a private family viewing. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Michael Church with the Rev. David Poulson as the presider. Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the steeple fund at St. Michael Church in Fryburg. Faller Funeral Home, Inc., of Fryburg is handling arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.fallerfuneralhome.com Theodore Robert Johnson, 81, of Toronto, Canada, formerly of Oil City, passed away gracefully with his family at his side Thursday, June 4, 2009. Mr. Johnson was the son of Theodore Robert Johnson Sr. and Birdina Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, JoAnn Gates; a brother, William Johnson and his wife, Marilyn; a daughter, Sharee; three sons, Jeff, Chris and Drew; and seven grandchildren. Mary Margaret Mahaffey, 86, of Toledo, Ohio, formerly of Franklin, passed away suddenly but peacefully on Monday, June 1, 2009, at the Toledo Hospital, surrounded by her family and her parish pastor, Father Singler. Born Aug. 27, 1922, in Franklin, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Doherty Logue, and was very proud of being 100 percent Irish. She was married Dec. 1, 1945, in St. Patrick Church of Franklin to Robert "Bob" Mahaffey, who survives. She met her future husband at a family wedding; they fell in love and were married six months later. They supported and loved each other dearly, holding hands and kissing one another for the next 64 1/2 years, always happy to be together. Mrs Mahaffey was considered by her family to be a perfect wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She dedicated her life to her family, her faith and her friends. She was a rare individual with a loyal and true heart. She had a zest for life and will be remembered for her quick wit, sharp mind and endless friendships. She had a knack for remembering people's names and their birthdays and was always the perfect hostess. She was a member of Rosary Cathedral parish in Toledo for more than 50 years, and that is where her children attended school. She belonged to the Mother's Guild and the Altar Society, volunteered at the school library for a number of years and was a Cub Scout den mother. For many years she was a tireless coordinator for a neighborhood handicapped child's therapy program, and she was on many committees. She and her husband were Mobile Meals volunteers and received Angel Awards for their service. They were also very involved with the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Her favorite hobbies were talking on the phone with friends and relatives, feeding anyone who stopped by the house and reading the daily newspaper and every women's magazine, keeping current with everything including her strong political views. In her spare time she loved saying the Rosary and embroidering. In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Peggy Kurdys, Mary Anne (Barry) Skeldon, Tom (Nancy) Mahaffey and Steve (Karen) Mahaffey; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert II; her parents; two brothers and two sisters. Visitation was held Friday, June 5, in the Gasiorowski-Hanneman Funeral Home & Crematory, 1757 Tremainsville Road Eoad (at Sylvania Avenue), Toledo. A vigil service was held at 7 p.m. Friday, and prayers were recited at 9 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. A funeral Mass was held Saturday in Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral. Interment followed in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Rosary Cathedral church or Mobile Meals. He attended Redbank High School and was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in New Bethlehem. He also participated in the Knox Rod and Gun Club. Delores Jean White, 72, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Clarion and Oil City, died Monday, June 8, 2009. She was a kind person with a generous heart and a deep love of animals, especially for her beloved cats. She was a lifelong supporter of many animal charities including several Sarasota area shelters. Survivors include a sister, Donna Garner, of Florida; a brother, William White of Pennsylvania; four nieces, Linda, Amy, Laura and Allison; two nephews, William and David; and many beloved grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Private services for the family will be held in Pennsylvania at a later date. Toale Brothers Funeral Home in Sarasota, Fla, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
