Dashner Bowen, 90, of Sunny Road, Lickingville, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at the Golden LivingCenter in Shippenville. Born Dec. 4, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Henry E. and Korona R. Schmid Bickel. She was married March 11, 1936, to Alire Dashner, who preceded her in death on May 25, 1969. Later she married Elmer Bowen and he preceded her in death in February 1973. Mrs. Bowen was a member of Good Shepard United Methodist Church and enjoyed crocheting, quilting and gardening. She is survived by two sons, William Henry Dashner and wife, Marilyn, of Lickingville and Edward Leroy Dashner of Franklin; a brother, George "Hank" Bickel of Seneca; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Elda Wilson and Ardelle Reagle and a brother, R. Dewayne Bickel. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Faller Funeral Home, Inc. in Fryburg. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Dave Coul presiding. Following the service, Mrs. Bowen will be buried in the Venus Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to the Good Shepard United Methodist Church or Faller Funeral Home, Inc. Daniel B. Breniman, 62, of Route 66, Shippenville, died unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at his home. Born May 11, 1946, in Jefferson County, he was a son of Gene C. Breniman and Joan Reinsel Breniman Pasquarette. He was married Feb. 21, 2000, to Diana Hoffman Breniman, who survives. Mr. Breniman served in the Army Reserves. He was a Catholic. He worked as the controller for Kahle's Kitchens and belonged to the American Legion Post #66 in Clarion. In addition to being an avid golfer, Mr. Breniman was a member of the Clarion Oaks and the Pinecrest Country Club. Along with his wife, he is survived by his mother, Joan Reinsel Breniman Pasquarette and his step-father, Roy, of Shippenville; two sons, Eric Breniman of Philadelphia and Tyler Breniman of South Korea; two step-sons, Michael Bowersox of Seattle, Wash., and Terry Bowersox of Woodbridge, Va.; and four brothers, Patrick, James and Benjamin Breniman, all of Shippenville and Samuel Breniman of Emporium. He is also survived by three sisters, Margaret Breniman of Alabama, Kathryn Hardgrove of Virginia and Jayne Beichner of Shippenville. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Jon Breniman. Visitation will be from from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.Tuesday at the Goble Funeral Home & Crematory, 330 Wood St in Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Monty Sayers officiating. Interment will be held at the Clarion Cemetery. Kathleen Joan Edinger, 73, of Shippenville, formerly of Knox, died Saturday morning, Jan. 10, 2009, at the Clarion Hospital. Flinchbaugh, 61, a resident of the Oil City Presbyterian Home for the last one and a half years, died at 7:16 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, in the nursing home after a six-year battle with cancer. Born Feb. 24, 1947, in Oil City, he was a son of the late Albert and Pauline Whitmer Flinchbaugh. Mr. Flinchbaugh was a 1966 graduate of Cranberry High School and a 1968 graduate of Triangle Tech. He worked as a draftsman at CPT for five years, prior to becoming a chef. Later, he worked at the Carriage Inn, Oil Baron, Iron Bridge at Hunter 's Station, Yellow Dog Lantern and finally with the Franklin Club. Mr. Flinchbaugh enjoyed camping, cooking lavish meals for his family and friends, black labs and beagles and the Steelers. He is survived by a brother, Richard Flinchbaugh of Seneca. There will be no visitation. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held in Brandon Cemetery. The Morrison Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. David James "D.J." Kellogg, 84, a resident of 1223 Plain Grove Road, Volant, Plaingrove Township, Lawrence County, died at 11:35 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at Orchard Manor in Grove City. Born Nov. 21, 1924, in Mercer Township, Butler County, he was a son of the late William Lorenzo Kellogg and Fannie Florence Cooper Kellogg. He was married March 14, 1946, to H. May Garlick, who preceded him in death on March 26, 2007. Mr. Kellogg, along with his family, owned and operated Kellogg Farms, Inc. and Kellogg Trucking, LLC. He was a Protestant. He enjoyed working, hunting and his dog, Annie. He is survived by two daughters, Carol L. Burnett and husband, Robert, of Harrisville and Mary Lou Phipps and husband, Ronald, of Mercer; three sons, David James "Jim" Kellog Jr. and wife, Karen, of Slippery Rock, Daniel Joseph "Joe" Kellogg and wife, Jill, of Slippery Rock and Mark Scott Kellogg and wife, Theo, of Slippery Rock; 17 granchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, William W. Kellogg and three infant grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle Street in Slippery Rock. "Jiggs" Minich, 76, of 2368 Carriage Road, Fairmount City, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at Brookville Hospital. Born March 14, 1932, in North Freedom, he was a son of the late Conrad Leroy Minich and Hazel Estella (Boddorf) Minich. He was married June 1, 1963, to Leah Jane (Hoffman) Minich, who survives. He served as a combat engineer with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Minich worked as a heavy equipment operator and coal truck driver with various companies, including Minich Coal Co. and Reddinger Coal Co. He enjoyed farming and watching the Cattle Auction. He also liked NASCAR and being around his family, especially his grandchildren. Mr. Minich was a member of Leisure Run United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Jeff Minich and wife, Jane, of Lucinda and Jerod Minich and wife, Heidi, of Henryville; five grandchildren, Alana, Sam and Logan Minich of Lucinda and Jenn and Eli Minich of Henryville; a sister, Verna Reitz and husband, A.K., of Mayport; and three brothers, Wayne Minich of Brookville, Glenn Minich and wife, Delores, of Home and Clyde Minich and wife, Joanne, of Clarion. In addition to his parents, Mr. Minich was preceded in death by two brothers, Grail Minich and John Darl Minich. Helen L. Richey, 96, a resident of 558 Pioneer Road, Franklin, died at 6 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at her residence. Born may 23, 1912, in Franklin, she was a daughter of the late Thomas C. Richey Sr. and Maud Clever. Mrs. Richey was employed for 39 years at Manifold Printing and was a member of the East Grove United Methodist Church.
