Baker, 55, of 3820 State Route 208, Kennerdell, died at 2:09 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, at her residence of an illness she had suffered from since 2003. Born March 11, 1953, in Ellwood City, she was a daughter of Donald V. Burnett and Janet L. Chambers Burnett. She was married July 28, 1978, to Michael L. Baker, who survives. She was a 1971 Grove City High School graduate and was also a graduate of Edinboro University. Mrs. Baker was a senior program analyst for the Federal Investigative Services Division of Operation Personnel Management, where she had worked since 1977. She was a member of Hendersonville United Methodist Church. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Baker is survived by two children, Chad M. Baker and Matthew Aaron Baker, both at home; her parents, Donald and Janet Burnett of Harrisville; two brothers, Ronald L. Burnett and his wife, Debbie, of Berkley, Mass., and Jay N. Burnett and his wife, Susan, of Rehoboth, Mass.; one niece, Katie Burnett; and four nephews, Braden, Ashton, Jeremy and Jonathon Burnett. Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her grandparents and by one brother, Bob Burnett. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Hendersonville United Methodist Church. Davis, 82, formerly of 3 Kirkwood Ave., Oil City, died at 11:50 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, at the Presbyterian Home in Oil City. Born Oct. 14, 1926, in Clarion County, she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Helen Fetzer Neely. She was married March 31, 1945, to Fred C. Davis, who preceded her in death on March 7, 1999. Mrs. Davis was a graduate of Oil City High School and has lived in the Oil City area all her life. She was a homemaker, but had worked as a pharmacy assistant with the Oil City Hospital and also in the kitchen at Clarion University's Venango Campus. She was Protestant in faith and enjoyed writing poetry, playing piano, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Davis is survived by two sons, Fred C. Davis Jr. and wife, Elizabeth, of Phoenix, Ariz. and Wesley K. Davis of Dalton, Ga.; a daughter, Sharilyn E. Weaver of Oil City; a sister, Mary McNellie and husband, Don, of Cherrytree; and three grandchildren, Leigh Ann Weaver of Virginia, Gregory T. Weaver of Oil City and Collin G.N. Davis of Phoenix, Ariz. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death be a sister, Ruby Neely and two brothers, Dick and Harold Neely. (Worth Township), Grove City, died at 6:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio. Born Jan. 26, 1917, in Worth Township, Mercer County, he was the son of Thomas Arthur Jamison and Sara Elizabeth Montgomery Jamison. He was married Oct. 1, 1937, to the former Louise W. Pettitt, who survives. He was a Grove City High School graduate, Class of 1934. Mr. Jamison was a self-employed dairy farmer for 47 years. He was a 60-year member of the Millbrook Grange, Mercer County Pomona Grange, Pennsylvania State Grange and the national Grange. Mr. Jamison was an elder, served as a trustee and he was a Sunday school teacher at Ebenezer Church. He served on the board of directors of Farm Bureau/Agway and he was a Worth Township supervisor. Mr. Jamison was also a member of the F and AM Lake Lodge No. 434 of Sandy Lake. In addition to his wife, Mr. Jamison is survived by three children, Celia Taylor of Grove City, Eric A. Jamison and his wife, Linda, of Poland, Ohio, and Robert Jamison and his wife, Mary, of Brisbane, Australia; a grandson, Wilbur J. Taylor and his wife, Rene Taylor; and two great-grandsons, Justin M. and Ethan N. Taylor. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jamison was preceded in death by two brothers, J. Ellsworth Jamison and an infant brother, Leroy, and a son-in-law, Louis Taylor. Sheridan "Sherd" Kitchen, 77, of Route 66, Sligo, Monroe Township, Clarion County, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. Born Feb. 2, 1931, in Westover, he was the son of William Archie and Asenth Beck Kitchen. He was married July 23, 1955, to Edith Gates, who survives. Mr. Kitchen worked for Chapmen Auto Salvage and later retired from C&K Coal Co. He enjoyed cutting wood, loved the outdoors and working outdoors, was a NASCAR racing fan and enjoyed motorcycles. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Bill Kitchen and his wife, Valerie, of Knox, Debra Roller and her husband, Chester, of Clintonville, Don Kitchen and his wife, Lori, of Miola, and Donna Wensel of Clarion; and one brother, Clair Kitchen and his wife, Greta, of Sligo. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, Michael Kitchen, Jason Kitchen, Kyle Kitchen, Kaleb Kitchen, Laura Maudlin, Debra Smith, Dan Murphy, Di Smith, Zac Roller, Chelsea Kitchen, Emily Kitchen, Sammy Wensel, Samantha Wensel, Stevie Wensel and Scott Wensel; two step-grandchildren, Chet Roller and Jenny Roller; nine great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; extended family members Denny Murphy, Peg Gourley and Ted Wensel; and numerous nieces, nephews, close friends and neighbors. Lawrence, 72, of 110 High St., Oil City, died at 3 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. Born March 11, 1936, in Clarion County, he was a son of the late Frederick N. and Maye Whitman Lawrence. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1954 to 1956. Mr. Lawrence enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He also enjoyed breakfast with his friends and riding his motorcycle. On Feb. 16, 1974, he was married to the former Marianne Evans Vogus, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Cathy and Mark Patrick of Columbus, Ohio, Chris and Cornell Jones of North Carolina, Terry Lawrence of Oil City, Tina Lawrence of Circleville, Ohio, and Ray and Paula Lawrence of Chillicothe, Ohio; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; three step-children, Steve Vogus, Lori and Clark Harris and Jim Vogus, all of Oil City; five step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are five sisters, Norma and Don Shreve and Nola Dickinson, all of Oil City, Evelyn Kearney of Meadville, Nancy Weaver of West Virginia, and Judy and John Wilson of Texas; five brothers, Ray Lawrence of Franklin, Richard Lawrence and Ken and Darlie Lawrence, Bob and Darlene Lawrence and Earl and Penny Lawrence, all of Oil City; and his two best buddies, Teddy and Lacy. Gerald "Skip" Moyer Sr., 71, of Gray, Tenn., formerly of Franklin, passed away Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, Tenn. Mr. Moyer was a native of Franklin and had resided in the Gray area for the past three years. He was a loyal member of Gray United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir and served as vice president of the United Methodist Men' s Association at the church. Mr. Moyer was a retiree of Joy Manufacturing and the Arnold Palmer Children's and Women's Hospital in Orlando, Fla. He had also worked at DaVita Inc. Laboratory in Deland, Fla. Mr. Moyer is survived by his wife, Bonna Moyer of Gray, Tenn.; one daughter, Lorri Moyer of Kissimmee, Fla.; two sons, Gerald Moyer of Gray, Tenn., and Barry Moyer and his wife, Elena, of Hernando, Miss.; one sister, Janet Coleman and her husband, Ralph, of Merritt Island, Fla.; one brother, Jay Moyer and his wife, Janet, of Leesburg, Fla.; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Moyer was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Moyer and Della Moyer Fuller. The family received friends Sunday at Gray United Methodist Church, then funeral services were held with Pastor Ramon Torres and Pastor Jody Ihfe officiating. Frances Eileen Peterson, 86, formerly of Sandy Lake-Grove City Road, Worth Township, Mercer County, passed away at 5:23 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, 2009, in Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Grove City, after a period of failing health. She was born Sept. 18, 1922, in Worth Township to Floyd F. and Jessie W. Buckley Kilgore. Mrs. Peterson graduated from the former Sandy Lake High School in 1940 and from Slippery Rock State Teachers College in 1944 with a degree in education. She retired from Lakeview School District as an elementary teacher in 1985. She was an active member of Sandy Lake Wesleyan Church where she taught Sunday school. Mrs. Peterson was devoted to her family and her faith throughout her life, and she cherished her sisters and friends. She married Harry R. Peterson on Sept. 30, 1944, and he preceded her in death Oct. 30, 1973. Mrs. Peterson is survived by one daughter, Harleen Thomas and her husband, Ric, of Sandy Lake; and four sons, Floyd Peterson and his wife, Karen, of Scottsdale, Ariz., Bruce Peterson and his wife, Cheryl, of Greenville, N.C., Scott Peterson and his wife, Shelly, of Sandy Lake, and Jeff Peterson and his wife, Robin, of Apoka, Fla. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and twin sisters Joan Kilgore of Grove City and Mrs. Orville (Jean) Gadsby of Stoneboro. Slaugenhoup, 95, of 11273 Route 58, Sligo, died at 3 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. Born May 21, 1913, in Licking Township, where he was a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late Edward and Lula Shindledecker Slaugenhoup. Mr. Slaugenhoup was a 1931 graduate of Sligo High School. He was married July 22, 1937, in Ripley, N.Y., to the former Mary Smith, who preceded him death Dec. 4, 2000. Mr. Slaugenhoup was a chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy and served from 1942-1945. He was stationed in Dutch Harbor, Ala., the Philippines and East Port, Maine, during World War II. He received a bachelor's degree from Clarion State Teachers College, working as a school teacher for 42 years until retiring in 1978. He started his teaching career in one-room schools in Kissinger Mills, Monarch, Regal and Rock School in Turniphole. He then taught social studies at Sligo High School, the Rimersburg Annex and Union High School before retiring from teaching in the elementary school at Keystone School District. Mr. Slaugenhoup was a member of Sligo Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and Sunday school teacher for many years. He was also a charter member of the former Murphy Grange, where he held all the offices over the years. In addition, he was a member of the former Sligo Saddle Club and belonged to Shearer-Shick American Legion Post 454 in Rimersburg. In the past, Mr. Slaugenhoup served on the board of directors for the Southern Clarion County Volunteer Ambulance Service. He is survived by two sons, Paul Slaugenhoup and his wife, Sharon, of Parker, and Ray Slaugenhoup and his wife, Karen, of Kittery, Maine; one daughter, Jean McCafferty of Magnolia, Mass.; and seven grandchildren, Garret Slaugenhoup of Anchorage, Ala., Molly Slaugenhoup of Baltimore, Md., David Slaugenhoup of Bristol, Kaitlyn and Jilian McCafferty of Boston, Mass., Abbey Slaugenhoup LaRose of South Portland, Maine, and Robert Slaugenhoup of South Berwick, Maine. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Slaugenhoup was preceded in death by six brothers, Reed, Harry, Frank, Ben, Glenn and Boyd. There will be no visitation, and funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery in Sligo. Mrs. Debra Louise Yoder, 55, of 364 Ross Drive, Saegertown, an Oil City native who was a longtime employee of the postal service, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at Meadville Medical Center. She was born Nov. 2, 1953, in Oil City, the daughter of the late William and Mary (Veloudis) Hanel. She and Harry W. Yoder were married Oct. 13, 1979, and he preceded her in death on June 5, 2006. Mrs. Yoder was an active member of Saegertown United Methodist Church, where she had served on the administrative board as well as chairman of the Worship Committee for three years. She retired in 2005 as the postmaster at the Saegertown post office, where she had been employed for 22 years. She also served as the postmaster of the Utica post office from 1979 until 1983. She began her 30-year postal career in 1975 as a distribution clerk for the Oil City post office. A 1971 graduate of Cranberry High School, Debra went on to further her education by graduating from Slippery Rock College in 1975 with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. No matter where she lived, she was active in the community. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Stoneboro Chapter 110; the National Association of Post Masters of the U.S. (NAPUS); an officer in the Postal Clerks Union while working in Oil City; chaplain of the Kappa Delta Social Sorority; a member of BPO Elks Lodge 219 of Meadville; a member of the Utica Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, also serving as treasurer of the fire department; a member of Saegertown Women's Improvement Club, serving as treasurer for five years; and an active member of French Creek Valley Ducks Unlimited, also serving on the Banquet Committee. Debra also volunteered as a Tiger Cub coach, served as treasurer of Pack 254 and was awarded the Cub Scouter of the Year Award. She was a former member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association. She is survived by a son, Dustin M. Yoder of Saegertown, two grandchildren Ryan Yoder and Zachary Yoder; and a brother, David Weiford and his wife, Ruth, of Pittsburgh. In addition to her husband of 26 years, Harry, and her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Harry E. Weiford, and a nephew, William Weiford.
