Haylett, Meadville Martha M. "Mike" Mong, Titusville Geraldine B. Prichard, Franklin Gloria R. Shick, Mayport Sgt. Christopher J. Smith, Emlenton John H. Weaver Sr., Ninevah Margaret A. Courson, 84, of 81 School Road, Rimersburg, died at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at her home. Born March 17, 1924, in Vandergrift, she was a daughter of James Orion and Emma Bigley Ramsey. She was married on June 19, 1940, to Paul L. Courson, who preceded her in death on May 5, 1979. Mrs. Courson was a homemaker and in the past worked at Owens-Illinois Glass Plant in Clarion. She also worked for the Davis Cookie Company in Rimersburg. She was a former member of the Associated Presbyterian Church in Rimersburg and currently attended Carwick Wesleyan Church. Mrs. Courson loved spending time with her family and friends, playing yahtzee, sewing, crocheting, and also painting. She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Hornberger and husband, Tom, of Templeton; three sons, Harold Courson of Aurora, Ohio, Larry Courson and wife, Patti, of Kent, Ohio and Carl Courson of Crestline, Ohio; and a son-in-law, Robert Derrit of Mantua, Ohio. She is also survived by two sisters, Mary Marie Ramsey of Worthington and Thelma "Joetta" McNaughton of Erie; a brother, Lloyd Grier Ramsey of Tacoma, Wash.; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Ellen Derrit in 2004; a grandson, Derek Courson; two sisters, Vida Ripple and an infant sister, Roletta Courson; and five brothers, James, Orion Irvin, Harry, Lanny and Johnnie Ramsey. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today in the Varner Funeral Home of Rimersburg with the Rev. Garry Guntrum, pastor of Carwick Wesleyan Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Rimersburg Cemetery. Richard A. "Dick" Croy, 67, of 489 George Junior Rd., Pine Township, a resident of Grove City for the past 21 years, died at 11:37 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at his home, following a year and a half illness. Born June 30, 1941, in Marion Township, Butler County, he was a son of Harry Bishop Croy and Lillian McFarland Croy. After graduating from Moniteau High School, he served with the U.S. Army in Germany during the Vietnam Era from 1961 to 1963. He was married April 18, 1964, to Marie Cooke. He worked as an assembler for General Electric Corporation in Grove City, retiring after 28 years of service from 1973 to 2001. He was formerly employed by Cooper Energy Services in Grove City from 1964 to 1973. He enjoyed yard work, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Protestant faith. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Stephanie Lynne Barr and husband, Gregory, of Slippery Rock and Michele Lee Brunson and husband, Jim, of Grove City; six grandchildren, Sarah and Adam Brunson, Benjamen and Nathan Popejoy and Brandon and Jason Barr; and four sisters, Ruby Taylor of Sharon, Garnett Hedglin and husband, Robert, of Grove City, Edith Sims of Slippery Rock and Zelma Heckman of Pique, Kan. He is also survived by two brothers, Harry Croy and wife, Freda, of Harrisville and Merle Croy and wife, Barbara, of Virginia Beach, Va. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Genie Croy and a sister, Helen Kilmer. Dunkle, 66, of 1366 State Route 157, Oil City, died at 12:20 am Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at Golden LivingCenter near Shippenville. Born Dec. 4, 1942, in Fryburg, she was a daughter of the late John H. Bigley Sr. and Freda Mae Martin Bigley. She was married Nov. 10, 1962, to Edward C. Dunkle, who preceded her in death on Aug. 9, 2004. Mrs. Dunkle enjoyed cooking, punch embroidery, drawing, crafts, fishing, hunting, auctions and flea markets, yard sales, collecting cookbooks and loved being with her family. Surviving are three children, James E. Dunkle and Mary DeLoe of Oil City, Beverly K. Dunkle of Oil City, and Kenneth E. Dunkle and wife, Gena, of Knox; five grandchildren, Amanda J. and Lisa M. Dunkle of Oil City, James R. Dunkle of Oil City and Devin J. Dunkle and Kayla R. Dunkle of Knox; and a great-granddaughter, Hailie E. Crowe of Oil City. Also surviving is a brother, Fred Bigley and wife, Debbie, of Franklin; a sister, Laura Beichner; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, John H. Bigley Jr. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Morrison Funeral Home. Eleanora Moon Emrick, 87, of Seneca, died at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at the Golden LivingCenter in Oil City. Born March 21, 1921, in Monarch Park, she was a daughter of the late Frank Charles and May Carroll Moon. She was married March 4, 1941, to Robert E. Emrick, who preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 2003. Mrs. Emrick worked as a bookkeeper and payroll clerk for Lug & Tug Construction and Supply, which was originally owned and operated by her husband and her brother, Dick Moon. She was a member of the Eastern Star and also the A.K. Shees. During her retirement years she enjoyed walking, playing cards and spoiling her cocker spaniel, Clancy. Surviving are a son, Jerry Emrick and wife, Toni, of Franklin; two daughters, Toni Kresinski and husband, Ted, of Oil City and Judy Dykins and husband, Hugh (Butch), of Seneca; and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Burl (Sherry Metzinger) Emrick of Seneca. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, Boddy Gene Cauvel, Tammy Botts, Wendy Dameron, Adam Emrick, Angela Tarr, Melanie Evans, Matthew Dykins, Robert Scott Emrick, Alexis Shingledecker, Kristofer Kresinski, and Kevin Kresinski and 19 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Burl E. "Butch" Emrick; a daughter, Barbara E. Cauvel; and a brother, Richard B. Moon. Futyma, 88, of 350 Park Avenue, Oil City, died at 8:53 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. He will be fondly remembered by his family and friends as a loving husband and wonderful father. Born Nov. 23, 1920, in Oil City, he was a son of the late Martin and Agnes Biela Futyma. He was married July 2, 1949, to Helen Andres by the Rev. Albin Majdanik in the Assumption B.V.M. Church in Oil City. The couple would have celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary in 2009. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, from 1942 to 1946, and attained the rank of Storekeeper Third Class. He was awarded the European Theater Ribbon, Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon and the American Theater Victory Medal. Mr. Futyma was a 1940 graduate of Oil City High School and has lived in the Oil City area all his life. He was employed by Sears & Roebuck for 43 years, working in various departments in the store during his time there. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Oil City and belonged to the American Legion Post #32 and P.N.A. Club in Oil City. He also enjoyed going to the YMCA, golfing, bowling, swimming, traveling, dancing, hunting and was a Pittsburgh Steeler fan. He always had time to spend with his family and friends. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Andrea Cropcho and husband, Steve, of Perrysburg, Ohio; a son, Frank Futyma and wife, Liza, of Columbus, Ga.; three grandchildren, James, Scott and Michael Cropcho of Perrysburg, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Gerald Mullen of Valinda, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Cecelia Futyma, Sister Angelene S.H.S., Mary Mullen and Barbara Futyma and a brother, Joseph Futyma. At the request of Mr. Futyma, there will be no visitation. Friends will be recieved by the family from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church in Oil City prior to the Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.. Haylett, 91, of Meadville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at Meadville Medical Center. Born July 3, 1917, in Meadville, she was the daughter of Elsie D. Fiscus and Fred G. King. Mrs. Haylett was married Jan. 26, 1940, to Robert B. Haylett, who preceded her in death. She was a lifetime member of St. Brigid Church, where she was baptized in July 1917. A 1937 graduate of Meadville High School, she worked as the head clerk for Loblaws, then worked at Ballinger Drug Store and Jack's Drug Store and was a bookkeeper at the Crawford Store. Mrs. Haylett was a member of more than 55 clubs and enjoyed bowling and swimming. She was the last living member of her family. Survivors include two sons, R. James Haylett and his wife, Judith, of Conneaut Lake, Daniel Joseph Haylett, of Meadville; and a daughter, Christine McNany, and her husband, D. Michael, of Franklin. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Cindy Bookamer, of Franklin, Steve Haylett and his wife, Heather, of Conneaut Lake, Kevin Haylett and his wife, Renee, of Conneautville, Wendy Rolnik and her husband David, of Cleveland, Heather McGowen and David Campbell, of Eau Claire, and Sarah Morrow and her husband, Curtis, of Franklin; six great-grandchildren, Samantha Bookamer, Branden Haylett, Ashley Haylett, Benjamin Haylett, Lauren Haylett and Noah Morrow; and several loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded her in death by four brothers, Joseph King, Loyal King, Richard King and Robert King; two sisters, Mary Hubbard and her husband, Harold, and Donna Chapin and her husband, Robert; a daughter, Elsie Haylett Monnin; and a sister-in-law, Louise Bedick. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Roofner-Collins Funeral Home, 544 Chestnut St. in Meadville. A vigil service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Friday. "Mike" Mong, 87, of Titusville, died at 3:15 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at the Golden LivingCenter in Titusville. Born April 27, 1921, she was a daughter of Edgar L. and Frances Tourtellott McPherson. She was a graduate of Franklin High School. For over thirty years she was employed in the payroll department of Joy Mining Machinery, until she retired in 1983. After her retirement, she moved from Franklin to Florida where she lived for 16 years before returning to Titusville. While in Franklin, Mong was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was also an avid and accomplished golfer, taking instruction at an early age. She was the only female member of the Franklin High School golf team. Surviving is a daughter, Patricia Knupp of Titusville; three grandchildren, Gregory A. Knupp and wife, Christine, of Pleasantville, James B. Knupp and wife, Melinda, of Seattle, Wash. and Deanna M. Heath and husband, David, of Guys Mills. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren, Rachel Knupp and Stephen Vogus, both of Pleasantville, Allison Lingo of Germany and Cherry Mae Montreuil, Chrismelin Montreuil and Andreo Montreuil, all of Seattle, Wash.; three great-great-grandchildren, Lucas, Samuel and Max Lingo of Germany; two sisters, Joan Beggs of Franklin and Rose Chalot and husband, William, of Anderson, S. C.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Darrall E. Mong; a brother, Edgar T. McPherson; and three sisters, Rachel McPherson, Catherine McPherson and Florence Graham. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin. Prichard, 86, of 1110 Beighlea Ave., Franklin, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at the Caring Place in Franklin. Born Aug. 14, 1922, she was daughter of Pearl Matthews and Samuel Smith. She was married Sept. 5, 1942, to Francis A. Prichard, who survives. Mrs. Prichard was a homemaker. She was a member of the Uniontown Heights Sunday School, the Ladies Aid Society and the Uniontown Social Club and enjoyed bowling. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Prichard is survived by three children, James Prichard and his wife, Karen, of Franklin, Debra Haylett and her husband, Neil, of Franklin, and John Prichard and his wife, Jennifer, of West Springfield. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Todd Robson, of Erie, Lorrie Collins, of Erie, James M. Prichard Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Cleveland, Benjamin Prichard, of West Springfield, Ellie Prichard, of West Springfield, Ryan Haylett, of Franklin, and Brent Haylett of Franklin; and three great-grandchildren, Jamie Collins, of Erie, Sarah Prichard, of Cleveland, and Colin Prichard, of Cleveland. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Prichard was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil E. Smith Sr., and Dale Smith; a daughter, Sandy Robson; and a granddaughter, Stacy Prichard. Gloria R. Shick, 79, of Mayport passed away Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, in DuBois Regional Medical Center. Born Oct. 19, 1929, in Hawthorn, she was the daughter of Ralph L. and Olive P. McAninch Kennemuth. She was married Oct. 19, 1948, to the Rev. William E. Shick, who preceded her in death on June 2, 1983. Along with being a pastor's wife, Mrs. Shick was also a housewife and mother. She was an active member of Summerville United Methodist Church. Mrs. Shick is survived by her two sons, Tim Shick and his wife, Sandi, of Clermont, Fla., and Mark Shick of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a sister, Judy Gray and her husband, Cal, of Brookville; and two brothers, Robert Kennemuth and his wife, Carol, of Mayport and John Kennemuth and his wife, Dolly, of Brookville. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Shick was preceded in death by a son, Jim Shick; a sister, Pat Drayer; and two brothers, Ralph "Sonny" Kennemuth and Darl Kennemuth. A private gathering for immediate and extended family members will be held at 4 p.m. today in the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. A celebration of life service open to all friends and family will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Summerville United Methodist Church with Pastor William Saxman officiating. Smith, 25, of College Street, Emlenton, passed away at 12:20 a.m. Thursday Jan 1, 2009, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca, following an extended illness of 18 months. Born July 25, 1983, in DuBois, Clearfield County, he was a son of Allen T. and Nancy A. Trimble Smith. He was a 2002 graduate of Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District in Foxburg. Mr. Smith was a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and was sent to Paris Island, Beaufort, S.C. for boot camp. He was then deployed to Iraq for a tour of duty and following his return, was stationed at Camp LeJuene-Jacksonville, N.C., until his honorable discharge. He was employed at Courson Racing Engines in Emlenton. Mr. Smith was affiliated with Scrubgrass Presbyterian Church in Scrubgrass Township, Venango County. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and his Black Lab, "Hank." He also enjoyed eating wings from Quaker Steak & Lube and especially all his family. In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Michael "Wendy L." Stohon of Price, Utah, Mrs. Terry "Judy A." Pierce of Rossiter and Mrs. Walley "Barbara A." McCall of Grove City. He is also survived by a brother, Allen Smith Jr. and wife, Paula, of Saegertown; his paternal grandmother, Marguerite Smith of Glenn Campbell; maternal grandparents, Norman and Norma Trimble of Glenn Campbell; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles and aunts. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville. Weaver Sr., 97, of Ninevah, Clarion County, died at 4:34 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at the Golden LivingCenter near Shippenville. Born Jan. 3, 1911, in Forest County, he was a son of the late David and Laura Knight Weaver. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family He was married April 22, 1932, to his next door sweetheart, Harriet Gardner, who preceded him in death on June 12, 2006, after 74 years of marriage.. Mr. Weaver began his working career as a carpenter and with his crew built homes throughout the Knox, Clarion and Oil City area. Later, he was hired to renovate the old CCC camp in Marienville into the Blue Jay Job Corps training facility, afterwards remaining to teach carpentry. When Blue Jay closed, he set up the countertop shop for Source Incorporated in Shippenville and served as foreman until his retirement. After retiring, he continued to farm and later became involved with drilling for Natural Gas. Mr. Weaver was a member of the Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church at the Crossroads near Knox, where he held numerous offices over the years and was a church delegate to conference several times. Mr. Weaver was a member of the Salem School Board and later the Keystone School board. He was also a member of the Edenburg lodge #550 F. and A.M. and the Coudersport Consistory. He enjoyed traveling with his late wife, having visited all the contiguous states, as well as Europe, Asia and Africa. He loved and enjoyed his family and his church, having often repeated, " We are so glad God is with us. He has been so good to us and our family, and whatever he has in store for us, we know it is as God has planned." He is survived by three sons, Richard Lee "Dick" Weaver and wife, Judy, of Mars, David William "Bill" Weaver and wife, Berta, of Monroe and John "Jack" Weaver Jr. and wife, Muriel, of RD Knox; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Dilts, Sarah Neal and Leotta Blouse; a brother, Lyle Weaver; and a grandson, Peter Weaver. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the David C. McEntire Funeral Home Inc., 504 East Penn St., Knox and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church in Knox.
