Surrena, formerly of Scrubgrass Road, Grove City Alicia Petersen Alicia Petersen, 81, of 4304 Gilson Ridge Road, Titusville, died at 6:05 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, in the Golden Living Center, Titusville. Born Sept. 27, 1926, in Primrose, she was the daughter of Orville and Marion Crossman McMillen. Mrs. Petersen worked as a security guard for Joy Manufacturing. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing and arts and crafts. Surviving is a sister, Delarena Wentling of Waco, Texas. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Petersen was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Orville and Donald McMillen; and two sisters, Dorothy Stover and Pearl Robinson. There will be no visitation and no services. The Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home of Franklin is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be sent online at www.gardinierfuneralhome.com. Mildred C. Surrena Mildred C. Surrena, 98, formerly of Scrubgrass Road, Grove City, died at 10:12 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, in Orchard Manor, Grove City, where she had been a resident since December 2007. Death followed a two-month illness. Born Aug. 16, 1909, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of George W. and Ella S. Hoelzmann Bauer. Mrs. Surrena was married April 9, 1930, to Clair C. Surrena, who preceded her in death May 19, 1981. She had worked as a bookkeeper for Clair C. Surrena Trucking Co. She previously worked as a teller at Mellon Bank in Harrisville. Mrs. Surrena was a member of Peters Chapel United Methodist Church in Irwin Township, Venango County, where she played the piano and organ for more than 50 years. She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, needlework, gardening and traveling. Most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Surrena often remarked that she had a blessed and wonderful life. Surviving are three daughters, Marie Wilson and husband, John E., of Grove City and Bradenton, Fla.., Joan Hullihen and husband, Harold, of Hubbard, Ohio, and Shirley Eardley and husband, Richard, of New Castle; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She also is survived by one brother, William H. Bauer of Harrisville. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Surrena was preceded in death by one sister, Anna E. Bauer, in 1994. Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and from noon to the time of services at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Cunningham Funeral Home Inc., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Sung Shik Chung, pastor of Peters Chapel United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Peters Chapel Cemetery.
