Buckley, 91, of 1156 Jackson Center-Polk Road, Stoneboro, (Worth Township), died at 10:50 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at home after an extended illness. Born July 23, 1916, in Raymilton, she was a daughter of Prentice Herman and Nannie Gertrude Dobbs Jewell. She attended Sandy Lake High School in Sandy Lake. In her earlier years, she worked at Polk State School and Hospital in dietary as a cook. Before it closed, she was an active member of the Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church of Polk, where she was a Sunday school teacher and treasurer and served as an elder and trustee. She then became a member of the North Sandy Presbyterian Church and also had attended the Sandy Lake Wesleyan Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, fishing and frequenting yard sales. She spent time feeding the birds and making crafts. She was married June 12, 1948, to Wayne R. Buckley Sr., who preceded her in death Feb. 8, 1988. Surviving are a son, Wayne R. Buckley Jr. and his wife, Bernetta, of Stoneboro, with whom she made her home; two grandchildren, Becky Buckley of Stoneboro and Christopher L. Buckley and his wife, Melinda, of Grove City; and two great-grandchildren, Kyle A. Buckley and Christopher L. Buckley Jr. Survivors also include a sister, Virginia Adams of Polk. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Elsie Krizon; and a brother, Cordell Jewell. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Scott A. Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Terry L. Greenlee, pastor of the Jackson Center Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Mineral Township, Venango County. Shirley A. Fadden Shirley A. Fadden, 85, of 855 W. Spring St., Titusville, sister of Robert Rehberg of Seneca, died at 3:05 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at her residence. Kathryn A. "Kathy" Hagan, 49, of Parker, died at 10:30 a.m. Friday morning, Jan. 4, 2008, at Montefiore Hospital (Specialty Care) in Pittsburgh, following an extended illness. Born Jan. 22, 1958, in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late Kimberly R. and Elsie E. Moyer Michael, who both preceded her in death in October 1992. She was a 1975 graduate of Allegheny-Clarion Valley School at Foxburg, and trained as a radiology technician at Franklin Hospital following graduation. Mrs. Hagan was employed for more than twenty years at Boyers, first at the Office of Personnel Management, later at USIS, and then again in the Office of Personnel Management, where she was employed at the time of her passing. She was a member of Parker United Methodist Church, worked on many activities there, and was also a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 7073 of Parker, and had been a longtime member of the former Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 598, also of Parker. Mrs. Hagan was a member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Parker City Volunteer Fire Department, member and past treasurer of the Recreation Association of Parker, past treasurer of Clearfield Recreation of Parker, and was a quite active member and past treasurer of the Allegheny-Clarion Valley School Music Boosters. She was married Nov. 23, 1977, to Jeffrey N. "Jeff" Hagan, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Raelene Elizabeth Hagan-Bowan and husband, Rodney, of Akron, Ohio, and Emily Ann Hagan and companion, Jason Custer, of Rimersburg; and one granddaughter, Kendra Elizabeth Bowan of Akron, Ohio. Survivors also include her parents-in-law, Alby and Pat Hagan of Parker; two sisters, Kimberly Rae Murphy and husband, Steve, of Butler, and Elizabeth Marie Weiler and husband, Chuck, of Jensen, Mich.; one brother, Lawrence (Larry) Michael and wife, Robin, of St. Petersburg,; and a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service by the Parker City VFD and Auxiliary will be held at 6:30 p.m. today in the funeral home, followed by a memorial service by the VFW 7073 Auxiliary at 6:45 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Parker United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Hughes, associate pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Allegheny Cemetery, near Parker. The family suggests memorials be made to the church roof fund of the Parker United Methodist Church, Parker, 16049 Mary Belle Long, 81, of 2194 Madison Road, P.O. Box 59, Distant, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at Jefferson Manor in Brookville. Born Aug. 28, 1926, in Kellersburg, she was a daughter of Herman Rhodes and MerCelia Truitt Rhodes. She was the owner of Springside Restaurant. She also was a waitress at Chide's Restaurant and baked pies for Evermore's Restaurant. She was a member of the New Bethlehem American Legion auxiliary, the Ladies Association Bowling league and the Couples Bowling League. She was married June 20, 1946, to Gilbert W. Long, who preceded her in death Aug. 25, 1989. Surviving are a son and his wife, Gordon and Judy Long of Mount Pleasant, Mich.; four sisters, June Young and her husband, Bernard, of Distant, Nancy Toy and her husband, Donald, of Templeton, Kay Long of New Bethlehem and Marion Peterson and her husband, Ted, of Taylor, Mich; and a brother and his wife, Carl and Rachel Rhodes of Wilmore, Ky. Survivors also include six grandchildren, Kenny Smail, Kevin Smail, Keli Brown, Kristen Smail, Tamera Numinen and Chad Long; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Smail; a brother, Harold Rhodes; and two sisters, Dorothy Szymecki and Margaret Rhodes (as an infant). Dorothy Louise McKissick, 80, of Scotch Hill Drive, Leeper, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at the Clarion Hospital. Born Oct. 30, 1927, in Fisher, she was the daughter of the Late Cecil Graybill and Thena Cook Graybill. She was married April 21, 1946, in Erie, to James Ray McKissick, who preceded her in death Aug. 9, 2001. She was a homemaker who lovingly devoted her life to her family. She liked sitting on her back porch enjoying the day and watching the birds, was an avid book reader and played cards for fun. Surviving are four daughters, Diana Lewis and her husband, Web, of Knox, Deb McKissick of Scotch Hill, Jean and husband, Pete Knight, of Wentlings Corners and Trish McKissick of Oil City; and a son, Dennis McKissick and wife, Sheila, of Callensburg. Survivors also include two sisters, Donna Kay and husband, John Rifenberrick-Fisher, and Peggy Seigworth of Orlando, Fla.; a brother, Ken Graybill and wife, Harlean, of Fisher; and three grandchildren, Traci McKissick, a police officer of Baltimore, Md., Cory and Cody McKissick of Callensburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Smith, and a brother-in-law, Clair Smith. Benton Thomas Nulph, 87, of 409 Scotch Hill Drive, Leeper, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at Jefferson Manor in Brookville, where he had resided for two days. Born Nov. 22, 1920, at Scotch Hill, he was the oldest son of the late Harry and Clara (Simpson) Nulph. Mr. Nulph graduated in 1939 from the Farmington Township High School in Leeper. He then attended Clarion State Teachers College, graduating in 1948. He taught school for 30 years, retiring in 1977 from the North Clarion School District. Mr. Nulph was a charter member of the Clarion County Historical Society. He was a lifetime member of the Scotch Hill United Methodist Church, was a Sunday school teacher for years and was church organist for 65 years. He is survived by a sister, Margaret Carll and her husband, Albert, of Oswayo; a brother, Harry Nulph of Scotch Hill; and four nieces and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his father on Oct. 24, 1982; his mother on Sept. 23, 1984; a brother, Leigh Nulph, on Feb. 9, 1984; a sister, Dorothy Urmson on Oct. 8, 2007; and a niece. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Goble Funeral Home & Crematory, 330 Wood St., Clarion. Ossoff, 94, a former Oil City businessman, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, at the Holy Spirit Medical Center in Camp Hill. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Reinsel Funeral Home, and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church. Schleifer, 84, formerly of Route 965, Polk, died at 6:10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at The Caring Place in Franklin, following an extended illness. Born Aug. 24, 1923, in North Braddock, he was a son of George A. and Sarah M. Griffith Schleifer. He was a 1941 graduate of North Braddock High School. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Mr. Schleifer retired from Polk Center as a supervisor in 1985 after 32 years of service. In his early years, he worked at the Ideal Bakery Co. of Pittsburgh. He was a member of the St. Columbkille Roman Catholic Church of Stoneboro. He was a life member of the Assembly No. 0965 and the Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1020, Our Mother of Perpetual help, Franklin. He had been a member of the Franklin Lions Club. He enjoyed going dancing, camping, fishing and traveling. He was married Oct. 6, 1949, to Irma E. Dunlap, who preceded him in death in November 1960. He was married May 1, 1965, to Martha "Jessie" Beard Smith, who preceded him in death July 15, 1998. He is survived by two daughters, Sister Mary Madalyn T. Schleifer of Pittsburgh and Mrs. Bruce (Paula J.) Potter of Grove City; three step-daughters, Mrs. Richard (Nancy Jo) Klingensmith of Slippery Rock, Betty A. Smith of Slippery Rock and Molly A. Coursen of Harrisville; and four sons, Christopher G. Schleifer and his wife, Kathy, of Fairfield, Ohio, John A. Schleifer of Stoneboro, Robert M. Schleifer and his wife, Darlene, of Polk, and Michael E. Schleifer and his wife, Faith, of Franklin. Survivors also include 10 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his two wives, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Marie Schleifer; a step-son, Linn Smith; a sister, Hannah Martin; and two brothers, George and Charles Schleifer. There will be no calling hours and the family will have a private Mass at a later date. Theron Oscar 'Jack' Shumaker Theron Oscar "Jack" Shumaker, 81, of Airport Road, Clarion, died at 1:50 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at Clarion Hospital. Born May 22, 1926, he was a son of Joseph T. and Myrna Nulph Shumaker. He was raised by his maternal grandparents, Oscar William and Mary Miller Nulph. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. He was company operations manager for Sun Oil (Sunoco), retiring in 1982. He was also a tax assessor for Farmington Township for several years. He attended the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Clarion. He was a life member of the NRA and was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. He was married April 25, 1966, to Elizabeth Smith, who survives. Survivors also include seven children, Lisa Rosher and her husband, Kevin, of Clarion, Jacqueline Griebel and her husband, John, of Shippenville, Susie Shumaker of Arizona and Judith Grimes, Janice Eellis, Cheri Jackson and Theron James Shumaker, all of Mississippi; four grandchildren, Kevin, Shawn and Jessica Rosher of Clarion and John K.J. Griebel of Shippenville; and his beloved dog, Howard. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home of Clarion. Private funeral services for the family will be held Wednesday with the Rev. James G. Faluszczak, campus minister at Clarion University, officiating. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Donald Reed and Paul Raymond Reed.
