McCormick, 84, the last Civil War veteran of Captain Core post, G. A. R., and the last war veteran of Limestone township, Clarion county, is dead. He was a member of Company K, One Hundred and Eighty-fourth regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers. He was taken prisoner at Reams Station, W. Va., on August 25, 1864, and was confined at Bill Island prison and at Andersonville. He was exchanged after several months' confinement and rejoined his company. He was among the first soldiers of the war to use breach loading rifles, as his company was selected by General Hancock to try out the new arms. Mr. McCormick is survived by two children, Guy McCormick of Altoona and Mrs. D. M. Miller of Kingsville.
