"Ed" Whitman Sr., 2667 Lamberton Road, Franklin Eleanor T. Ginnery, 82, formerly of Reno and Oil City, a resident of the Oil City Presbyterian Home, went to be with the Lord at 4:10 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. Born Feb. 11, 1927, in Hamtramck Mich., she was a daughter of the late Teofil and Josephine Garfinski Jasielski. Mrs. Ginnery attended St Stephen Church and enjoyed playing bingo. She was married on Feb. 11, 1947, to Clarence E. Ginnery, who preceded her in death Feb. 26, 2001. Surviving are three sons, Anthony Ginnery and wife, Martie, of Rouseville, Samual Ginnery of Reno and Clarence Ginnery of Illinois; five grandchildren, Tracii Westlake of Oil City, Tony (Butch) Ginnery of Tionesta, April Spencer of Oil City, and Shannon Ginnery and Caitlin Ginnery, both of Illinois. Survivors also include 13 great-grandchildren, Tamra Hosseini of Franklin, Shelbi Westlake, Dakotah Westlake, Midajah Spencer, Diamond Spencer, Terry Spencer and Vontavious Spencer all of Oil City, Tyler Clark, Hilary Clark, Jasmine Ginnery, and Destiny Ginnery all of Tionesta, and Cassius Foley and Cameron Ginnery, both of Illinois; one great-great-granddaughter, Delilah Grace Hosseini of Franklin; and one brother, Theodore Jasielski. In addition to her parents and husband, she as preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tammie Jo Ginnery; one sister, Sallie Valeski; and five step brothers and sisters, John Krawczyk, Lois Krawczyk, Celia Krawczyk Zielecki, Sophie Boyd and Jane Martyna. There will be no visitation and services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. The Morrison Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Latchaw, 70, of 157 Park Ave., Franklin, died at 11:35 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh. The Gardinier Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published Tuesday in The News-Herald. Bernice A. McFetridge, 92, of 722 Mercer Road, Franklin died at 6:35 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2009, at Sugar Creek Station. Born July 25, 1916, in Pierpont, Ohio, she was a daughter of Glenn Leroy and Elsie Moore Adams. She was a graduate of Franklin High School. Mrs. McFetridge was employed as a licensed practical nurse at Polk Center for many years, retiring from there. She was a member of the Polk United Methodist Church. She had been a member of the Franklin Women's Club and enjoyed quilting. She was married on April 6, 1934, to Russell L. McFetridge, who preceded her in death July 7, 1991. Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Zilhaver of Polk and Donna Miller of Troy, Mo.; and seven grandchildren, Sandi Showers and her husband, Paul, of Franklin, Cheryl Englert and her husband, Glenn, and Cindi Wikinson and her husband, Steve, all of Polk, Lynda Holland of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Karen Moore and her husband, Brian, of Markham, Va.,and Laura Schneier and her husband, Dennis, and Stephen Butters, all of St. Peter's, Mo. Survivors also include 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jack Miller;a great-grandson, Kris Showers; a brother, Marlowe Adams; and her granddaughter's husband, Ed Holland. Levi Shawn Mohney, 24, of New Bethlehem, died unexpectedly Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born Oct. 27, 1984, in Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, Kittanning, he was a son of Mary Beth Jones Davidson and William Shawn Mohney. He was a 2003 graduate of Keystone High School, where he played football and wrestled. He was the first District 9 wresting champion for Keystone High School. He attended the Oakland Church of God in Distant. Levi was a carpenter and had worked for New Era and Structural Modulars. He is survived by his parents, Mary Beth Davidson and her husband, Charlie, of Natural Bridge, Va., and William Shawn Mohney and his wife, Cindy, of New Bethlehem; two brothers, Korban, serving with the National Guard in Iraq, and Colten of New Bethlehem; a sister, Brittani of Knox; a step-brother, Zach. Survivors also include maternal grandmother, Polly Jones of New Bethlehem; maternal great-grandmother, Mary Ann Wright of Kittanning; paternal grandparents, Jerry and Joanne Mohney of New Bethlehem; paternal great-grandfather, Ralph Davis of New Bethlehem; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and his special friend, Buddy. Muse Sr., 83, of 1466 Route 322, Utica, died at 12:09 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2009, at Meadville Medical Center. Born Sept. 14, 1925, in Franklin, he was a son of Frederick and Vinnie Heffern Muse. Mr. Muse worked as a security guard for Point Security at Meadville Medical Center. Prior to that he was an expediter for Joy Manufacturing. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era and retired from the Criminal Investigative Division (CID). He was a member of the Conneaut Valley Church of the Nazarene. He was also a member of the Cochranton American Legion. Mr. Muse enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. He was married on July 9, 1952, to the former Martha F. Musselwhite, who survives. Survivors also include three children, William F. Muse Jr. and wife, Maryellen, James D. Muse and wife, Cheryl, and Dixie Kristoff and husband, Willard, all of Meadville; and five grandchildren, William F. Muse III and wife, Debbie, of Titusville, Sarah M. Lind and husband, Dusty, of Franklin, and Heather L. Burkhardt, Greg A. Muse and Michael L. Kristoff, all of Meadville; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Tyler Muse. Kathryn Oaks of Corsica died Friday, March 20, 2009, at Brookside Assisted Living. She was the daughter of James B. and Margaret Glenn Ross. She was a graduate of Union Vocational School in Corsica. Mrs. Oaks was a homemaker. She was an active member of the Pisgah Presbyterian Church in Corsica for more than 50 years. She was past moderator of the Pisgah Women's Association, was a member of the Pisgah church choir for many years, was a longtime member of the American Bible Study and was a life member of the Women's General Missionary Society of North America. She was married June 27, 1940, in Clover Township, Jefferson County, to Arthur E. "Lefty" Oaks, who preceded her in death June 22, 1983. Surviving are a niece, Mrs. John (Carol) Russell of Youngstown, Ohio; and three nephews, W. Glenn Fuller of Youngstown, F. Dale Fuller of Girard, Ohio, and David L. Dickey of New Springfield, Ohio. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth A. Fuller and Mildred J. Dickey; a niece, Elizabeth Ann Taub; a nephew, James C. Fuller; and a great-niece, Melody Russell. Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. today at the McKinney Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville. Reid Douglas Perrett Sr., 84, of 17659 Bugtown Road, Titusville, died at 6:17 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, at UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born on Aug. 18, 1924, in Oil City, he was a son of the late John Henry and Katherine Douglas Perrett. He attended Cranberry High School. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Perrett served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. During that time he fought in battles and campaigns in the Pacific Theatre and was awarded three Bronze Stars. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal. He was employed by GTE in the voice communications department for 43 years. He retired in 1989. Mr. Perrett belonged to IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) and served as a union steward. He was also a member of Telephone Pioneers, past president of the Titusville Aero Club, Democratic committee man for Oil Creek Township, Venango County, and was a lifetime member of the Bruce Shorts VFW Post 5958. He loved spending time with his family, and was a pilot since 1989. He was also an avid fly fisherman, enjoyed reading and traveling and shared his wife Bobbie's interest in genealogy. He will be missed by his animal friends. Mr. Perrett is survived by his wife Barbara "Bobbie" Watters Perrett, whom he married on Oct. 3, 1986, in Pittsburgh; four children, Douglas Perrett and wife, Linda, of Columbus, Ohio, Stanley Perrett and wife, Linda, of Saegertown, Steven Perrett and companion, Barb Sterner, of Polk, and Sharon Perrett Rogers of Savannah, Ga. Survivors also include a daughter-in-law, Lavonne Pompilio and husband, Phil, of Pleasantville; three grandsons, Lonnie Perrett of Titusville, Barry Perrett and wife, Kelly, of Saegertown, and Jody Perrett and wife, Naseem, of Mine Hill, N.J.; five great-grandchildren, Jacob Perrett, Tyra McGarvie, Rayden Perrett, Magda Perrett, Suraiya Perrett; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Irwin Perrett, who was the mother of their five children; his second wife, Margie Hill Perrett; one son, Larry Perrett; four brothers, Homer, Clifford, Richard and Eugene Perrett; and three sisters, Dorothy Donahue, Opal Thomas and Beulah Masters. Aldo T. "Pete" Pietropoli, 88, of Highland Oaks, Shippenville, formerly of Tippecanoe Road, Knox, continued his journey to his heavenly Father, departing this life at 1:10 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, after a short illness. Born Aug. 22, 1920, in Naples, Italy, he was the son of the late Gaetano and Elena Goridano Pietropoli. He came to America with his family on May 9, 1921, at the age of 8 months. He was raised in Philadelphia, where he attended industrial school. A veteran of World War II, he serve in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He owned a successful businesses for 25 years in Trevose prior to moving to the Knox area in 1974. He retired from the Keystone School District in 1985 and continued working at Knox Auto Supply until 2005. He attended the United Church of God in Meadville for many years. He was married on June 25, 1983, to Doris Best Cope, who survives. Also surviving are four children, Mary Simmons of Shippenville, Cathy Stansfield of Sunbury, Richard Pietropoli and his wife, Doreen, of Levittown, and Sandra Cammack and her husband, Kent, of Dacula, Ga. Survivors also include Doris's children, who were a big part of his life, Vivian Irwin and her husband, Bill, of Knox, Valerie Morrison of Grove City, Jay Cope of Illinois, Kay Biddle and her husband, Wesley, of Elwood City, and Ray Cope and his wife, Lora, of Coudersport. Additional survivors include many grandchildren; a brother, Oswald Pietropoli of Homestead, Fla.; and two sisters, Hilda Applebaum of Philadelphia and Dina Pietropoli of New York City. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Lenore, on March 8, 1981. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the David C. Seely, 84, of Wesbury Nursing Home, 31 Park Ave., Meadville, died at 2:45 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, at Wesbury Nursing Home. Born Nov. 18, 1924, in Meadville, she was a daughter of Leon and Hazel Thompson Cotterman. Mrs. Seely worked as a meat wrapper for Quaker Food Market and as a cafeteria worker for the Valley Grove School District. She was a member of the Canal Wesleyan Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting. Mrs. Seely was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved children and taught Sunday school for more than 30 years. She was married Aug. 7, 1943, to Daniel E. (Jay) Seely Jr., who preceded her in death. Surviving are three children, Daniel Wayne Seely and wife, Janice, of Meadville, Shirley Jean Richards and husband, Edward, of Franklin, and Diane Elaine Seely of Salem, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Julie Dombroski and husband, John, of Pittsburgh, Randall Richards and wife, Laura, of New Castle, Jason Daniel Seely and wife, Cherilyn, of Meadville, and Kurtis Bradley Seely, of Meadville. Survivors also include four great-grandchildren, Tyler Andrew Richards of Franklin, Austin Bradley Seely of Meadville, Kristen Nicole Seely of Meadville, and Logan Drew Seely of Meadville; and two sisters and their husbands, Martha and Elliott Pritts of Hillsboro, W.Va., and Mary Lou and Robert Nageotte of Saegertown. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Merle Cotterman; and a sister, Shirley Phelps. "Ed" Whitman Sr., 73, of 2667 Lamberton Road, Franklin, died at 4:40 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, shortly after his arrival in the emergency department of UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Mr. Whitman was stricken earlier in his home with an apparent massive heart attack. Born Aug. 20, 1935, in Franklin, he was the beloved son of the late Harry and Sophia M. (Eckel) Whitman. He attended Franklin area schools and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was stationed at Fort Knox, Ky., and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal following his honorable discharge from the service. He was employed as a machinist for the Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co. in Franklin until it closed. He also worked for Lepley's Bus Service and Dunlap's Lawn and Garden Co., doing small engine repair when he could. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends and especially enjoyed sharing time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed making the best of every day by woodworking, building items for his family and friends and rebuilding anything with a motor. He had fun riding his four-wheeler, gardening, walking quietly in the woods enjoying nature, hunting with his family and friends, and sharing time with his beloved dog, Taco. He was married Sept. 15, 1959, to the former Carol J. Clark, who survives. Survivors also include four children, Floyd E. Whitman Jr. and his wife, Pam, Beverly D. Whitman, Tim E. Whitman and Barbara D. Whitman, all of Franklin; and five grandchildren, Jessica N. Whitman, Justin P. Rice and his fiancee, Amber Reed, Jasmine E. Whitman, Mikal E. Whitman and July M. Whitman, all of Franklin. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren, Brylee Hope Goodman, Trenton J. Rice, Noah Lee Steetle and Shane Hetes; two sisters, Mary Slocum of Franklin and Marcia Grove and her husband, Chuck, of Dayton, Ohio; and two brothers, H. "Abe" Whitman of Cochranton and John Whitman of Franklin. He is also survived by the members of the Clark family and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Julia M. Whitman; and a brother, Kenneth Whitman. At Mr. Whitman's request, there will be no public visitation. A private memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
