The Derrick, March 25, 2009: Janice M. Agostinelli, Liberty Street, Clarion Jean A. Jordan, Mars, formerly of Parker Etta Ruth Minick, 210 Baker St., Rimersburg Kenneth Lee Thompson, Knox Janice M. Agostinelli, 85, of Liberty Street, Clarion, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at The Hospice House in Shippenville. Born March 18, 1924, in Hazel-Hurst, she was the daughter of Vitaliano and Rose Ross Lombardo Agostinelli. Ms. Agostinelli worked at the Owens Illinois glass plant for 40 years and retired as a foreman for the B shift. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion. Ms. Agostinelli was a member of the Quarter Century Club at Owens Illinois. She enjoyed crossword puzzle books, playing piano and watching cooking shows on television. Ms. Agostinelli is survived by two sisters, Alda Elslarger and her husband, John, of Rockfort, Texas, and Betty Hollingsworth of Lakeland, Fla.; and a special friend, Wanda Daugherty. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister and four brothers, Mark Lombardo, Mel Lombardo, Ben Agostinelli and Joe Agostinelli. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Monty Sayers, pastor of Immaculate Conception Church, officiating. Entombment will be in the Immaculate Conception mausoleum. Jordan, 83, of Mars, formerly of Parker, passed away early Tuesday morning March 24, 2009, at UPMC - Cranberry, Butler County, following an illness. Born Nov. 16, 1925, in Hammond, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Lucille Foster Hill. She was married to Samuel A. Jordan, who preceded her in death Dec. 21, 1990. Mrs. Jordan was a longtime member of the Parker United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the former Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 598 at Parker. Mrs. Jordan is survived by a daughter, Linda Jordan Platt and her husband, Gary, of Hampton Township; a son, Guy Jordan of Oil City; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, Wayne St., Parker. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Brady's Bend Cemetery near East Brady. Etta Ruth Minick, 84, of 210 Baker St., Rimersburg, passed away peacefully at 7:50 a.m. Tuesday March 24, 2009, at Allegheny General Hospital, following a short illness. Born Jan. 26, 1925, in Rimersburg, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Jennie Wilson Simpson. She was married March 12, 1948, to Paul L. Minick, who preceded her in death Jan. 14, 2003. Mrs. Minick graduated in 1943 from Union High School. She was a homemaker and also worked at the Rimersburg Elementary cafeteria, of the Union School District, for many years. She was a lifetime member of Rimersburg United Methodist Church, where she was very active in Golden Links Sunday school class. Mrs. Minick was a member of the UMC Red Hatters and enjoyed attending activities at the Rimersburg Senior Center until shortly before her death. She also enjoyed cooking, Bible study and spending time with her family. Mrs. Minick is survived by two sons, Daniel Paul Minick and his wife, Patty, of Rimersburg and Steven L. Minick and his wife, Keri, of Ashaway, R.I.; and a daughter, Kathy Lang and her husband, Raymond, of Bell Acres. She is survived by five grandchildren, Thomas Minick and his wife, Trista, of Sligo, Leighann Strauser and her husband, Rick, of Rimersburg, Erin Roberts and her husband, Jason, of Sewickly, Derek Lang of Beaver Falls and Jared Paul Minick of Ashaway, R.I.; and five great-grandchildren, Hobie Minick, Maggie Minick, Harleigh Strauser, Ava Strauser and Lily Roberts. Mrs. Minick was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Paul Simpson and Charles Simpson; and a sister Louise Stewart. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at Varner Funeral Home of Rimersburg. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Brock Beveridge, pastor at United Methodist Church in Rimersburg, officiating. Interment will follow in Rimersburg Cemetery. Kenneth Lee Thompson, 48, of Knox, died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday March 24, 2009, at Golden Living Center in Shippenville, following an illness. Born April 1, 1960, in Clarion, he was a son of D. Budd Thompson and Florence E. Monrean Thompson of Knox. Mr. Thompson was a corrections officer for the Venango County jail until his disability. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Knox, the Edenberg Masonic Lodge 550, former member of the NRA and Eagle Scouts and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had a love for cars and his motorcycle. In addition to his parents, he is survived by one son, Justin Thompson of Knox; a stepson, Bradon Walters of Knox; and a stepdaughter, Shannon Walters of New Hampshire He is also survived by a brother, Dale Thompson and his wife, Deb, of Emlenton; Two sisters, Kathy Kapp of Knox and Lisa Weeter and her husband, Tom, of Knox; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and an uncle, Junior Monrean. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc. in Knox. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Karen Parsh, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Paul Union Cemetery.
