Fisher, 91, of Jackson Road, Sigel, died Friday, March 13, 2009, at Clarion Hospital. Born Aug. 1, 1917, Elizabeth, he was a son of the late Christ Fisher and Dora Stragand Fisher. He was married May 21, 1943, in Elrama to the former Sylvia F. Openshaw, who preceded him in death. Mr. Fisher was a veteran of World War II. He was retired as a maintenance supervisor for U.S. Steel Coke Works in Clairton. Mr. Fisher was a member of the Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church in Sigel, where he was a past elder. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 983 of Brookville, American Legion Post 102 and the VFW, and he was an avid bowler. Mr Fisher is survived by a niece and nephew. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Cavalier; and one niece and one nephew. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the McKinney Funeral Home in Brookville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Cole Stewart Gifford, the 7-week-old infant son of Philip L. and Crystal K. Stewart Gifford of Switzer Road, Rimersburg, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, March 12, 2009, of natural causes. Born Jan. 23, 2009, in Butler Hospital, he is survived by his parents; a brother, Conner William Gifford, at home; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Marjorie Gifford of Venus; and several aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, William Gifford, in March 2002; his maternal grandfather, William Stewart, in November 1991; and his maternal grandmother, Barbara Switzer Stewart, in May 2007. Lemmon, 96, of Mount Pleasant, East Huntingdon Township, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2009, at his home and surrounded by his family. Born Nov. 25, 1912, in East Huntingdon Township, he was the son of Frank Andrew and Callie Amelda Porch Lemmon. Frank was a life member of the Reunion Presbyterian Church; a member the B.P.O.Elks of Mount Pleasant, where he was honored as the 2006 Elk of the Year; and an honorary life member of the East Huntingdon Township Volunteer Fire Department. He worked as a farmer, a juvenile probation officer, a tax collector, aide at the Torrence State Hospital, a Pennsylvania highway inspector, rural mail carrier and even taught agriculture at East Huntingdon High School for a semester. He was also active serving Meals on Wheels. He was the secretary/treasurer of the Middle Church Cemetery for 40 years and was instrumental in establishing the Middle Church Cemetery Mausoleum. Surviving are his children, Lois Ridley and husband, Bob, of State College, Frank T. Lemmon and wife, Rose, of Emlenton, and Nancy Diener and husband, Richard, of Brookville. Seven grandchildren also survive including Daniel and Robert Ridley, Sherri Shuster, Amy Tower and husband, Wesley, Elizabeth Search and husband, Philip, Heather Diener and Sarah Diener and fiancé', Joseph Murdy. Survivors also include six great-grandchildren, Zachery Lemmon, Kaitlyn and Seth Search, Edmund Shuster, Joseph Helferidge and Emma Ridley; and two sisters-in-law, Katheryn Lemmon of Scottdale and Jane Tweed of Indiana. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lemmon was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Geraldine Tweed Lemmon; two brothers, Donald and Paul Lemmon; a sister, Leona Pritts, a brother-in-law, William Pritts; and a sister-in-law, Bernice Lemmon The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Eugene G. Saloom Funeral Service, Richard Rega, funeral director, at 730 W. Main Street, Mount Pleasant. Taylor, 92, of Garner, Iowa, a native of Clarion County, died Sunday March 8, 2009, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa, Born April 29, 1916, on the family farm in Clarion County, she was the daughter of the David and Nellie Shoemaker Divins. She was married in 1940 to Clyde Greenly of Bloomsburg, who preceded her in death in 1957. She was married in 1966 to Paul Taylor of Tionesta, who preceded her in death in 2000. She graduated from Sligo High School in 1932 and continued her education at a business college in Pittsburgh. LaRue worked at Westinghouse of East Pittsburgh during World War II and at Clarion University for 21 years. After Paul passed away in 2000, she went to Iowa to live with her daughter, Rachel Beck Booth of Garner. While in Garner, Mrs. Taylor was an RSVP volunteer and the Governor's Correspondent for Hancock County, and she attended the Evangelical Free Church. She was a member of the Newmansville Free Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for 15 years. LaRue is survived by a daughter, Rachel Booth and her husband, Don, of Garner; four step-children, Nina Bowser and her husband, Richard, of Knox, Linda Dehner of Tionesta, Leslie Taylor of Tionesta, and Charles Taylor of Texas; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three nephews, Gary Divins of Pennsylvania, John Elder of Arizona and Eric Elder of Pennsylvania; and one beloved niece, Dr. Jeanne Elder Werner of Dallas, Texas. In addition to her parents and two husbands, Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by three brothers, Gerald Divins, James Divins and Brooks Divins; and three sisters, Bernice Fox, Grace Elder and Emogene Applegate.
