    3. The Derrick, April 20, 2009: Wilda Beary, Marble Helen E. Berry, formerly of Red Coach Manor, Oil City James H. "Jamie" Hurrelbrink, Knox Judy A. (Swartfager) Johnston, New Bethlehem Richard L. Kinch, Henry's Bend Genevieve Ann Motter, Fryburg June Perrine Reese, formerly of Glenshaw Wilda Beary, 94, of Marble, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009, at Golden Living Center of Clarion. Faller Funeral Home of Fryburg is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published at a later date in The Derrick. Helen E. Berry, 86, of Greenville, S.C., formerly of Red Coach Manor, Oil City, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 9, 2009. Born Feb. 18, 1923, in DuBois, she was the daughter of Clarence and Edna Say Embleton. She graduated in 1941 from Oil City High School. She retired as secretary for Henry Suhr in 2006 after 27 years of service. Prior to her employment with Mr. Suhr, she was employed for 18 years in the trust department at Northwest Bank in Oil City. Upon retiring in 2006, she moved from Red Coach Manor in Oil City to Rolling Green Village in Greenville, S.C. Helen enjoyed quilting, playing bridge, watching Pirates baseball, and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Oil City for nearly 40 years. She is survived by two daughters, Linda Hoover of New Wilmington and Brenda Scott of Greenville, S.C.; two brothers, Clarence and Everett Embleton; a sister, Dorothy Watts; a step-son, Peter Berry; five grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 19 years, Robert T. Hipwell; her second husband of 19 years, John F. Berry; two sons, Robert T. Hipwell Jr. and Richard Hipwell; a step-daughter, Joanne McClintock; and a step-granddaughter, Amy McClintock. A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday at the Grace United Methodist Church. Pleasantburg Drive, Suite 1A, Greenville, S.C., 29607. James H. "Jamie" Hurrelbrink, 77, of Knox, died at 6:40 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Clarion Hospital. Born Dec. 10, 1931, on the family farm near Knox, he was the son of the late Edward and Zena Hartzell Hurrelbrink. James was a farmer before he retired. He made his home with his sister, Edith Kagle, for the last three years. He enjoyed farming, cutting wood and his cats. Surviving are four sisters, Helen Bosley of Oil City, and Marie Bell, Martha Eisenman and Edith Kagle, all of Knox; three brothers, John Hurrelbrink of St. Petersburg and Harmin Hurrelbrink and Carl Hurrelbrink of Knox; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Walker; and two brothers, Arthur "Whiskers" Hurrelbrink and Charles S. Hurrelbrink. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the David C. McEntire Funeral Home, 504 E. Penn St., Knox. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Karen Parsh, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Paul Union Cemetery, Knox RD 1. The family suggests memorial donations be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1051 Twin Church Road, Knox, 16232. Judy A. (Swartfager) Johnston, 67, of New Bethlehem, died Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Clarion Hospital. Born Aug. 5, 1941, in Callwell, Armstrong County, she was a daughter of Donald Swartfager and Dorothy Shreckengost Swartfager. Mrs. Johnston was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting and baking, but her greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren. She was married Aug. 23, 1958, in Distant to William Johnston, who survives. Survivors also include a son and his wife, William A. and Mary K. Johnston of Putneyville; four daughters, Amy S. Johnston of New Bethlehem, and Cindy J. Johnston-Levan, Patricia G. Rearick and Victoria A. Johnston, all of Florida. Also surviving are two sisters, Ruth Snyder of South Bethlehem and Mary Rearick of New York; two brothers, Robert Swartfager and Donald Swartfager; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today at the Bish Memorial Funeral Home, 206 South St., New Bethlehem, with the Rev. Jimmy Swogger of the Oakland Church of God officiating. Kinch, 90, of Henry's Bend, died at 11:50 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2009, at Juniper Village in Meadville. Born Aug. 20, 1918, in Fertigs, he was the son of the late Amos and Etta Mae Stuck Kinch. Mr. Kinch attended the Oil City High School. He was a 50-year, 32nd degree member of the Masons, past-master of Fraternal Lodge 483, a member of Petrolia Lodge No. 363 of Oil City, a member of the Venango Lodge of Perfection, Coudersport Consistory, the Zem Zem Temple, and a former master of travel for the National Camper and Travel Association within the Masons. Mr. Kinch attended the President Chapel, where he served on the church board, and previously attended the Rouseville Methodist Church and also Henry's Bend Chapel. He enjoyed performing with the Zem Zem Clown Unit, was a stained-glass and etched-glass artist, and also enjoyed wood-working projects, and his artistry is evident in many homes and businesses throughout the area. Mr. Kinch was a former co-owner of the Main Street Restaurant in Oil City, and also worked as a truck driver for Penland Tankers, as a carpenter, and was a policeman for Rouseville Borough. He was married on Aug. 21, 1941, in Media, to the former Mary Kirkwood, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Michelle Talbott and husband, Jan, of both Cape Coral, Fla., and Henry's Bend; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Kinch of Franklin; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Kinch; and six brothers and six sisters. Mr. Kinch was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hile-Best Funeral Home, Tyler J. Best, Supervisor, 2781 Route 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Pat Ellis, pastor of Heckathorn United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment and committal services will follow in Rynd Farm Cemetery. A luncheon will be served at Henry's Bend Chapel immediately following the interment, and all friends and family are welcome to attend. On-line condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.hilebest.com Genevieve Ann Motter, 90, of Fryburg, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009, in the arms of her husband of 66 years, Carl W. Motter, at her daughter's home in Erie. She was better known to her loving family as Nanny, to her 29 nieces and nephews as Dede, and to her many friends and neighbors as Jenny. Born April 15, 1919, she was the daughter of Albert and Flora Eisenman. Her family will cherish warm memories of rides on the four-wheeler, spirited games of Euchre, and afternoons on the back porch and will fondly recall many fun-filled trips to Disney World in the Pace Arrow motor home and weekends spent at Aunt Madeline's cottage on the shores of Lake Erie. Nanny loved the holidays and made every effort to make them special for her family. She took great pride in decorating a perfect Christmas tree and coloring the perfect Easter egg. Her famous meatloaf, sweet potatoes, angel food cakes, and date-filled Christmas cookies will be sadly missed. She was an active member of St. Michael Church and Rosary Society. She was particularly proud of her house and spent countless hours maintaining a perfect home. She loved to weed, plant flowers, and get a suntan while mowing the lawn on her tractor. She was a gracious host to all friends and family who walked up the walk and through her doors. April 15, 2009, was her 90th birthday. She is survived by her husband, Carl W. Motter; a daughter, Connie Borland and husband, Ken, of Erie; a grandson, Mark Borland and wife, Carrie, of Erie; and a granddaughter, Tammy, of Walnut Creek, California. Nanny, described by her family as the perfect grandmother in every way, will be sadly missed by her two beloved grandchildren, who were the center of her world. She was the last member of the Albert and Flora Eisenman family of six and was preceded in death by her siblings, Chuck, Steve and Albert Eisenman, Madeline Wolfram and Marie Guth. Friends were received and a parish vigil service was held Sunday at Faller Funeral Home of Fryburg. Mass of a Christian burial will be conducted at 10a.m. today at St. Michael Church in Fryburg with the Rev. David Poulson Pastor presiding. Interment will follow in the St. Michael Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St Michael Church in Fryburg. June Perrine Reese, 85, formerly of Glenshaw, Allegheny County, died Friday, April 17, 2009. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward Albert Reese. Surviving are children Betty Ann (Ed) Kirkpatrick, Mary Jane (Donald) Crimbchin, Norma Jean (Charles) Kuehn and William A. Reese; nine grandchildren, Dennis and James Kaiser, Dawn Vaughn, Donald, Crystal, David and Pamela Crimbchin and Charles and Edward Kuehn; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anna Mae Schreffler. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Tuesday at the Neely Funeral Home, 2208 Mount Royal Blvd., Glenshaw. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
