Wetzel, Shippenville, formerly of Wentlings Corners Patricia Ann Bowser, 58, of Catalpa Road, Chicora, formerly of Dutch Hill and Sligo, passed away at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at her home. She had been ill since November 2008. Born Oct. 7, 1950, in Dutch Hill, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Claude "Dutch" Bowser and Velma Pearl Villers Bowser. Ms. Bowser was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church. She was a 1970 graduate of Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School. She enjoyed her spoon collection and was a Steelers and Pirates fan. Ms. Bowser enjoyed going on bus trips with the adventure club in Butler and was proud to be able to maintain her own home. She is survived by Terry K. and Rhonda R. Bowser of Chicora, where she made her home; Ryan K. Bowser of Butler, Trish R. Hurley and Corey T. of Chicora, a number of cousins and many friends. She is also survived by her American bulldog "Harley." Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home in Petrolia. (Osborne) Brazel, 92, of 1407 Franklin Road, Jackson Center, died at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2009, in Grove Manor Nursing Home of Grove City, after a short illness. Born Nov. 28, 1916, in Springville, Victory Township, Venango County, she was a daughter of the late Jason W. and Effie M. Huston Osborne. She graduated from Rocky Grove High School in 1936. During World War II she worked at Chicago Pneumatic Tool and at Vanderhoff Electric, both in Franklin. She was of the Protestant faith. Mrs. Brazel was a member of the Stitch and Chatter Club of the Jackson Center/Stoneboro area as part of the World Homemakers Organization for many years. She was also very active for many years with the Jackson Center Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. She loved traveling, playing cards and bingo. She was married Sept. 2, 1950, to William J. "Bill" Brazel, who survives at home. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Alice Allen, Mary Kimes, Edith McElhaney and Aura Stearns; two half-sisters, Daisy Vath and Della McCamey; and five brothers, Anson, Edward, Lewis, Norman and Glenn Osborne. Fridley, 77, formerly of 18 Wayne St. in Oil City, died at 8:25 a.m. Thursday, April 9, 2009, in the Presbyterian Home in Oil City, where he had resided for the past three years. Ida Belle Gallagher, 89, of Parker passed away early Thursday, April 9, 2009, at Laurelbrook of Brookville following an illness. Born Jan. 25, 1920, in Rimersburg, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Mina Flick Mitchell. She graduated from Rimersburg High School in 1937. She was married Dec. 24, 1937, in Rimersburg to Willard "Tim" Gallagher, who preceded her in death on March 1, 1974. Mrs. Gallagher was in the grocery store business, along with her husband, for most of her adult life. They operated Gallagher's Market in Dutch Hill for many years and, in 1957, built a modern grocery, restaurant and automobile repair service facility near Callensburg.. She formally retired from all retail services on March 30, 1985. Protestant by faith, she was an active member of the United Methodist Women in Callensburg for many years and was associated with the Park Hill Church of God at West Freedom at the time of her passing. Surviving are two sons, Gary (Doe) Gallagher of Callensburg and Dan Gallagher and his wife, Melissa, of Parker; a daughter-in-law, Judith (Judy) Gallagher of Parker; four grandchildren, Todd Gallagher of Richmond, Va.; Marni Dreher of Columbus, Michael Gallagher of Sligo and Sue Ann Smith of Pine City, near Knox; and seven great-grandchildren, Lexan and Landon DeLisio, Tim and Tara Gallagher, Laken Dreher, Anya and Ella Gallagher. Also surviving area brother, Lloyd Mitchell of Clarion , and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandaughter, Debbie DeLisio, on June 9, 1995; two sisters, Mildred Yates and Doris Fowler; and an infant brother, James Mitchell. Born Oct. 3, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Homer Jacob Anthony and Lucy Catherine Benn Anthony. She was married to Donald Harry Nelson, who preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 1976. Mrs. Nelson was of the Protestant faith and attended the Sligo Schools. She was a member of the VFW ladies auxiliary post 7132 of Rimersburg. Strickenberger, 80, of Erie, passed away Friday, April 3, 2009, in San Diego, Calif. Born April 22, 1928, in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late George T. and Rose Siegel Bernhardt. She was married to James J. Strickenberger who preceded her in death March 2, 2006. Mrs. Strickenberger was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and its Ladies Guild where she held various offices and served on numerous committees. She was an avid card player and belonged to the Mercy Center on Aging Card Club and St. Luke Funtastics. She also did volunteer work for Emmaus Soup Kitchen and served meals for the needy through St. Paul. Jean loved working in her yard, decorating her home, entertaining and she enjoyed traveling. She worked for the Bell Telephone Company, Rusterholtz Bakery in the Boston Store and retired from Sears. Ms. Strickenberger is survived by two sons, Randy Strickenberger and his wife, Cindy, of Erie and Tom Strickenberger and his wife, Jan, of Knoxville, Tenn.; two daughters, Dianne Beblo and her husband, Steve, of San Diego, Calif. and Nancy Ericsson and her husband, Robert, of Erie; a brother, George Bernhardt of Berlin, N.J.; a sister, Mrs. James Meyers and husband of Lorain, Ohio; and 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Born July 23, 1915, at Blair's Corners, he was a son of the late Henry and Melissa Wile Wetzel. He was married July 18, 1947, to Althea Keene, who preceded him in death on May 19, 1992. Mr. Wetzel was a 1933 graduate of Edenburg High School and worked for Knox Glass for more than 40 years. He was a longtime member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Knox and formerly served on the Keystone School Board. He enjoyed gardening, bookkeeping, hunting and spending time with his family. Mr. Wetzel is survived by a son, Arthur W. Wetzel and his wife, Rosemarie, of Murrysville; a daughter, Nancy J. Bell and her husband, Timothy, of Shippenville; seven grandchildren, Nathanael Wetzel and Annamarie Wetzel of Murrysville, Joel Bell of Myerstown, Elizabeth Allio and her husband, Todd, of Tionesta, Aaron Bell, Rachel Bell and Seth Bell, all of Shippenville; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles Wetzel, Willis Wetzel, John Wetzel, Benjamin Wetzel and William Wetzel; and three sisters, Margaret Bashline, Carrie Bashline and Anna Thomas.
