Marnic Fair, 75, of Butler, formerly of Parker, passed away Friday afternoon, April 10, 2009, in Cabot, following an illness. She is survived by her husband, C. Wayne Fair Sr., three children, eight grandchildren, a sister and a brother. William Craig Hendricks, Jr., M.D., 76, of Jupiter, Fla., passed away Saturday, March 28, 2009, following a brief illness. He was surrounded by his family. Born Feb. 3, l933, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Dr. W. Craig Hendricks and Dorothy W. Hendricks. Dr. Hendricks attended Brookville High School and graduated from Mercersburg Academy, where he played basketball and baseball. He graduated with department honors from Princeton University, where he was a member of Quadrangle Club and the rowing team. He received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia, and continued his training at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pa. Following his internship and first year of general surgery residency, he served with the United States Public Health Service in Galveston, Texas, where he received a letter of commendation for his devotion to duty during Hurricane Carla. In 1963, he began a fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in the field of neurological surgery. In 1968 he began his medical practice in Erie. He was a member of the Erie County Medical Society, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, the American Medical Association, and the Pennsylvania Neurosurgical Society. He served as chief of the division of neurosurgery at Hamot Hospital from 1978 to 1981, and for many years he served as medical director to the local multiple sclerosis society. Dr. Hendricks was deeply committed to his family and his patients. A man of many interests, he held a radio operator's license, a SCUBA certification, and a private pilot's license. Following his retirement, he continued his zeal for education by earning an executive MBA at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He was a member of the Erie Yacht Club and the Palm Beach Power Squadron, and he continued his love of sailing after his retirement. He was a member of the Kahkwa Club for many years, and although he couldn't be called an avid golfer, he was extremely proud of his hole-in-one across the pond. Dr. Hendricks was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant in Erie. In addition to his wife of 52 years, Janet Ketner Hendricks, formerly of Clarion, he is survived by three daughters, Lynne Hendricks and her husband, Les Aker, of Springfield, Va., Marcia H. Beckman and her husband, Orhan, of Rochester, N.Y., and Pamela Hendricks and her husband, Mark Childers, of Mooresville, N.C.; and three grandchildren, Ryan and Matthew Childers and Renan Beckman. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara H. Emerick of Hobe Sound, Fla.; nieces; nephews; and extended family. A memorial service will be held for family and friends to celebrate his life. Johnson, 79, of 1859 Buxton Road, Titusville, an Air Force veteran, coach and avid Titusville sports fan, died at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2009, at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh. Born Sept 18, 1929, in Titusville, he was a son of Albert and Ellen Williams Johnson. He and the former Elaine Warner were married March 16, 1951, in St. James Memorial Episcopal Church of Titusville, and she survives. He attended elementary school in Rometown and graduated in 1947 from Titusville High School. Mr. Johnson served in the U.S. Air Force with the 342nd Bombardment Squadron and Bombardment Wing. He was honorably discharged in 1952 with the rank of staff sSergeant. Prior to entering the service, he was employed by the family business, Johnson Oil Co., where he was a bulldozer operator. After serving in the Air Force, he went to work for Ellis Day as an appliance repairman. Mr. Johnson then owned and operated Johnson Appliances for 25 years. He retired from Cytemp Specialty Steel Corp., where he worked in the melt shop, but his retirement lasted only momentarily as he bagan working for Bob Poux until 2008. Mr. Johnson enjoyed coaching. He spent more than 20 years working with Titusville youth, teaching them how to play football and wrestle. His excitement for the game of football never allowed him to miss a Rockets game, either at home or away. He also loved Penn State football, especially attending games with his brother. Mr. Johnson also spent a lot of time on the farm, riding his John Deere tractor. Most of all, he was extremely proud of the achievements of his grandchildren. Mr. Johnson was a member of Bruce Shorts VFW Post 5958 VFW and BPO Elks Lodge 264. He is survived by his wife, Elaine, of Titusville; four children, Cheryl Rumbaugh and her husband, Ronald, Teri Wray and her husband ,Robert, all of Titusville, Julie McKain and her husband, Dale, of Mahaffey, and Kevin Johnson and his wife, Aly, of Jamestown, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, Alisha Brose, Chad A. Turner and his wife, Kali, Lucas Turner, Joshua Rumbaugh, Jessica Rumbaugh, Megan McKain, Amanda McKain and Canyon "Hot Shot" Johnson; and five great-granddaughters, Taleigh, Braelyn, Olivia, Carlan and Eden. Also surviving are one brother, Richard Johnson and his wife, Patricia, of Santa Barbara; one sister, Alliene Eller and her husband, Arthur, of Erie; numerous nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Brian Mangel and Ed Burns. A memorial service will be conducted for family and friends at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 17, at Carter Field in Titusville. Kinney, 87, of West Freedom, Parker, passed away early Friday morning, April 10, 2009, in Clarion Hospital, following an illness. Born June 19, 1921, in St. Petersburg, she was the daughter of t he late Harry Earl and Wavie Price Grazier. She was married July 14, 1937, to Gerald O. Kinney, who preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 1970. She attended the West Freedom United Methodist Church. For many years, Peg was in charge of the bakery at Gallagher's Plaza, near Callensburg, and was well known throughout the area for her pies as well as other baked goods. Peg also drove bus for years for Jordan bus contracting. She a member of the former auxiliaries of the VFW and American Legion of Parker. Mrs. Kinney is survived by three daughters, Charlotte Best and her husband, Mike, of West Freedom, Sandra Best and her husband, Leroy, of Knox and Diana Trexler and her husband, Gary, of Moore, Okla.; five sons, Wayne Patrick Kinney of Rose, N.Y., John C. Kinney and his wife, Lynn, of West Freedom, Terry Kinney and his wife, Kate, of West Freedom, Gary Kinney and his wife, Debbie, of Savannah, Ga. and Richard "Rich" Kinney and his wife, Myra, of Pittsboro, N.C.; 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Glenna Grazier Barger of Parker; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Kinney was preceded in death by a son, Michael B. Kinney on Aug. 3, 1996; a granddaughter, Laurie Chambers Rankin on June 21, 1993; two great-grandsons, Ethan and Evan Sell on July 25, 2001; and three brothers and one sister. Rapp, 89, of Erie, a native of this area and veteran of World War II, died Thursday, April 9, 2009, in Erie. Born Sept. 9, 1919, in Venus, he was the son of the late Ambrose and Margaret Rapp. He was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church, where he served as an usher for many years. Joseph worked as a driver with Penland Tankers in Oil City and then with Willis Distributing Co. until his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking. Joseph was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II, and was based at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii at the time of Pearl Harbor. Mr. Rapp is survived by two children, Joseph Rapp Jr. and his wife, Janet, and Betty Button, all of Erie; three grandchildren, Chandra Light and her husband, Marty, of Erie, Dana McIntire and her husband, Michael, of Erie and Damien Rapp and his wife, Kim, with the U.S. Air Force, based in Germany; three great-grandchildren, Austin Willey, Mackenzie Light and Broderick McIntire; his in-laws and lifelong friends, Hank and Pug McCauley of Rouseville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Rapp was preceded in death by his wife, Berniece K. Rapp; two brothers, Walter Rapp and Andrew Rapp; and a sister, Mary Quigley.
