Reichard, Mayport RD 2, Armstrong County Walter W. Wagner, Oil City Linda L. Buck, 59, of 211 E. Third St., Oil City, died Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Meadville Medical Center. Born Jan. 23, 1950, in Oil City, she was a daughter of the late John B. and Shirley M. Woods Sanner. She was a homemaker. Linda attended Faith Baptist Church in Seneca and McDaniel's Bible Baptist Church in Cochranton. She enjoyed playing bingo and loved her family and her dogs. Surviving are three sons, John L. Buck, Jamey W. Buck and Jerry E. Buck, all of Oil City; three grandchildren, Michael Buck, Randy Buck and Brittany Hepler; and one great-granddaughter, Haley Hepler. Survivors also include three sisters, Cheryl Swartz and her husband, Richard, of Franklin, Kim Schreffler and her husband, Donald, of Oil City, and Kit DeLoe and her husband, William, of Cochranton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandy Buck; a sister, Sandy Woods; and a nephew, Steven Swartz. Cannon, 92, of the Golden Living Center of Oil City, formerly of Towne Towers of Oil City, died at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009, following an extended illness. Born Sept. 30, 1916, in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Blau Gerenday. She was raised on the family farm on Summit Street in Hasson Heights. She attended St. Joseph School and Welch's Business College in Oil City. Mrs. Cannon was a member of St. Stephen Church, the St. Stephen Rosary Society, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the Monday Afternoon Club and AARP. She was employed as a banquet waitress at the Old Arlington Hotel on Seneca Street in Oil City until it closed. She then went on to the Oil City Holiday Inn in the same capacity and worked there for 20 years. She also was an excellent cook and volunteered at the St. Stephen School cafeteria in Oil City for many years. Mrs. Cannon was married Oct. 29, 1934, at St. John's Cathedral in Cleveland to Joseph M. Cannon of Plumer, who preceded her in death on March 16, 1980. Surviving are four daughters, Joanne of Hawaii, Kathleen of Oil City, and Cynthia (Terry) and Christine, both of Ohio; 12 grandchildren; a special niece and friend, Georgianne Torchia of Ohio; and a former son-in-law and friend, Terry McFetridge of Oil City. She was preceded in death by three grandchildren; and six brothers and sisters, John, Andrew, Frank and Joseph Gerenday and Mary Lutz and Ann Woodhall. A private family visitation was held Saturday evening in the Reinsel Funeral Home & Crematory in Oil City. A vigil service was also held, with Msgr. William C. Karg presiding. A committal service will be held at 10 a.m. today in Calvary Cemetery in Oil City with the Rev. Matthew Ruyechan, pastor at St. Stephen Church, presiding. A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel at St. Stephen rectory. Condolences may be sent at www.reinselfuneralhome.com. Larry W. Carll, 63, of Tionesta, died Friday, April 24, 2009, at UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born Feb. 14, 1946, in Titusville, he was a son of the late Gilbert W. and Martha A. "Sue" Atkin Carll. Larry worked for PennDOT out of Tionesta as a mechanic for 31 years, retiring in April 2004. He was a lifelong member of Tionesta Volunteer Fire Department, was on the board of directors for the Crawford/Venango Fire School, and was currently serving as a forest fire warden. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era in Bangkok, Thailand, from 1965 to 1969, specializing in fire and rescue with the rank of sergeant. He was a member of the Tidioute VFW. Larry enjoyed NASCAR and trips with his family and friends to "the track." He loved to fish, and there is nothing he enjoyed more than spending time with his family, friends and his special friend, Duffy, at "The Garage." He was married March 15, 1969, in Warren, to Becky Chockran Carll, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Michael W. Carll and his wife, Keri, of Oil City, and Timothy T. Carll and his wife, Jennifer, of West Hickory; and five grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Taylor, Kiera, Logan and Zachary. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by numerous aunts and uncles, his mother-in-law, a sister-in-law, and two brothers-in-law. Friends were received Sunday at the Norman J. Rose Bennett Horvath, 96, a resident of Pleasant Ridge Manor in Girard, formerly of Tionesta, died Sunday, April 26, 2009, at Pleasant Ridge Manor. Born July 31, 1912, in Waynesburg, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Reese and Martha Webb Bennett. Her favorite pastimes were knitting and gardening. She was married to Charles Horvath Jr., who preceded her in death Jan. 10, 1988. Surviving are a son, Jim James Horvath and his wife, Candy, of Albion; two grandchildren, James Horvath Jr. and Matthew Horvath, also of Albion; a sister, Margaret Buckner of Wyandotte, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews. Born March 24, 1958, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Harry and Lorraine Carlson Couts. Mrs. Miller was a 1976 graduate of West Forest High School. She possessed special gifts of care, compassion and sincere friendliness, and she exhibited those traits to everyone she knew and even to those that she did not know. She was of the Protestant faith. Mrs. Miller enjoyed writing, traveling and collecting memorabilia from the "Wizard of Oz", and she had a love for animals. Prior to raising her children, she was employed in the X-ray department at Oil City Hospital. She was married July 21, 1979, in Venus to Mick Miller, who survives. Also surviving are her parents, Harry and Lorraine Couts of Venus; two sons, Steven Miller of Pittsburgh and Jeremy Miller and his wife, Erica, of Dover, Del.; and one grandson, Beau Miller. Survivors also include a brother, Harry Couts Jr. and wife, Patty, of Venus, and their two sons, Mike Couts and wife, Ann, and Bryan Couts; her mother-in-law, Delores Miller, of Venus; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. She also leaves three very special and close friends, Patti Russell of Seneca, Clorise Trayer of California and Sally Jack of Cranberry Township. Reichard, 71, of Mayport RD 2, Armstrong County, died at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009, in the Hospice House in Shippenville. Born Dec. 11, 1937, in Mayport, he was a son of Spurgeon and Nellie Kramer Reichard. Mr. Reichard worked as an appliance repairman. He enjoyed hunting, doing yard work and the outdoors. He loved his cats. He was married May 16, 1963, to the former Florence M. Sloan, who preceded him in death Nov. 16, 2005. Surviving are two sons, Scott A. Reichard and his wife, Marie, of Walstonburg, N.C., and Chris M. Reichard and his wife, Sara, of Shippenville; two daughters, Tina M. Troup of Brookville and Sandra L. Reichard of Princeton, N.C.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Survivors also include two sisters, Shirley Stewart and her husband, Ted, of West Palm Beach, Fla., and June Reddinger of Florida; and one brother, James Reichard and his wife, Gloria, of West Palm Beach, Fla. Wagner, 89, of Oil City, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at the Oil City Presbyterian Home after a brief illness. Born Aug. 3, 1919, in Shippenville, he was a son of the late Charles A. and Minnie Hale Wagner. Mr. Wagner taught in the Tionesta and Endeavor schools for 13 years and in Oil City schools for 26 years. He very much enjoyed his work. He enjoyed playing cards, checkers, swimming at the YWCA and playing practical jokes. He also loved to socialize with his many friends. He was married Oct. 17, 1952, to the former Ruth Daum, who survives. Survivors also include two daughters, Marilyn Betzold and her husband, Robert, of Cranberry and Nancy Davis of Woodstock, Vt.; and seven grandchildren, Trenton Moulin, Michael Moulin, Bethany Betzold, Jenna Ware, Hanna Davis, Jesse Davis and Nikolai Davis. Also surviving are a sister, Alice Farnen of Gibsonia; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, the Rev. Martin Wagner, Lewis Wagner, Carl Wagner, Paul Wagner and James Wagner; and three sisters, Barbara Daubenspeck, Dorothy Schneider and Mary Wheeler.
