Barker, formerly of Hydetown and Southwoods Assisted Living Community Maurine Brewster Kapp, Sewickley, formerly of Oil City Norman "Butch" Keller, relative of local residents Robert Lovando Peck, 110 Moran St., Oil City, formerly of 331 Hasson Ave., Oil City Marjorie A. Wike, formerly of Clarion Helen M. Barker, 85, formerly of Hydetown and Southwoods Assisted Living Community, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at Wesbury United Methodist Community in Meadville. Born Feb. 14, 1924, in Barton, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Anna Clickett Matuszewski. She was married to Robert L. Barker on July 6, 1946, in Titusville. He preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 1993. Mrs. Barker was a 1942 graduate of Grover Cleveland High School in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was co-owner with her husband of the Rustic Inn in Hydetown and of the Hydetown Hardware Store. Mrs. Barker was a member of St. Walburga Church. She was also a member of the Hydetown Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxillary and of the Bruce Shorts Post No. 5958 VFW Ladies Auxillary. She enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by three daughters, Joyce Pilewski and her husband, Jerome, of Mars, Judy Robbins and her husband, John, of Buies Creek, N.C., and Elaine Smith and her husband, Richard, of Townville; six grandchildren, Rob Pilewski and his wife, Avis, of Vass, N.C., Greg Pilewski and his wife, Bianca, of Baltimore, Md., Melissa Deletant and her husband, Aiden, of London, England, Brian Smith and his wife, Lynette, of Meadville, and Joseph Robbins and Jessica Robbins, both of Raleigh, N.C.; and two great grandchildren, Ricky Smith and Cora Pilewski. She is also survived by a brother, Louis Matuszewski and his wife, Ann, of Middle Village, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Lillian Kerr of Port Ritchie, Fla.; a dear friend, Sherry Smith of Townville; two uncles, John Matuszewski of Chicago, Ill., and Frank Cardinali of Lexington, Ky.; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Viola Leibbrand; and an infant brother, Robert Matuszewski. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 N. Washington St., Titusville. A vigil service will be conducted at 3:45 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Walburga Church with the Rev. D.G. Davis III, pastor of the Titusville Catholic Community, as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Catharines Cemetery. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Hydetown Volunteer Fire Department, the American Diabetes Association or to the charity of one's choice. Maurine Brewster Kapp, 100, of Sewickley, a former resident of Oil City, died Friday, April 10, 2009. Born Aug. 1, 1908, in Tidioute, she was the daughter of Maurice and Ellen McCarthy Brewster. She was married to Dr. Kenneth G. Kapp, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Kapp grew up in Oil City, was a graduate of Mercyhurst College of Erie and received her master's degree from Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh. A founder of the Coraopolis branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and the branch's first president, she was instrumental in bringing live theater to the students of schools in that area. Through the cooperative effort of the AAUW, plays were staged by national touring companies in local schools and were well received, as were several lecture and concert series. She loved children, education and cultural growth and spent many years as a Latin and English teacher at Avonworth High School. Mrs. Kapp is survived by two daughters, Lynne "Polly" Thompson and her husband, Peter, of Leesburg, Va., and Susan Mayo and her husband, Robb, of New Canaan, Conn. and Vero Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren, Julie Bradbury and her husband, Tom, of Atlanta, Ga., Christy Hahn and her husband, Adam, of Darien, Conn., and Scott Mayo of Atlanta, Ga.; and four great-grandchildren, Tommy, Brooks, Molly and Connor. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Kapp was preceded in death by a brother, Leo Brewster. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. James Church in Sewickley. Keller and Pauline V. Keller, were from Franklin and preceded him in death. Mr. Keller was a graduate of Arkansas State University, and he served in the U.S. Air Force. He was in the insurance and automotive industries in Chattanooga until moving to Dickson, Tenn., in the late 1990s. Mr. Keller is survived by two daughters, Tammy Keller of Louisville and Angela Pettigrew of Ringgold, Ga.; two grandsons, Clay and Will Pettigrew; two sisters, Bonnie Hines of Franklin and Karen Hepler of Oil City; a niece, Shelly Hepler, and a nephew, Wesley Hepler. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tenn. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Robert Lovando Peck, 85, of 110 Moran St., Oil City, formerly of 331 Hasson Ave., Oil City, passed away at 4:35 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2009, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca following an extended illness. Born Sept. 12, 1924, in the Jamestown, Ohio Hospital, he was the only son of Mary Geraldine Crawford Peck Moyer. He was married Oct. 8, 1964, at Good Hope Lutheran Church in Oil City, to the former Linda Lee Hewitt of Oil City. She preceded him in death May 10, 2007. Mr. Peck grew up in the small town of Andover, Ohio. As a young man, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served four tours of duty that included service during World War II and Korea. He was a Purple Heart recipient. Settling in Oil City, Bob was employed by the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole as a parole agent for Venango County, retiring in 1985. He was proud that he helped found the first drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in Venango County called Decision House. He later worked as the court crier at the Venango County Courthouse. His compassionate gestures and iconoclastic thinking brought pleasure to many people. He had sat on many community boards during his tenure in Venango County. Mr. Peck is survived by three children, Bobby Peck of Pittsburgh, Chris Peck of Lancaster and Diane Estes of Godfrey, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Stephen, Matthew, Emily, Theodore, Mary, Virginia and William; and two siblings, Anne Louise Jackson of Texas and Alton Peck of Ohio. He is also survived by four special friends, Jim Breth, Ed Flick, Shelly Flickner and Dr. Robert Pilewski. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Reinsel Funeral Home and Crematory in Oil City with the Rev. Victor J.
