Gould, New Bethlehem (Putneyville) Charles Richard Jarzenski, 210 ½ State St., Oil City John Wendell Love, Stoney Lonesome Road, Clarion Township David J. McCune Jr., Cropps Corners Road, Knox Sheldon E. "Sonny" Morrison, Seneca Eleanor Slaughenhoupt Yingling, Parker Irene Marie Gasper-Wright, 125 Allen Cove, Ward, Ark. Miskimmin services set James R. Gould, 95, of New Bethlehem (Putneyville), died Friday evening, Feb. 13, 2009, at the McKinley Health Center in Brookville. Born Dec. 8, 1913, in Putneyville, he was a son of the late Clarence and Laura Gould. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard. He taught in the Armstrong School District and retired in 1976 after 42 years of service. He was a member of the Putneyville United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge #522 of New Bethlehem, the American Legion and the Loyal Order of Moose. He enjoyed farming and spending time with his family. He was married to the former Florence Nelson, who preceded him in death Dec. 11, 1995. Survivors include a daughter, Carol Clemens of New Bethlehem; a granddaughter, Annette King and her husband, Todd; and a great-granddaughter, Macy King, all of New Bethlehem. Also surviving are a sister, Vira Orr of Warren, Ohio; and a very special friend, Ruby Bailey of New Bethlehem. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers; Arthur Gould, Philip Gould and Stanley Gould; two sisters, Margaret Kump and Lottie Houser; and a son-in-law, Jerry Clemens. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. today at the Rupert Funeral Home, 301 Penn Street, New Bethlehem. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Charles Richard Jarzenski, 64, of 210 ½ State St., Oil City, died at 12:55 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at this residence. Born July 14, 1944, in Oil City, he was a son of the late Henry and Ardean Henderson Grove Jarzenski. He was raised in the Bethel area near Titusville and attended Sunnyside School and Titusville schools. He moved to Ambridge in 2006 and to Freedom in 2008. He served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1976 and then the National Guard from 1981 to 1985. Mr. Jarzenski was an inspector for Bay Valley Foods. Prior to working at Bay Valley Foods he was self employed as owner/operator of Chuck's Appliances. He also worked for Palmer Appliances and Sears doing appliance service and repair. He attended the Lighthouse Ministries in Titusville. Mr. Jarzenski was a member of the Titusville Moose Club, American Legion Post 0341, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3298, Order Sons of Italy, and Sons of Columbus Lodge #164. Surviving are two sons, Charles R. Jarzenski II and wife, Kimberly, of Oil City and Shawn P. Jarzenski of Syracuse, N.Y.; a daughter, Sarah R. Jarzenski of Oil City; and six grandchildren, Brittany, Todd, Danielle, Chase, Devyn and Chelsea. Also surviving are three sisters, Donna Dolak of Youngstown, Ohio, Sandra Grove Anthony and husband, Michael, of Oil City and Susan Grove Fitch and husband, Harold, of Bradenton, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Darrell Grove; and a brother James Jarzenski. John Wendell Love, 77, of Stoney Lonesome Road, Clarion Township, died at 11:24 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at his home. Born May 1, 1931, in Clarion Township, he was a son of William G. and Vera N. Elder Love. Mr. Love worked for the Owens Illinois Glass Plant for more than 40 years before retiring in 1992 from the forming department. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 as a corporal in the Signal Service Company 2 in Korea. He attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clarion. Mr. Love was a member of the American Legion Post # 66 in Clarion and the Clarion Moose Lodge # 101. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, the Clarion River, spending time with his family and attending the sporting events of his children and grandchildren. He was married Nov. 10, 1951, to the former Eileen Aaron, who survives. Survivors also include six children, Stephen Love and wife, Debbie, of Centerville, Julianne Peer and husband, James, of Brookville, David Love of Clarion, Eric Love and his wife, Jane, of Massilon, Ohio, Nancy Wolbert and husband, Frank, of Strattanville, and Brian Love and wife, Amy, of Clarion. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, Jonathan Love and his wife, Laurie, of Oil City, Tausha Love, Jennifer and Jaime Peer, Olivia and Peyton Love, Jessica and Sarah Wolbert, and Julia and Ava Love; and two great-great-grandsons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Darrell Love; and a sister, Phyllis Elder. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Robert V. Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Hospice unit in Cabot. Born April 26, 1938, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late David J. McCune Sr. and Jeanette Marshall McCune. Mr. McCune retired from Bell Telephone after 35 years of service. He was a member of Mount Joy United Methodist Church, Knox RD, where he served as a trustee. He belonged to Edenburg Lodge # 550 F & AM and the Coudersport Consistory, was a life member of the NRA and belonged to the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors. He was a former assistant fire chief of Penn Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. McCune was an auctioneer and had a love of antiques. He enjoyed Masonic Lodge and Consistory, vacationing at Myrtle Beach and being outdoors. He was a loving father and grandfather. He is survived by a daughter, Shawn Acosta of Cherry Hill, N.J.; a son, David J. McCune III and his wife, Lauren, of Slippery Rock; six grandchildren, David J. McCune IV, Elissa McCune, Megan McCune, Jamison Acosta, Chelsea Acosta and Tristen Acosta; and his companion, Beverly Kriebel, whom he loved and adored. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the David C. McEntire Funeral Home, 504 E. Penn St., Knox, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Joy United Methodist Church, 159 Mount Joy Road, Knox. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church with the Rev. Dan Myers, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Sheldon E. "Sonny" Morrison, 88, of Seneca, died at 1:05 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. Born Aug. 19, 1920, in Franklin, he was the son of Perry and Rosa Exley Morrison. Mr. Morrison graduated from Salem High School in 1938, and then attended the Toledo School of Meat Cutting. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a medic and an ambulance driver. He was a long-time member of the Seneca United Methodist Church, where he served on the board of trustees for many years, and was also a committee member for the parsonage building project. Mr. Morrison enjoyed woodworking as a hobby, and made small furniture and many craft projects. He was employed as a butcher for several area markets, including Loblaw's, the A&P, and Quality Market. He retired from Quaker State as a tank truck driver in 1982. He was married on Feb. 15, 2002, in the Seneca United Methodist Church to the former Violet L. Alden, who survives. Also surviving are three step-daughters, Cindy Yargar of Nickleville, Jenny McGinnis of Parker, and Eileen Trulick of Worthington; two step-sons, James E. Alden of San Diego, Calif., and Gary D. Alden of Oil City. Several step-grandchildren, one step-great-grandson, and two step-great-granddaughters also survive. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Myrna Ashbaugh of the Clairview Home in Sligo; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Madeline Ashbaugh Morrison in 1988; his second wife, Joyce Stalker Morrison in 1997; and three sisters, Isabelle Strawbridge, Martha Jane Ward, and Thelma Colley. Mr. Morrison was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, Tyler J. Born March 14, 1921, in Perryville, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Marion Karnes Slaughenhoupt. She worked at Central Electric for more than 33 years in the billing department before retiring. She was a member of the women's club at the United Methodist church in St. Petersburg before becoming a member of the Parker United Methodist Church. She was married March 14, 1942, to William Earl Yingling, who passed in 1991. Surviving are a daughter, Elaine Fisher and husband, Eric, of St. Petersburg; a sister, Isabell Tidd of Davenport, Fla.; and a brother, Dick Slaughenhoupt of Parker. Survivors also include three grandchildren, Cheryl (Jack) Sandusky of Gardner, Mont., Kelly Fisher of Knox, and Greg Fisher of St. Petersburg; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Garing of Chicora; and one brother, Evan Slaughenhoupt of Butler. Miskimmin services set A celebration of life service for Carol Jean Miskimmin, 54, of 295 Main St. Tidioute, who died at her home Wednesday evening, Feb. 11, 2009, will be celebrated at 4 p.m. Saturday in the West Hickory United Methodist Church.
