Sutton Carol Jean Miskimmin Hallas, 54, of 295 Main St., Tidioute, passed away Wednesday evening, Feb. 11, 2009, at her home, after a long battle with cancer. Born April 13, 1954, in Homestead, she was a daughter of Carolyn Strott Miskimmin and the late William Miskimmin. Mrs. Hallas lived in the Tidioute/Hickory area since 1963. Although she was very eccentric, she loved music and animals. Mrs. Hallas is survived by her husband, Mike Hallas; two daughters, Ricci Hallas of Tidioute, and Carly Divido and her husband, Tom, of Endeavor; a son, Chance Hallas of Limestone Township; her mother, Carolyn Miskimmin Dashner of Tidioute; a brother, Rick Miskimmin of Tionesta; a good friend, Holly Payne; and six grandchildren. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held in the West Hickory United Methodist at a time to be announced. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Humane Society. Charles Richard Jarzenski, 64, of 210 ½ State St., Oil City, died at 12:55 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at this residence. The Morrison Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published in Monday's paper. Virginia L. Kline, 84, of 432 Wiley Ave., Franklin, died at 4:55 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. Born Nov. 16, 1924, in Franklin, she was the daughter of the late Louis Cole and Mary Knoch. She was married July 18, 1953, to Clarence W. "Bud" Kline Jr., who preceded her in death. Mrs. Kline retired in 1987 after 17 years as head nurse at UPMC Northwest. She was also a nurse at Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia from 1946-1948. She was a member of Rocky Grove Presbyterian Church, Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Department auxiliary, AARP, RSVP (Caring Place volunteer, VNA) and a church deacon. Mrs. Kline was a 1942 graduate of Rocky Grove High School and a 1945 graduate of Spencer Hospital School of Nursing. She enjoyed her family and friends and Bible studies. Mrs. Kline is survived by three children, David W. Kline of Franklin, Linda D. Andreasen and her husband, Jerry, of Garden Grove, Calif., and Pamela A. MacKenzie and her husband, Jeff, of Franklin; four grandchildren, Jason Andreasen and his wife, Robin, of Wisconsin, Michael Andreasen of Bakersfield, Calif., Joshua Montgomery and his wife, Tiffany, of Franklin, and Caley MacKenzie of Franklin; four great-grandchildren, Jordan Montgomery of Franklin, Hunter Montgomery of Franklin, Caleb Andreasen of Wisconsin and Hannah Andreasen of Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a brother, Robert Cole and his wife, Marilyn, of Titusville; and a sister-in-law, Audrey Cole of Titusville. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kline was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Spencer in 1951; her second husband, Clarence E. "Bud" Kline Jr.; a brother, Ronald Cole; and a sister-in-law, Jean Cole. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Gardinier Funeral Home Inc., 1315 Chestnut St., Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Marc de Jeu of Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church, assisted by the Rev. Joan Leah Sparks, 80, of 294 Caldwell Road, Oil City, died at 4:55 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, at her residence. Born Nov. 10, 1928, in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Milo and Velma Estella Brumbaugh Slater. She was married Sept. 14, 1949, to Calvin C. Sparks, who survives. Mrs. Sparks worked at Brody's in Oil City, Kinney Shoe Store in Franklin and Brown's Shoe Store in Oil City, and she had waitressed at the Log Cabin and her uncle's Bridge Restaurant in Oil City. She also was an artist and did oil painting and photo colorization. She attended Heckathorn Methodist Church before her marriage and later attended the Church of Latter Day Saints and Hill City Methodist Church. Mrs. Sparks enjoyed her flower beds, painting, cake decorating, mowing grass, yard work and doing things for others. She traveled with her husband and children while he served in the U.S. Army until he went to Korea. She loved gospel and country music, enjoyed reading Christian fiction and loved to cook. She loved everyone and thought always of others. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Sparks is survived by one son, Daniel J. Sparks and his wife, Sandra, of Oil City; two daughters, Deborah Jo Spence and her husband, Roger, of Pleasantville, and Cheryl Roxann Anderson and her husband, Douglas, of Hannaville; six grandchildren, Amy E. Sparks, James F. Anderson, Eric D. Anderson, Rebecca K. Sparks, Justin D. Sparks and Adam J. Sparks; and two great-grandchildren, Ciana Heath and Ashton Heath. Also surviving is a sister, Lois Higgins of Greenville, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Calvin Sparks; five brothers, Joseph Slater, LeRoy Slater, Eugene Slater, Gerald Slater and Donald Slater; and one sister, Shirley Slater. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Morrison Funeral Home in Oil City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Sutton Rexford A. Sutton, 51, of Oil City and Titusville, died on Friday evening, Feb. 6, 2009. He is survived by five step-children, Kenneth Garren, Jessi Garren, Nelissa George, Ryan Garren, and Markco Gervasoni; three step-sisters, Margaret Kinney and her husband, Richard, of Titusville, Phyllis Yowell and her husband, Tony, of Florida, and Rosella Daly and her husband, Hank, of Oil City; and a step-brother, James Kelly and his wife, Karen, of Hydetown. Mr. Sutton was preceded in death by his step-father, Thomas Kelly Jr.
