Gunn, Meadville Edward Reitz, Distant Melvin H. Ward, Oil City Delores Y. Young, Largo, Fla.,formerly of Franklin Barbara Ann Zimmerman, 2032 Hale Road, Venus Clarabell Florence Baughman, 82, formerly of Towne Towers and Seneca, a resident of the Oil City Presbyterian Home, died at 4:50 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. Born April 28, 1926, in Venus, she was a daughter of Benjamin and Bertha Black VanCamp. At the age of 7, she was adopted by Thomas and Margaret McCauley Herring. Mrs. Baughman worked in the kitchen at Grandview Nursing Home for 15 years. She was married Aug. 5, 1942, at St. Michael Catholic Church by the Rev. Francis Theobald, to John Robert Baughman, who preceded her in death July 17, 1992. Mrs. Baughman enjoyed playing bingo and listening to country music. Mrs. Baughman is survived by three sons, John R. Baughman and William E. Baughman, both of Florida, and Floyd J. Baughman and his wife, Kathy, of Oil City; six grandchildren, Randy Baughman, Mark A. Baughman, Troy Brian Baughman, Josie F. Baughman, Billy J. Baughman and Pamela O'Neil; several great grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Edith Baughman of Venus. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Baughman was preceded in death by a son, Robert L. Baughman; five sisters, Frances Kraft, Dorothy Ferrell, Viola Kunzerman, Beulah Ziegler and Evelyn VanCamp; three brothers, Frederick VanCamp, Harry VanCamp and Charles VanCamp; and two great grandchildren, Tammy Jo Baughman and Angel Baughman. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Morrison Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Brandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Oil City Presbyterian Home. Carrie Sue Bracken, 93, of Kittanning, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. Born Sept. 11, 1915, in Desire, Jefferson County, she was a daughter to Peter Isaac and Elizabeth Scadden Nelson. She was married Aug. 26, 1939, to C. LaVerne Bracken, who preceded her in death Feb. 13, 2002. Mrs. Bracken was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church in Kittanning. She was also a member of the Kittanning Country Club and a charter member of the Rebecca Lodge of Sligo. Mrs. Bracken was a 1934 graduate of Kittanning High School. She lived in the Sligo area for 37 years until she relocated to Kittanning in 1972. Mrs. Bracken enjoyed golfing and traveling with her late husband, LaVerne. She is survived by her sister, Margaret M. "Peggy" Kline and her husband, Fred, of Shippenville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Bracken was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John A. "Jack" Nelson and Donald Nelson. Friends will be received from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday at the Grace Presbyterian Church, N. Jefferson St., Kittanning. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Myrtle Irene Firster Burchfield, 89, of South Woods Assisted Living Center in Titusville, went home to be with her Lord at 2:55 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009. Born July 2, 1919 in Oil City, she was a daughter of James and Zoe Ross Firster. Mrs. Burchfield graduated from Cranberry High School in 1937. She was married July 8, 1941, to William Thomas Burchfield, who preceded her in death July 11, 2008. The couple had been married 67 years. She worked for 15 years for the Oil City Area School District as a cafeteria manager, and for many years was a homemaker. Mrs. Burchfield enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren, knitting, baking, and in her later years, bowling and swimming with her husband. Over her life, she had been a member of the Oil City Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, the Oil City First Church of the Nazarene and the Erie First Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Burchfield is survived by two daughters, Judy Pellicci and her husband, Tommaso, of Farmingdale, N.Y. and Darlene Havens of Oil City; a son, William T. Burchfield Jr. and his wife, Janet, of Girard; six grandchildren, Diana Minarczyk, Lisa Pellicci-Alvarez, David Havens, Tammy Moon, Benjamin Burchfield and Bethany Burchfield; and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Mary Sophie Scharff of Ashtabula, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Betty Firster of Oil City and Lillian Lindberg of Union City; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, and husband, Mrs. Burchfield was preceded in death by a sister, Alberta Firster; and four brothers, Earl Firster, Frank Firster, John Firster and Henry Firster. Helen Kepple Buckley, 95, of Sugar Creek Rest near Worthington, formerly of Parker, passed away Sunday evening, Feb. 1, 2009, at the home following a lengthy illness. She had operated Helen Kepple Beauty Shoppe in Parker from 1934 until retirement in 2000 at the age of 86. She was the widow of Paul Eugene "Jim" Buckley who passed away in 1967. Bruce D. Cartwright, 80, of Indiana, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born in 1928, he was the son of Walter Jon and Gertrude Viola Dannecker Cartwright, who preceded him in death. Mr. Cartwright served in the U.S. Army, and was a veteran of World War II. He was a licensed clinical psychologist and was employed as a professor of psychology at IUP for 26 years before retiring in 1992. Mr. Cartwright was also a pyrotechnician for Cartwright Fireworks, Inc., in Franklin. Mr. Cartwright was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church, in Indiana, and a 32 degree mason with the Uniontown Laurel Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting, gardening, and other outdoor activities, and he also enjoyed the special times he spent with his grandchildren. Mr. Cartwright was survived by two sons, Bruce D. Cartwright II and his wife, Lucy, of Stafford, Va., and Scott R. Cartwright and his wife, Julie, of Franklin; three grandchildren, Erin, Zachary, and Wilson; two nephews, Leroy Pickstone of Perryopolis, and James Cartwright of Ashboro, N.C. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cartwright was preceded in death by his wife, Ethelyn Cartwright, on Feb. 15, 2008. Born June 14, 1914, in Lowber, Westmoreland County, she was the daughter of the late Eli and Mary Blachier. She was married Aug. 31, 1935, in Corsica, by the Rev. A. E. Timmis to Ira "Alec" Dehner, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Dehner enriched the lives of many people through her lively zest for life. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Dehner thoroughly enjoyed the company of numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Mary was an active member of the Strattanville United Methodist Church and enjoyed quilting with her church family. She is survived by a daughter, L. Irene Baker and her husband, Edward, of Fisher Road, Strattanville; three grandchildren, Jodi Taylor and her husband, Tracy, of Chilicothe, Ohio, Michael Baker and his wife, Marlene, of Strattanville, and Stephen Baker and his wife, Andrea, of Limestone. She is survived by seven great-grandchildren, Zachary Taylor, Melissa Taylor, Zane Taylor, Emily Baker, Wyatt Baker, Alec Baker, and Erin Baker. She is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Leona and Richard McNaughton; a sister-in-law, Mabel Blachier; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Dehner was preceded in death by a sister, Nellie Gearlach; and a brother, Eli Blachier. De Woody, 68, of Fort Worth, Texas, formerly of Cooperstown, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009. Born Aug. 24, 1940, in California, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Maxine Campbell Sutton. She was married April 4, 1964, to Carl J. De Woody, who preceded her in death Dec. 6, 2005. She was self employed as an independent Watkins director and representative, before moving to Fort Worth, Texas. Mrs. De Woody enjoyed reading and doing a variety of craft projects. Mrs. De Woody is survived by four children, Tamara Blankinship of Fort Worth, Texas, Pamela Matve and her husband, Wayne, of Russell, Dana Martin and her husband, Bruce, of Alta Loma, Calif., and Rose Rye of Visalia, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, Joshua Egan of Fort Worth, Texas, Jacob and Bambi Blankinship of Fort Worth, Texas, Heidi Malys and her husband, David, of Reno, Jeremiah Barker and his wife, Amanda, of Connersville, Ind., Brittany Stratton of Alta Loma, Calif., and Amanda, Nehemia, Josiah, Samuel and Abigail Rye all of Visalia, Calif.; three great-grandchildren, Raelene and Mikaela Egan of Fort Worth, Texas, and Rebekah Barker of Connersville, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. De Woody was preceded in death by two sisters, Marion Blake and Evelyn Hardman. A memorial service will be held and details announced at a later date. Born, Jan. 27, 1943, in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late Ray A. and Esther Probst Frank. She was a 1961 graduate of Oil City High School. Mrs. Graff was married March 23, 1963, to Richard J. Graff, who survives. The couple would have celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary this year. She was a lifelong resident of Oil City and had been employed by Bell Telephone Company and later Sears, Roebuck and Co. in Oil City. Mrs. Graff was a life long member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Oil City where she served on the Board of Deacons. Mrs. Graff and her husband also volunteered their time for the Meals on Wheels program. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Graff is survived by a son, Robert Graff and his fiancée, Tina Smith, of Oil City; two daughters, Karen Evans and her husband, Jeff, of Oil City and Sharon Graff of Seneca; and two sisters, Dorothy Rugh and her husband, Harold A., of Oil City and Andra Hankey and her husband, James, of Eden, NY. She is also survived by a grandson, Donnie Graff of Seneca; a granddaughter, Jessica Evans of Oil City; and several nieces, nephews and cousins in the Lock Haven and Scranton areas. Mrs. Graff was preceded in death by her parents. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church, 215 E. Bissell Ave. Oil City. Among her survivors is a daughter, Sue Schossler of Oil City. Edward W. Reitz, 72, of Distant, passed away Wednesday morning, Jan. 28, 2009, at his residence. Born Jan. 12, 1937, in Jefferson County, he was the son of Paul Himes and Ethel June Reitz Himes. He was first married to the former Mary E. Raybuck, who preceded him in death. He was then married Jan. 26, 1980, to the former Thelma L. Pettigrew, who survives. Mr. Reitz was a self-employed mechanic. He was a U.S. Marine and was a veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Reitz is survived by his mother, Ethel June Himes of Lake Milton, Ohio; his wife, Thelma L. Reitz of Distant; five sons, Willis Reitz of Grafton, Ohio, Robert Reitz and his wife, Theresa, of Mesquite, Texas, David Reitz of Niles, Ohio, Rodney Reitz of Niles, Ohio, and Paul Reitz and his wife, Suzy, of Niles, Ohio; and one daughter, Mary Ann Reitz and her companion, Randy, of Niles, Ohio. He is also survived by a stepdaughter, Debbie Beecher of Pennsylvania; three stepsons, Boy Lloyd, Ken Lloyd and Dave Lloyd, all of Pennsylvania; and two brothers, Lewis Toe Himes and his wife, Maxine, of Fairmount City, and Kenneth Himes and his wife, Sharon, of Florida. Mr. Reitz was preceded in death by his father, Paul Himes; his first wife, Mary E. Reitz; a sister, Betty Fenstermaker; a brother, Robert Himes; a grandson, Travis Reitz Hoover; a nephew, Clifford Fenstermaker Jr.; a great-niece, Amber Himes; and a great-nephew, Matthew Smith. Ward, 86, of Oil City, died at 1:35 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, in the Pennsylvania Soldiers and Sailors Home in Erie, after a brief illness. He was born on May 28, 1922, in Cherrytree, near Titusville. Mr. Ward spent most of his earlier years in the Dempseytown area. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. After returning from the service, he worked at Sealtest for a number of years before entering the dairy store business in Waterford and Edinboro for a few years. Upon selling his dairy business, he returned to Sealtest in Oil City. He later retired after driving tank truck for Pennzoil Refinery for a number of years. After retirement, he worked part-time positions for both Weaver Buick and Giant Eagle grocery store in Oil City. Mr. Ward was a founding member of the Cornplanter Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as both secretary and treasurer. He was also a long-time member of the VFW Post 464, as well as the Eagles Club in Oil City. Mr. Ward was married to the former Marjorie Blaney, who preceded him in death on Feb. 22, 1993. Mr. Ward is survived by a son, Duane Ward and his wife, Doreen, of Avon, Ind.; two daughters, Diane Witmer and her husband, Wally of Erie, and Doreen Bohanon and her husband, Hoy, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and six grandchildren, Dara and Kirk Ward, Ashley and Ward Witmer, Brooke Riddle and Patrck Bohanon. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Mallory. Young, 72, of 8372 Candlewood Road, Largo, Fla., died at 5:53 p.m. Jan. 26, 2009, in Seminole, Fla. Born Aug. 14, 1936, in Franklin, she was the daughter of the late Marcus L. Hutcheson and Pearl J. Mayes. Ms. Young worked from 1969 to 2008 as an Avon representative, and from 1993 to 2008 as a Wal-Mart associate. She moved to Mentor, Ohio, in 1958 and stayed there until she moved to the Tampa Bay area in 1980. Ms. Young was an animal lover and Elvis fan. Ms. Young is survived by a son, Rick Young of Seminole, Fla.; five grandchildren, Jeanette Cook and her husband, Brain, of Seminole, Fla., John Cupp of Geneva, Ohio, Michelle Amato of Wake Forest, N.C., and Steven Young and Jeffrey Young, both of Chardon, Ohio; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Ms. Young was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Hutcheson; and a daughter, Lacinda Cupp. There will be no visitation. Born Nov. 17, 1940, in Cranberry, she was a daughter of Austin and Zada Delaney Hockman. Mrs. Zimmerman was a homemaker and had worked at the Villa Italia. She had attended the Cranberry schools. On Sept. 27, 1969, she married Vernon W. Zimmerman who survives Also surviving are four sisters, Zada DeLong and husband Kenneth of Roaring Springs, Nancy Mohnkern and husband James of Oil City, Vickie McLaughlin of Oil City and Linda Porath and husband William of Seneca; many nieces and nephews; and her special dog, Gilley.
