Herron, New Windsor, N.Y., formerly of Oil City Louella Irene Mong, 1802 Rocky Grove Ave., Franklin Dale LaRue Moore, 156 Wayne St., Oil City Wayne C. Morgan, 436 Sugarcreek Drive, Franklin Melvin H. Ward services set Claire Bell DeWoody, 95, a life-long resident of Seneca, died at 8:40 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, in her home. Born July 18, 1913, at the McCalmont farm on Bredinsburg Road, she was the daughter of Charles E. and Grace Moore Bell. She was married Sept. 27, 1942, in Seneca United Methodist Church to James L. DeWoody, who preceded her in death Aug. 19, 1996. Mrs. DeWoody joined Seneca United Methodist Church on April 12, 1925, and has been a member for 84 years. She was active in the church and taught Sunday School there for many years. Mrs. DeWoody was a homemaker and was devoted to her family and friends. She enjoyed baking, cooking and canning. Mrs. DeWoody is survived by two daughters, Carolyn A. Rottman and her husband, Carl, of Petrolia, and Kay E. Kehm and her husband, Kenneth, of Georgetown, Pa.; four grandchildren, Renee Rottman of Petrolia, Brian Rottman of Petrolia, Lisa Brodmerkel and her husband, Donnie, of Georgetown, Pa., and Aaron Kehm of Coraopolis; one great-grandchild, Cameron Brodmerkel; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. DeWoody was preceded in death by a sister, Freeda Stover; her twin brother, Carl Bell; and another brother, Eugene Bell. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Hile-Best Funeral Home Inc., 2781 Route 257 in Seneca. Funeral services will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert H. Wilson, pastor of Seneca United Methodist Church, officiating. Herron, 58, of New Windsor, N.Y., formerly of Oil City, entered into rest Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh Campus, N.Y. Born July 10, 1950, in Oil City, he was the son of Betty Fasenmyer Snyder and the late Robert Herron. He was married July 19, 1986, in Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh, N.Y., to the former Debbie Villafane, who survives at home. Mr. Herron was a route driver for Four Seasons Vending in Montgomery, N.Y. In addition to his loving wife of 22 years, Debbie, Mr. Herron is survived by his mother, Betty Snyder of Oil City; one sister, Debbie Haley and her husband, Terry, of Butler; a brother-in-law, George Spain of Ohio; nieces and nephews Kelly, Christopher, Sherry and Julie; great-nieces and nephews Caleb, James, Mackinzie and Gabrielle; and best friends William and Candace Good of Bloomingburg, N.Y. Mr. Herron was predeceased by his sister, Margie Spain. Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, N.Y. Born March 26, 1931, in Franklin, she was the daughter of Hugh Powell and Mildred Lawson-Jones. She was married Dec. 14, 1956, to Edgar Kenneth Mong, who preceded her in death in October 2000. Mrs. Mong was a retired co-owner of Ken's Carpet Cleaning that she ran with her husband for more than 30 years. She also worked at Arnold Manifold. She enjoyed reading, listening to music and spending time with her family. She also helped out at Mong's Greenhouse. Mrs. Mong is survived by three children, Dana K. Mong and his wife, Tammy, of Franklin, Tommy J. Mong and his wife, Sally, of Franklin, and Tammy S. Haylett and her husband, Lawrence, of Franklin; 10 grandchildren, DeWane K. Mong of Warren, Kevin J. Mong and his wife, Rene, of Titusville, Amber A. Guiste and her husband, David, of Franklin, and Randy J. Mong, Ashley M. Flinspach, Karen S. Mong, Laura L. Haylett, Dean A. Mong, Kenneth R. Mong and Christy S. Mong, all of Franklin; and 10 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Mong is also survived by two sisters, Mae Michaels of Franklin and Janet Crawford and her husband, Clarence, of Guys Mills; a brother, Leroy Jones of Pennsylvania; two sisters-in-law, Mabel Mong of Franklin and Mary Green of Erie; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Mong was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Green; and an infant son, Wayne Mong. Online condolences may be sent at www.gardinierfuneralhome.com. Dale LaRue Moore, 59, of 156 Wayne St, Oil City, died at 6:18 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh. Born Feb. 9, 1949, in Oil City, he was a son of Claude E. and Genevieve V. Stahlman Moore. Mr. Moore was a graduate of Oil City High School. On June 14, 1975, he married the former Becky L. Frantz, who survives. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Moore attended the Oil City First Church of God. He was a lifelong believer with an unwavering faith in the Lord. Mr. Moore was an avid outdoorsman and he loved working with kids, especially in the outdoors. He also loved to stock trout and was a co-chairman for the annual Oil Heritage Festival fishing derby. He worked many years at Oilwell and spent the last 20 years at Hodge Foundry in Greenville. Mr. Moore loved his children and grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Mr. Moore is survived by two sons, Michael A. Moore of Oil City and Bradley A. Moore and his wife, Kristy, of Oil City; four grandchildren, Cody Moore, Althea Moore, Jasmine Moore and Jade Moore; his father, Claude Moore of Oil City; and five siblings, Karen Reed and her husband, James, of Lawton Okla., Bob Moore of Reno, Dan Moore of Oil City, Gary Moore and his wife, Lori, of Oil City, and Debbie Nicols of Spotsylvania, Va. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Dick Frantz of Franklin; brothers and sisters-in-law Debbie Covington of Sugarcreek, Rick Frantz of Franklin, Ray Frantz and his wife, Kathy, of Greenville, and Pam Barnes and her husband, Chuck, of Oil City; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his mother, Genevieve "Bird" Moore; his mother-in-law, Patricia "Patt" Frantz; and one grandchild. Morgan, 85, of 436 Sugarcreek Drive, Franklin, died at 1:50 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at UPMC Northwest. Born April 8, 1923, in Argentine, Butler County, he was the son of Albert Morgan and Amanda Young. He was married Jan. 18, 1957, to the former Marie A. Schoen, who preceded him in death Feb. 3, 2002. Mr. Morgan was a retired steel worker from Franklin Steel. He had previously worked at the Amalie Refinery. He was a U.S. Army veteran from 1943 to 1946, and he served in World War II. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Service Medal and an Asian-Pacific Theater Service Victory Medal. Mr. Morgan attended Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Franklin. He was an avid hunter, and he enjoyed gardening and spending time on his front porch waving to friends and neighbors. He also had a beloved dog named Bud. Mr. Morgan spent the last two months at Sugar Creek Station healing from a broken leg. Mr. Morgan is survived by two sons, David Morgan of Pittsburgh and Joseph Morgan and his wife, Wendy, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a daughter, Jean Marie Morgan of Franklin; and a grandchild, Joseph Morgan Jr. of Franklin. Mr. Morgan was preceded in death by his parents and wife. He was the last surviving member of the Morgan family, and he was one of nine children. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Gardinier Funeral Home Inc. in Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Scott Woodlee of Christian Missionary Alliance Church of Franklin officiating. Interment will be in North Washington Union Cemetery, Butler County. Melvin H. Ward services set Funeral arrangements are complete for Melvin H. Ward, 86, of Oil City, who died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, at Soldiers and Sailors Home in Erie.
