Hartle, Fairview, Butler County Sherrie Jackson Lecuyer, Clarington Jeanne C. Lynch, 4 Glenwood Drive, Oil City Charlene McWilliams, Tionesta Viola M. Waugaman, The Caring Place, Franklin, formerly of 674 Grant St., Franklin Shirley J. Weaver, Knox Dorothy E. Baker, 87, a well-known, lifelong resident of Franklin, died peacefully Friday afternoon, Feb. 20, 2009, at Sugar Creek Station following an extended illness. Born Feb. 6, 1922, in Franklin, she was a beloved daughter of the late James and Pearl Furey Shull. She was married Feb. 9, 1942, to Wayne L. Baker, who preceded her in death April 18, 2003. She was of the Protestant faith. Mrs. Baker worked for a number of years as a cashier at the former A&P grocery atore in Franklin. She will best be remembered though in helping her husband, Wayne, with the day-to-day operations of their business, Wayne's Meat Market, formerly located on Liberty Street in Franklin. Mrs. Baker enjoyed shopping, traveling with her husband and spending time with her family, most especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Baker is survived by two daughters, Patricia A. O'Polka and her husband, Michael, of Franklin, and Beverly J. Orseno and her husband, Paul, of Franklin; and seven grandchildren, Michael O'Polka of Franklin, James O'Polka and his wife, Stefanie, of Monkton, Md., Natalie Roe and her husband, David, of Santa Clarita, Calif., Matthew Orseno and his wife, Kimberly, of Tarentum, Bradley Orseno of Columbus, Ohio, Stephanie Biewend and her husband, Jean-Marc, of Altamonte Springs, Fla., and Douglas Orseno of Cheswick. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Michael J. O'Polka II, Owen O'Polka, Carter O'Polka, Spencer O'Polka, Theodore Biewend, Seth Biewend, Clayton Roe, Jacob Orseno and Jillian Orseno; two sisters, Carla Haney of Franklin and Phyllis Lepley and her husband, William, of Franklin; three brothers, Herbert Shull and his wife, Lucy, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Richard Shull and his wife, Mary, of Oil City, and Homer Shull of Florida; and a sister-in-law, Marie Shull of Delaware. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert Shull, James Shull, Alfred Shull and Elson Shull; and four sisters, Charlotte Chapin, Ella Cotterman, Betty Shoffstall and Mildred Kugler. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Timothy E. Hartle Funeral Home, 1328 Elk St., Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home with the Rev. Susan Evans, Venango County VNA Hospice chaplain, officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens, Cranberry Township. Ralph David Bertram, 75, of East Brady, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at his home. Born July 1, 1933, in Greenville, he was the son of Ralph H. and Delma F. Myers Bertram. Mr. Bertram was married in 1961 to the former Ethel F. Fuller, who survives. He was a 1951 graduate of Cambridge Springs High School and a 1955 graduate of Edinboro State College. Mr. Bertram worked for 30 years as an art teacher at the East Brady Elementary and High School. He was a member of Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in East Brady, where he taught Bible studies. Mr. Bertram enjoyed Bible study, woodworking and sharing time with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Mr. Bertram is survived by two daughters, Janet Saitherwaite of Indianapolis, Ind., and Sally Saunders and her husband, Thomas, of Tucson, Ariz.; a son, Scott Bertram and his wife, Danielle, of Connoquenessing; a brother, Donald Bertram of Jacksonville, Fla.; and eight grandchildren, Josh Saitherwaite, Erika Saitherwaite, Andrew Saitherwaite, Ben Saitherwaite, Jake Saunders, Zach Saunders, Skye Bertram and Natalya Bertram. Barbara Ann Brown VanDyke Griffin, 82, of O'Hara Township, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at UPMC St. Margaret Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Oct. 2, 1926, in Flint, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Frank Brown and Josephine Jessup. Mrs. Griffin was a resident of O'Hara Township for the past three years. Prior to that, she lived in Tequesta, Fla., Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Meadville and Oil City. She was a social worker who worked for Family and Children's Services, specializing in adoption services. Mrs. Griffin enjoyed golf, gardening and reading. She was a former member of First United Presbyterian Church in Oil City. Mrs. Griffin is survived by a daughter, Patricia VanDyke of La Canada Flintridge, Calif.; a son, Mark W. VanDyke of Erie; five grandchildren, Bryan, Emily, Dylan, Sarah and Samuel; and a brother, James W. Brown of Midland, Texas. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Griffin was preceded in death by two husbands, James W. VanDyke and Donald E. "Jake" Griffin; and a sister, Frances Brown. Funeral arrangements were private. Hartle, 73, of Fairview, Butler County, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot, following a short illness. Born Jan. 9, 1936, in Sligo, he was a son of the late Charles and Emily Ruth Guntrum Hartle. Mr. Hartle graduated from Sligo High School in 1954. He played forward on the the school's basketball team, and in 1954 the team finished with an 18-5 record and won the state championship. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1953-1961. Mr. Hartle was first employed by Bracken Construction Co. of Sligo and then retired in 1998 from Witco Corp. in Petrolia after 38 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved hunting out west and fishing in New York state for trout. Other pastimes included bingo, watching Penguins hockey, Steelers football, dirt track racing, NASCAR racing, yard work, lottery tickets and sharing coffee with friends. He married the former Kathryn Ann Hoover on April 3, 1959, in Sligo, and she survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Hartle is survived by one son, James Michael Hartle of Fairview; one daughter, Amy Sue Manuel and her husband, Michael L., of West Sunbury; two grandchildren, Brooke Arin Manuel and Adam Michael Manuel of West Sunbury; one brother, Harold (Hod) Hartle and his wife, Maxine, of Sligo; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilbur, Clarence and Levi Hartle; and three sisters, Nora Belle McCamat, Helen McCleary and Shirley Stewart. Mrs. Lecuyer enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. She worked as a licensed practical nurse on session at the Presbyterian Church of Sigel. Mrs. Lecuyer was the proprietor of Clarington Antiques. She was also the manager of Meals on Wheels in East Liberty. Mrs. Lecuyer worked for Consol Coal Co. Renton Mine for six years. She enjoyed horses and trial riding. Mrs. Lecuyer is survived by her husband, Jack "Tim" Lecuyer; a stepdaughter, Sarah Rose Weaver and her husband, Rob; a sister, Judi Jackson and her husband, Jim; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Jackson and Helen Garlow Jackson; and a sister, Lorraine Gibson. Lynch, 85, of 4 Glenwood Drive, Oil City, died at 11:40 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at Select Specialty Hospital in Erie. Born Jan. 31, 1924, in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late John F. Caffrey and Josephine Crahan Caffrey She was married March 29, 1949, to Edward V. "Ted" Lynch, who preceded her in death Feb. 10, 1994. Mrs. Lynch graduated from Oil City High School and Welch's Business College. She had worked for the Oil City Trust Co. before retiring to raise her family. Mrs. Lynch was a member of St. Stephen Church in Oil City and had been a member of the parish council. She had also belonged to the Rosary Society of the church and the former Catholic Daughters of America. In her spare time, Mrs. Lynch enjoyed playing bridge, was an avid reader and enjoyed cross stitch. She was also a member of the Belles Lettres Club and the YWCA. Mrs. Lynch is survived by three children, Patrick J. Lynch and his wife, Christine, of Alpharetta, Ga., Thomas E. Lynch and his wife, Suzanne, of Andover, Mass., and Kathy Lynch of Oil City; four grandchildren, Matthew E. Lynch, Emily G. Lynch, Timothy E. Lynch and Sarah M. Lynch; a sister, Helen Donze of Oil City; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Caffrey of Oil City and Beatrice Caffrey of Gladwin, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews. Born June 4, 1924, in Harrisonburg, Va., she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Gaither. Mrs. McWilliams was married to John C. McWilliams, who preceded her in death in 1997. She worked as a cook at the Knotty Pine Restaurant and for the Taylor Lodge, both of Tionesta. She was also previously employed by Evenflo Crator Manufacturing of Tionesta. Mrs. McWilliams is survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. McWilliams was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Waugaman, 94, a former resident of 674 Grant St., Franklin, most recently of The Caring Place, died peacefully at 7:25 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca following a period of declining health. Born April 18, 1914, in Cowanville, Armstrong County, she was a beloved daughter of the late Lee A. and Mary Ritzert Vasbinder. She was married Sept. 12, 1934, in Indiana, Pa., to Harvey M. "Mort" Waugaman, who preceded her in death Nov. 8, 1985. Prior to her husband 's death, the couple celebrated their 50-year wedding anniversary in 1984. Mrs. Waugaman attended Kittaning area schools and graduated from Kittaning Area High School. For many years, before retiring in 1974, she was employed as a kitchen worker at Polk Center. Mrs. Waugaman was a member of First Baptist Church in Franklin and was a member of the Royal Bible Class of the church. Mrs. Waugaman is survived by two sons, James H. Waugaman and his wife, Phyllis, of Woodstock, Ga., and Daniel L. Waugaman and his wife, Linda, of Franklin; and four grandchildren, Jill Leonard and her husband, Dick of Atlanta, Ga., Matthew Waugaman of Atlanta, Ga., Daniel L. Waugaman Jr. and his fiancee, Brynn, of Erie, and Brian J. Waugaman and his wife, Lisa, of Waterford. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Leslie Leonard and Melissa Leonard, both of Marietta, Ga., and Jacob Waugaman and Riley Waugaman, both of Erie; and a great-great-granddaughter, Jaiden Leonard of Marietta, Ga. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Waugaman was preceded in death by a son, John B. Waugaman on Oct. 4, 1979; and a great-grandson, Grant Leonard. Weaver, 69, of Knox, died early Thursday morning, Feb. 19, 2009, at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh following a sudden illness. Born Oct. 10, 1939, in Knox, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Hazel Grove Best. She married Ronald G. Weaver on July 27, 1957, and he preceded her in death Aug. 20, 1990. Mrs. Weaver graduated from Keystone High School in 1957. She worked for more than 35 years at Industrial Colloids in Emlenton, now known as Fuchs Lubricants. She owned and operated Nooks 'N Crannies and enjoyed antiques and yard sales. Survivors include two sons, Dale Weaver and his wife, Val, of Conneautville, and Dean Weaver and his wife, Kelly, of Knox; four grandchildren, Lacey, Ciara, Nicholas and Sydney; and two sisters, Lois Smith and her husband, Emory, of Emlenton, and Carol Sutton of Knox. Friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the William N. Rupert Mortuary Inc. of Knox. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev.
