Beach, 67, of 106 Maple Lane Drive, Cooperstown, died at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, at UPMC Passavant Hospital in Pittsburgh. The Gardinier Funeral Home in Franklin is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published Friday. Cecelia K. "Kate" Dechant, 84, of Lucinda, died Wednesday morning, Feb. 25, 2009, at her home. Born Dec. 30, 1924, in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late Christopher and Cecelia Denslinger Karg. She was married Oct. 18, 1949, to Edward F. Dechant, who survives. Mrs. Dechant and her husband had owned Dechant Strawberry Farm since 1961. She was a member of St. Joseph Church in Lucinda, and she enjoyed quilting. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Dechant is survived by seven children, Michael Joseph Dechant and his wife, Veronica, of Marienville, Joseph Henry Dechant of Shippenville, Mark Edward Dechant and his wife, Agnes, of Lucinda, Lee Alan Dechant and his wife, Linda, of Lucinda, Bernard Francis Dechant and his wife, Juliann, of Lucinda, Julianna Hockman and her husband, Anthony Lee, of Shippenville, and Genevieve Wright and her husband, Jeffrey M., of Rochester Mills. She is also survived by a brother, Francis "Pete" Karg of Oil City; 11 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dechant was preceded in death by two brothers, James Karg and Bernard Karg; and two sisters, Anna Marie Tobin and Dorothy Singer. Friends and family may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Borland Funeral Home Inc. in Leeper. A vigil service will be held at 3:45 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church in Lucinda with the Rev. William C. Miller, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family suggest memorials be made to Clarion Forest VNA. Shirley J. Evans, 79, of 710 E Third St, Oil City, went to be with her Lord at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at the Transitional Care Unit of UPMC Northwest in Oil City. Born April 2, 1929, in Oil City, she was a daughter of the late Austin R. and Josephine S. Heeter Van Dyke. She was married June 27, 1958, to Kenneth Roy Evans, who preceded her in death March 20, 2001. Mrs. Evans graduated in 1947 from Oil City High School and had been employed by Barr's Insurance and Williams Insurance. Mrs. Evans is survived by a brother, James W. Van Dyke of Oil City; two sisters, Wanda R. Thompson of Moon Township and Mary K. McGregor of Oil City; two nephews, Thomas Thompson of Aliquippa and Terry McGregor of Denver, Colo.; two nieces, Jill Thompson of Aliquippa and Jena Knight of Oil City; and one grand-nephew, Thomas John Kraus of Aliquippa. There will be no viewing at Mrs. Evans' request, and services will be conducted at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Zion Union Cemetery in Emlenton. Helen Mildred Filetti, 84, formerly of Rimersburg, died at 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, in Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center near Sligo. Born Aug. 12, 1924, in Redbank Township, Clarion County, she was the daughter of the late Harry Isaac Raybuck and Pearl Dinger Raybuck. She was first married in 1947 to Charles Henry Huston Jr., who preceded her in death in 1966, and was later married in 1970 to Marion J. Filetti, who preceded her in death in 1993. Mrs. Filetti was a 1942 graduate of New Bethlehem High School. She was a retired homemaker and also worked at Lerch Dress Shop and Herbert's Market in New Bethlehem. Mrs. Filetti was a Protestant and was a member of the Jerusalem United Church of Christ in Rimersburg. Mrs. Filetti is survived by a son, William Huston and his wife, Suzanne, of Duncannon; two step-daughters, Laurie Wilmes of New Castle, and Bette Peoples of Butler; four brothers, Charles Raybuck and his wife, Betty, of New Bethlehem, John Raybuck and his wife, Bernadine, of New Bethlehem, George Raybuck and his wife, Ethel, of New Kensington, and William Raybuck and his wife, Joanne, of Fairmount City; a sister, Mrs. Jennie Hetrick of Fairmount City; a sister-in-law, Jeanne Raybuck of New Bethlehem; and eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, Mrs. Filetti was preceded in death by a brother, Emerson "Jack" Raybuck. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Varner Funeral Home of Rimersburg. Interment will follow in the New Bethlehem Cemetery. First Sgt. William H. Graham, Jr. (retired), 78, of 3226 N. Main Street, Sandy Lake, died at 5:20 a.m. Wednesday Feb. 25, 2009, in Trinity Living Center after a courageous battle with cancer. Born June 30, 1930, in Garden City, N.J., he was a son of the late William H. and Stella A. Polick Graham. He was married May 24, 1952, to the former Donna J. Harrah, who preceded him in death Oct. 5, 2006. Mr. Graham was a retired drill sergeant with the U.S. Army where he served from 1947 to 1970. He served in the Korean War where he received a Silver Star and two Purple Hearts as well as the National Defense Service Medal, two CIB awards, Vietnam Service Medal, Four Good Conduct Awards, Vietnam Commendation Medal and Expert Rifle awards. After retiring from the military he worked at Joy Manufacturing in Franklin and then retired in 1992 from the R. D. Werner Company of Greenville as a maintenance supervisor after 21 years of service. Mr. Graham was of the Protestant faith. He enjoyed camping and traveling to the many different states. After his final retirement Bill spent his winters in Florida where he enjoyed fishing, shrimping, boating, and doing crossword puzzles. He also enjoyed hunting and was an avid Steelers fan. Mr. Graham is survived by two daughters, Terri Kerns and her husband, Curtis O. , of Sandy Lake, and Shelby Clark and her husband, Larry J., of Sterling, Va.; a son, Michael W. Graham and his wife, Marsha, of Stoneboro; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley M. Dickson of Van Nuys, Calif. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Graham was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sherri Rae Kerns; a grandson, Todd R. Kerns; and a sister, Lucy Boggs. Kimes, 67, of 42 Beech St., Stoneboro, died at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, in UPMC, Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh after a short illness. Born in Mercer, he was the son of the late Leland H. and Charlotte Greggs Kimes. He was married April 27, 1962, to Polly Graham, who survives. Mr. Kimes was a 1959 graduate of Lakeview High School. In earlier years, he worked at the Cooper-Bessemer of Grove City and Sharon Westinghouse. He retired in 2004 after 34 years as a welder from Joy Technologies of Franklin. Mr. Kimes was very generous with his time and talent and was always willing to help others. In early years, he was a coach for the Lakeview Knothole League. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He also enjoyed going to hunting camp with his son, brother, nephews and son-in-laws. In addition to his wife, Mr. Kimes is survived by two daughters, Mindy Jennings and her husband, Kevin of Devon, and Kelley Hogan and her husband, Moses of Berwyn; a son, Jeff T. Kimes and his wife, Erica, of Verona Beach, N.Y. ; six grandchildren, Autumn Kimes, Sierra Kimes, Marley Jennings, Nicholas Jennings, Jake Hogan and McKenzie Hogan; a sister, Cathy Burnette and her husband, Robert, of Sandy Lake; and a brother, Robert T. "Whitey" Kimes and his wife, Bev, of Stoneboro. In addition to his parents, Mr. Kimes was preceded in death by a brother, Daryl Kimes. Born Dec. 25, 1934, in Franklin, she was a daughter of Flora Lovella Carson Cutchall and the late Wylie Freeman Cutchall. Mrs. McCune is survived by three children and four siblings.
