Higley, 173 Cherry Run Road, Rouseville Glenn Clinton Lesh, 181 S. Franklin St., Cochranton Karen "Kay" Warner, Bloomsburg, formerly of Oil City Ralph Wilison Whitney, Lucinda Getting it right - Cecelia E. Sandok Jeanne W. Burkhardt, 87, of 3001 US 322, Franklin, went to see her Lord at 4:45 p.m. Sunday Feb. 22, 2009. Born Sept. 28, 1921, in Polk, she was the daughter of the late Earl Williams and Marguerite Temple. She was married June 27, 1942, to Robert O. Burkhardt, who preceded her in death May 10, 1998. Mrs. Burkhardt was a graduate of Franklin High School where she was a member of the string ensemble. Her fondest memories of school were playing second viola at state competition and Lawrence Welk playing for her senior prom. In the early 1960s, she worked as an aide at Polk Center. Mrs. Burkhardt was retired from working as a purchasing agent for CPT. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Franklin where she served on the board of Deacons, Session and taught Sunday school kindergarten for 37 years. She enjoyed her garden and all her flowers, as well as watching the eagles nesting on the late across from the house. Mrs. Burkhardt is survived by three children, Meryln Burkhardt and his wife, Joyce, of Franklin, Dale Burkhardt and his wife, Betty, of Franklin, and Roberta Hudson of Cochranton; three grandchildren, Jackie Burkhardt and her friend, Jen, of Guys Mills, Josh Burkhardt of Franklin, and Coty Burkhardt and his wife, Elizabeth, of Franklin. She is also survived by four step-grandchildren, Paul Hudson and his wife, Janice, of Saegertown, Barry Hudson and his wife, Caprice, of Cochranton, Cliff Fehl of Bulter, and Johnathan Fehl of Butler; eight great-grandchildren, Jake Burkhardt of Franklin, Elizabeth Jean Burkhardt of Franklin, TessaRae Burkhardt of Franklin, Kyle Hudson of Saegertown, Kayla Hudson of Saegertown, Matthew Hudson of Saegertown, Jordan Hudson of Cochranton, and Spencer Ransom of Guys Mills; and several cousins. Mrs. Burkhardt was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Gardinier Funeral Home in Franklin and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Franklin. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Samuel Gibb, of the church, assisted by the Rev. Charles H. McClung, of Lake City Presbyterian Church of Erie, officiating. Interment will be in Old Sandy Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Franklin of Venango County Humane Society. Online condolences may be sent to www.gardinierfuneralhome.com. Cornelia "Connie Yanak Delaney, 67, of 275 Pioneer Rd., Franklin, died Sunday Feb. 22, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born Nov. 1, 1941, in Sharon, Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Cornelia Meszaros Selenchik. She was married Sept. 27, 1983, to Richard J. Delaney Jr., her loving husband and best friend, who survives. She was previously married to Emery Yanak, who preceded her in death in 1997. Mrs. Delaney worked at National City Bank in Franklin for many years and was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. While working, she was involved with fundraising for March of Dimes, cancer Relay for Life, and bowling for Big Brothers Big Sisters. She loved the outdoors, walking and her flowers. She enjoyed every moment she got to spend with her family and friends. Mrs. Delaney is survived by two sons, Richard Yanak and his wife, Karen, of West Middlesex, and Timothy Yanak and his wife, Lisa, of Hermitage; two step-children, Tammy Duell and her husband, Bill, of Volant, and Buck Delaney of Volant. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Clayton Yanak, Bradley Yanak, Tyler Yanak and Nicholle Yanak, all of Hermitage; and three step-grandchildren, Dennis Swogger and his wife, Traci, of West Middlesex, and Ariana Duell and Billy Duell, both of Volant. She is survived by three siblings, Ethel Foltz and her husband, Ted, of West Middlesex, Joseph Selenchik and his wife, Annette, of Hermitage, and Mary Burke and her husband, David, of Sharpsville; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbors. She was blessed to be surrounded by so many wonderful people with their encouragement and prayers. The family will received friends and relatives from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Gardinier Funeral Home and from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Good Shepherd Church, West Middlesex. A Christian wake service will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the church with Monsignor Robert Malene as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Holy Trinity Church in Farrell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to any organizations listed above or to the Howard Kirtland Cancer Foundation, P.O. Higley, 63, of 173 Cherry Run Road, Rouseville, died at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at his residence. Born May 23, 1945, in Oil City, he was a son of the late Alfred D. and M. Evelyn Foster Higley. He was married Oct. 20, 2004, to Janet Perry, who survives. Mr. Higley served in the U.S. Air Force from 1964 to 1966. He worked as a teletype operator for Western Union then for Tobey's for more than 24 years. Mr. Higley was a member of Heckathorn United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, Mr. Higley is survived by a stepson, Justin Perry of Seneca; and two cousins, Rob Asel of Oil City and Rita Courson of Seneca. Friends may call from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Morrison Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Pat Ellis, pastor of Heckathorn United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens. Glenn Clinton Lesh, 88, of 181 S. Franklin St. Cochranton, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at Forbes Hospice, Pittsburgh, following a battle with cancer for six and a half years. Born, June 27, 1920, in Cooperstown, he was the son of Clint and Lois Brown Lesh. He was married May 9, 1942, to the former Martha Ann Baird, who preceded him in death on Jan. 28, 2007. He was a 1938 graduate of Cochranton High School and completed a tool and die apprenticeship in Chicago, Ill. Mr. Lesh entered into the U.S. Navy during World War II and served with the 69th Seabees. After returning from the war, he was a tool and die maker at the H.L. Moore Company in Cochranton for 45 years. Mr. Lesh was a member of the Cochranton Presbyterian Church, James L. Stein American Legion Post #836, Cochranton Masonic Lodge #790, and volunteered at the Meadville Soup Kitchen. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather,brother and uncle. Family was his number one priority in his life, followed by gardening, woodworking, baking cakes for the legion dinners held each month, and washing dishes for the soup kitchen. Mr. Lesh is survived by three daughters, Mary Ketner and her husband, Michael, of Pittsburgh, Ann Raggio of Lake Forest, Calif., and Peggy Koontz of Medina, Ohio; two sisters, Twila Smock and her husband, Glen of Cochranton, and Norma McCarl of State College. Mr. Lesh's legacy will live on through his two grandchildren, Jeb Koontz and his wife, Tracy of Medina, Ohio, and Molly Roark and her husband, John, of Mt. Morris, Mich; two 2 great grandchildren, Christian Kirk and Liam Koontz; and an expected great grandchild, Hudson Glenn Koontz to be born in April. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by, four sisters, Mildred Deeter, Margaret Beers, Ruth Guiney and Loretta Spence; a brother, Wayne Lesh; and a son-in-law, Robert Raggio. There are no calling hours or funeral service presently planned. A memorial service for Mr. Lesh will be held May 9 at the Cochranton Presbyterian Church with the Rev. J. Harvey Boal of the church, officiating. The family ask that memorials be made to the Cochranton Public Library, 107 Pine St. Cochranton, 16314, or to the Forbes Hospice, 115 S. Neville St. Pittsburgh, 15213. Karen "Kay" Warner, 61, of Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg, passed over Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, of a sudden illness. Born Oct. 28, 1947, in Oil City, she was a daughter of the late William Warner Sr. and Mary Amsdell Warner. She attended Townville schools and received her GED in 1979. She waitressed many years. Ms. Warner worked with Hospice and the Muscular Dystrophy Association for many years. She also was a dispatcher for the Oil City Police Department and worked as a guard for the Venango County Sheriff's Department. She was a very spiritual person as well as a beautiful singer and was proud to have made several CDs. She was very loved and will be missed. Ms. Warner is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Galmish of Guys Mills; a son, Gregory Tidd of Bloomsburg; and three grandchildren, Brandon Tidd, Dustin Royer and Zoey Tidd and her companion, James Pollack. She is also survived by three brothers, John "Bud" Warner, Richard "Dick" Warner and James "Jimmy" Warner; two sisters, Pamela Tidd and Patricia Daughtery; an aunt, Winnie Radabaugh of Oil City; an uncle, John Amsdell of Oil City; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ms. Warner was preceded in death by two brothers, William Warner Jr. and Douglas Warner; and a grandson, Aiden Christopher Wasson. Contributions in her memory can be made to Hospice or the Muscular Dystrophy Association. A service and dinner will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at Cochranton United Methodist Church, 114 E. Adams St., Cochranton, across from the fire station. Ralph Wilison Whitney, 79, of Lucinda, died at 3:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2009 in the transitional care unit of UPMC Northwest. A complete obituary will be published Wednesday in the Derrick. Getting it right - Cecelia E. Sandok Cecelia E. Sandok, 91, of 310 11th St., Franklin, died at 8:27 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at her residence. Mrs. Sandok was preceded in death by a son, Paul L. Sandok.
