The Derrick, December 24, 2008: Elva Crowley, Oil City Kaye Snyder, Snyder Road, Clarion Willard L. Warner, 421 Fairview Road, Titusville Elva Crowley, age 77, of Oil City, died Tuesday afternoon, December 23, 2008, in UPMC Northwest Medical Center, Seneca, following an illness. The Hile-Best Funeral Home, Inc. in Seneca, Cranberry Township is handling funeral arrangements. Kaye Snyder, 88, of Snyder Road, Clarion, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, at UPMC Passavant hospital in Pittsburgh. Born Sept. 26, 1920, in Manchester, England, she was the daughter of the late Deborah and Jack Redler. Mrs. Snyder graduated from the Royal Technical College in Salford and became a textile designer. In her younger days she was a prima ballerina. She worked as a translator during World War II, where she met John J. Snyder, who was a sergeant major in the U.S. Army. They married, and he preceded her in death on August 27, 1982. Mrs. Snyder and her husband moved to Clarion after they were married and lived on a farm. After her husband passed, Mrs. Snyder became a volunteer at the Clarion Hospital. She volunteered for more than 20 years. Her favorite pastime was reading mysteries. Mrs. Snyder is survived by four sons, Michael Snyder of Wilton Manors, Fla., Richard Snyder of Strattanville, Greg Snyder of Corisca and Ron Snyder of Cranberry Township; and one daughter, Lynda Michaels of Wilton Manors, Fla. She is the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren, Kristin, Shannon, Joseph, Jeremy, Justin, Shane and Lexi. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Snyder was preceded in death by a son, Peter Snyder, and a sister, Freda Green. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. today and from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood St., Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. James Dietrich officiating. Interments will be in Clarion Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Clarion Hospital. Online condolences may be sent to www.goblefh.net. Willard L. Warner, 86, of 421 Fairview Road, Titusville, died at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at St. Vincent Health Center in Erie. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 N. Washington St., Titusville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Breedtown Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Kinnear officiating. Interment will be in the Breedtown Cemetery.
