Hughes, formerly of Oil City Mildred Perry, Oil City Earla Mae "Dutch" Shields, Marienville Ronald E. "Boo" Weaver, Porter Township, New Bethlehem Patricia Reinsel Mass set Saturday Delores J. "Dolly" Arthur, 78, of McAlester, Okla., formerly of Oil City, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla. Born July 14, 1930, in Ambridge, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Ida Guziak Lesiak. She was married Feb. 1, 1949, in Maryland to Arnold Arthur, who preceded her in death in 1985. The coupled lived in Oil City for several years before moving to McAlester, Okla., in 1982. Mrs. Arthur was a homemaker and a member and deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of McAlester, where she enjoyed helping with the annual church bazaar. She also enjoyed bowling. Mrs. Arthur is survived by two sons, Arnold S. Arthur and Dennis J. Arthur, both of McAlester, Okla.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debi Huff and her husband, Charlie, of Cranberry, and Gail Evans and her husband, Steve, of Nixa, Mo.; five grandchildren, Justin Huff and his wife, Heather, of Cranberry, Jodi Huff of Cranberry, and Brianna, Donavan and Kyleah Evans of Nixa, Mo.; two great-grandchildren, Lexi and Jacob Huff; and one brother, Sigmund Lesiak of Naples, Fla. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Arthur was preceded in death by one brother. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Bishop Funeral Home, McAlester, Okla. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Bishop Chapel of Memories in Oklahoma with the Rev. Tom Murray officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens in Cranberry under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service. The family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 1653, Topeka, Kan., 66601. Henrietta E. Blum, 100, of 105 South Main St., Seneca, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at the Oil City Presbyterian Home, where she had been a patient since January 2008. Born April 20, 1908, in Oil City, she was the daughter of Charles and Bertha Waslohn Neubauer. Mrs. Blum graduated in 1926 from Oil City Senior High School, where she was active in the school chorus and was a starter on the varsity girls basketball team. She was the last surviving member of her graduating class. After graduation she first worked as a secretary for the Joseph Reid Gas Engine Co. in Oil City, then she worked in the office of Seeps Store before going to work for the Blizzard newspaper. Mrs. Blum returned to work as a proofreader after raising her two children, then she later worked in the circulation department for The Derrick until her retirement. Mrs. Blum was a lifelong member at Good Hope Lutheran Church, where she was active in the senior choir, led the junior choir, taught Sunday school and served on several committees, including evangelism and the parish education committee. She belonged to the Martha Circle at the church. Mrs. Blum also sang at other Oil City churches, played piano and was an active member of the Schubert Club. She was married Sept. 11, 1937, at Good Hope Lutheran Church to Philip E. Blum, who preceded her in death March 26, 1999. Mrs. Blum is survived by two children, Lois M. Kreye and her husband, Dr. George Kreye, of Littleton, Colo., and James P. Blum and his wife, Virginia, of Seneca; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, of whom she was very proud; and 23 nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her golden retriever Bailey, who visited her while she was in the Presbyterian Home. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur Neubauer and Carl Neubauer; and six sisters, Bertha Wilson, Elizabeth Dale, Margaret Greenburg, Emma Maunsell, Anna Lawler and Ruth Lauffer. Her family will receive friends and relatives from noon to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Morrison Funeral Home in Oil City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Good Hope Lutheran Church with the Rev. Philip Scherr officiating. Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Good Hope Lutheran Church or the Oil City Presbyterian Home. Susan Louise Chapin, 90, formerly of Carlton and Utica, died Wednesday , Dec. 10, 2008, at the Crawford County Care Center in Saegertown. Born March 4, 1918, in Franklin, she was the daughter of Lee Roy and Ada Byrd Rice. She was married Nov. 2, 1940, to Howard G. Chapin, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Chapin was a 1936 graduate of Cochranton High School. She worked from 1937 to 1940 at the River Ridge Estate in Franklin, and from 1968 to 1972 she was the assistant house mother at the Meadville School of Nursing. Mrs. Chapin and her husband also operated a farm in Carlton and Utica. She was of the Protestant faith, she was active in various senior groups in Meadville, and she volunteered for several agencies. Mrs. Chapin is survived by one daughter, Sandra L. Yeager and her husband, the Rev. Lloyd S. Yeager, of Pine Grove; one son, Ronald H. Chapin of Meadville; two sisters, Virginia Stevens of Saegertown and Nancy Wright and her husband, Lester, of Cochranton; and two brothers, Donald G. Rice of North East and Charles F. Rice of Utica. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Samuel Chapin of Allentown, Lisa Lashley of York, Daniel Chapin of Baltimore, Md., and Ronald H. Chapin of Meadville; and four great-grandchildren, Chad and Chase Chapin and Alexis and Jordan Lashley. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Chapin was preceded in death by two brothers, Lee Roy Rice and Gilbert G. Rice. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Dickson Funeral Home Inc., 123 S. Franklin St., Cochranton. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Samuel Chapin, Mrs. Chapin's grandson, officiating. Interment will be in Peters Cemetery, Canal Township, Venango County. Frank A. Fleming, 85, of 9 Crestview Drive, Franklin, died at 9:05 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born April 19, 1923, in Franklin, he was the son of Edward and Beatrice Kendrick Fleming. Mr. Fleming attended the Franklin public schools. Mr. Fleming owned and operated Frank's Save-On in Franklin for many years. He was a member of the Franklin Moose Lodge. Mr. Fleming was a NASCAR enthusiast. He is survived by two nieces, Vicki Nicklin of Franklin and Sharon Reeves of Wallaceville; one nephew, Richard Schiffer II of Seneca; and three cousins, Byron Kendrick and Frank Kendrick, both of Franklin, and Mary Jane Weathers of Greenville. Mr. Fleming was preceded in death by one brother, Edward E. "Bob" Fleming; three sisters, Ruth Barron, Wanda Schiffer and Betty Reeves; one niece, Valerie Vernier; and one nephew, Kevin Reeves. There will be no public visitation or services. Private interment will be made in Old Sandy Cemetery. The Huff Chapel in Franklin is in charge of arrangements. David D. Gibson, 59, of Clintonville, passed away Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at his home of natural causes. Born Dec. 7, 1949, in Grove City, he was the son of William "DeLoss" Gibson and Thelma Moore Gibson. Mr. Gibson graduated from Franklin High School. He was a self employed carpenter working in the Clintonville and surrounding area. Mr. Gibson was a member of East Unity Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed reading and spending time with his daughter and family and friends. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Mr. Gibson is survived by a daughter, Justice V. Gibson of Carmel, Ind.; six cousins, Joe Gibson and his wife, Betsy, of Parker, Fae Gibson, Steve Gibson of Parker, Brenda Hillard, Carl Hillard and Dee Hillard; an aunt, Alicia Moore; and many close friends. Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by his parents and an aunt and uncle, Bob and Esther Moore. The family will hold a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville, with the Rev. Jeff Wiles, an Episcopalian guest speaker, officiating. Interment will take place at East Unity Cemetery. Graham, 78, of Campbell Avenue, Emlenton, died early Thursday morning, Dec. 11, 2008, at her residence following an illness. Born Feb, 18, 1930, in Elk City, Clarion County, she was the daughter of Lawrence A. and Vera Hanst Johnston. Mrs. Graham was married Aug. 28, 1982, to Richard B. "Dick" Graham, who preceded her in death June 15, 2007. She was a graduate of Shippenville High School. She had been employed in retail banking as a loan officer for a number of years. Mrs. Graham enjoyed watching "C.S.I." and "Law and Order" and was an avid golfer, having been a member of the Foxburg County Club. She and her late husband enjoyed traveling and spent winters in Tucson, Ariz. Mrs. Graham is survived by two children, Cindi Seger and her husband, Fred, of Tucson, Ariz., and Brad Servey and his wife, Jennifer, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one grandson, Patrick Servey of Lexington, N.C.; one sister, Mrs. Carole (Phil) Barrett of Elk City; two stepchildren, Kathleen Wilson and her husband, Don, of Camp Hill, and Steven Graham and his wife, Ruth, of Pittsburgh; one step-grandson, Christopher Graham of Pittsburgh; one brother-in-law, Ralph Hartle of Jordon, N.Y.; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Graham was preceded in death by one daughter, Lana Servey; and one sister, Yvonne Hartle. Hughes, 91, formerly of Oil City, died at 3:50 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at The Caring Place in Franklin. Born Jan. 2, 1917, in Mahoning, she was a daughter of the late Neil and Ethel Walker Helm. Mrs. Hughes was married to Kenneth Hughes, who preceded her in death. She is survived by a son, James Hughes and his wife, Sharon; two grandsons, Bradley Hughes and Dan Hughes; a granddaughter, Frances Hughes and a sister, Shirley Morrow. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Oakland United Methodist Church with the Rev., Richard Roberts, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Lamey Cemetery. Mildred Perry, 81, of Oil City, died late Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at the Golden Living Center in Shippenville. Earla Mae "Dutch" Shields, 91, died suddenly Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, in the Butler Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Shields was a life-long resident of Marienville and recently made her home at Angert's Touch of Country Personal Care Home in Butler. She was born April 22, 1917, the daughter of the late Howard Gray and Ella Pearl Sheeley. Mrs. Shields graduated valedictorian in 1935 from Jenks Township High School. She was married Oct. 21, 1938, in Eldred to David F. Shields who preceded her in death in October 1982. In her early years Mrs. Shields was employed at the Marienville Express. Later she owned the Merry Mae Gift Shoppe and she retired from the United States Post Office. Mrs. Shields was a member of the Marienville United Methodist Church where she taught small children in Sunday school for many years. She was a member of the adult Sunday school class and was Sunday school superintendent. Mrs. Sheilds was a member of the Forest Chapter #482 Order of Eastern Star for more than 50 years and later Sylvania Chapter #102 of Tionesta . She was also an active member of the Marienville senior citizens. Mrs. Shields enjoyed knitting, reading and spending time with her family. Mrs. Shields is survived by three children, Donna J. Snyder of Marienville; David R. Shields and his wife, Linda, of Hopewell, Ohio; and Diane L. McClellan and her husband, Pat, of Butler. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Buster, Kelly and Joe Snyder; Becky Gore; Rich, Ryan and Rob McClellan; Tonya Morrison; Wendy Roush and Jody Shields. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Shields was preceded in death by two brothers, Max Sheeley and Edwin "Deed" Sheeley; a sister, Helen McMullen; a son-in-law, Bill Snyder; and a close sister-in-law, Laura Belle Gesin. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Ronald McDonald Funeral Home in Marienville. Friends will also be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Marienville United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m Saturday at the church with the Rev. Daniel Richter, pastor, officiating. There will be an Eastern Star service Friday evening in the funeral home. Interment will be in North Forest Cemetery, Marienville. The family suggest memorials be made to the Marienville United Methodist Church - Kitchen Fund or to the Marienville Area Library. Ronald E. "Boo" Weaver, 86, of Porter Township, New Bethlehem, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at the Clarion Hospital. Born Jan. 29, 1922, in Porter Township, Clarion County, he was the son of the late Emma Fox Weaver. Mr. Weaver was married Dec. 8, 1945, to David Wade Weaver and Lenora A. Reitz Weaver who preceded him in death on March 27, 2000. Mr. Weaver was affiliated with the Oakwood Presbyterian Church. He was a member of New Bethlehem Lodge #522 and New Castle Consistory. Mr. Weaver worked for construction and various coal companies, operating heavy equipment. He was also part owner of W & M Coal Co. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting rabbits with his beagles. Mr. Weaver is survived by two sons, Kenneth Weaver and his wife, Pat, of New Bethlehem; and Robert Weaver and his wife, Patty, of New Bethlehem; three daughters, Karen Minich and her husband, Lee, of Fairmount City; Janice Welsh and her husband, Larry, of LaPorte, Ind.; and Rhonda Henry and her husband, Bob, of Fairmount City; and 12 grandchildren and four great-grandsons. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Weaver was preceded in death by a grandson, Kevin Weaver; three brothers, David Weaver, Tad Weaver and John Weaver; and a sister, Clare Mills. Mr. Weaver was the last of his immediate family. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn with Pastor Robert Moore officiating. Interment will be at Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville. Patricia Reinsel Mass set Saturday A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church in Oil City for Patricia A. Reinsel, 74, formerly of 118 Bissell Ave., Oil City. She died unexpectedly Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at her home in the village of President. The Reinsel Funeral Home in Oil City is handling arrangements.
