    3. The Derrick, Tuesday, November 9, 2004: Richard E. "Dick" Martin, 118 Hillcrest Ave., Polk Christopher B. O'Brien, 1212 Chestnut St., Franklin David A. Tingen, Polk Center Richard E. "Dick" Martin Richard E. "Dick" Martin, 74, of 118 Hillcrest Ave., Polk, died early Sunday morning, Nov. 7, 2004, at his home. Born July 12, 1930, in Oil City, he was the son of Richard and Edna Dunham Martin. Mr. Martin had been employed for 45 years as s truck driver and was retired from Klapec Trucking Co. He was of the Methodist faith. Mr. Martin enjoyed NASCAR racing and was an avid baseball fan. He was married April 30, 1965, to the former Donna Disque Sutley, who survives. Also surviving are three children, Eugenia Perry and husband, Rex, of Shippenville, Cheryl McMurdy and husband, Paul, of Pittsburgh and Thomas Sutley of Union City, Calif.; five grandchildren, Jason and Daniel Perry of Shippenville, Melissa Shaffer and husband, Marc, of Landsville, Keith McMurdy and wife, Michelle, of Manhattan, N.Y., and Kenneth McMurdy and wife, Lara, of Terre Haute, Ind.; and four great-grandchildren. He also is survived by two brothers and their wives, James and Linda Martin of Apple Valley, Calif., and Merle and Martha Martin of El Paso, Texas; and three sisters, Judy Stout of Apple Valley, Calif., Mary Lopez of Utah and Joyce Dumot of Massachusetts. In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his stepfather, John Moore; and a sister, Helen Gilbert. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with the Rev. Paul McMurdy, his son-in-law, officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 3524 W. 26th St., Erie, 16506. Christopher B. O'Brien Christopher B. O'Brien, 89, of 1212 Chestnut St., Franklin, died at 10:10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, in Sugar Creek Station, Franklin. Born Dec. 22, 1914, in Tajique, N.M., she was the daughter of Robert J. and Money Penny Murphy. Mrs. O'Brien retired as a teacher in New Mexico and also worked as a secretary. She was a member of St. John Episcopal Church, Franklin. Mrs. O'Brien was married March 13, 1958, to Paul O'Brien, who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. John Episcopal Church. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens. The Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. David A. Tingen David A. Tingen, 43, a resident of Polk Center since September 1967, died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born Aug. 2, 1961, in Meadville, he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Edna M. Riemann Tingen. He attended the Polk Center Chapel. Mr. Tingen enjoyed various activities at Polk Center including listening to music, interacting with friends, walks outside, swimming and eating ice cream and chocolate bars. He also enjoyed various outings in the community. Surviving are three sisters, Patricia Price and Vivian Brawley, both of Meadville, and Peggy White of Cody, Wyo.; one brother, Douglas Tingen of Lititz; two nieces; three nephews; two great-nieces; and one great-nephew. A memorial service will be held at 2:45 p.m. Friday in Meadowside Cottage at Polk Center with Cynthia Hill officiating.
