O'Neil, 323 Causeway Drive, Franklin Richard L. Pae, Lincoln Court, Shippenville Rae-Kathryn Lawson Penix, Detroit, Mich., formerly of Oil City Ellwood "Woody" K. Rhoads, 5 Woodbine Drive, Greenville David Clyde Newell, services changed Alberta M. Berlin Alberta M. Berlin, 77, of Erie, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2004. Born in Rockland Township on March 28, 1927, she was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth King Champion. Mrs. Berlin was a homemaker. She enjoyed hiking, kayaking, the outdoors, playing cards, gardening and baking. Mrs. Berlin was the wife of 56 years to Kenneth L. Berlin, who survives. She is also survived by a son, Thomas Berlin and his wife, Becky, of Valley Chapel, W.Va.; three daughters, Susan K. Liebau and her husband, Herman, of Milcreek, Cathy Beeman and her husband, Ebert, of Waterford and Linda McGarvey and her husband, Keith, of Millcreek; nine grandchildren; one great granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Campbell, and five brothers, Walter, Fred, James, John and Charles Champion. Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road, Erie. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Further viewing will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Hile Funeral Home, 1204 Kent Ave., Emlenton. Interment will be in the Emlenton Cemetery. Kistler Carbaugh Mildred C. Kistler Carbaugh, 68, of 6111/2 East Second St., Oil City, formerly of New York and Brunswick, Ga., died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004 at her residence. Born July 7, 1936 in McKeesport, she was the daughter of Howard A. and Lowanda Silvis Kistler. Mrs. Carbaugh lived in the area since 1961. She was employed as a cook and waitress for many years. She enjoyed gardening and she loved her grandchildren. Mrs. Carbaugh was married to Glenn Carbaugh. They were divorced. Surviving are two sons, James Carbaugh of Butler and John Carbaugh of Oil City, and six daughters, Judy Dosch of Cherrytree, Georgia Carbaugh of Oil City, Janet Waters and her husband, David, of Oil City, Jill Roberts and her husband, Duane, of Kennerdell, Denise Wadsworth and her husband, Jim, of Oil City and Lisa Birchard and her fiance, Dennis Bunnell, of Rouseville. Also surviving are three brothers, Howard Kistler and his wife, Fern, of Pleasantville, Donald Kistler and his wife, Mary, of Galloway and Bill Boyd and his wife, Bonnie, of Reno; two sisters, Shirley Wells of Tionesta and Peggy Diller of Stubenville, Ohio; three step-sisters, Jean Cochran of Oil City, Jane Cooper of Cooperstown and Rose Vandervort of Newmansville; 25 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son-in-law, Keith Dosch. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Faller Funeral Home, Inc. in Fryburg. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Kightlinger, pastor of the United Evangelical Church in Venus, officiating. Russell Eugene Clark, Sr. Russell Eugene Clark, Sr., 76, of Lawrence Park, formerly of Harborcreek Township, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2004. Born April 28, 1928 in West Monterery, he was the son of the late Delmar and Mabel Fair Clark. Mr. Clark was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Harborcreek Township after 17 years of service. He was a member of Keystone Perry Lodge 392 F&AM, Scottish Rite Consistory Valley of Erie, Erepa Grotto, Siebenbuerger Club, honorary volunteer fireman of Fairfield Hose Company where he had served as treasurer for 30 years and a proud life member of American Legion Post 571. He enjoyed traveling with his wife in their motor home, visiting relatives, spending time with his family, working outside in the yard, working around the house and going to fish fries with his son Russ and friends. Mr. Clark is survived by his wife of 52 years, Verda "Tiny" McDannell Clark; three children, Irene "Renie" Waldron and her husband, Alan, Russell Eugene Clark, Jr. and his wife, Debbie, Robin J. Senger and her husband, Bill, and five grandchildren, Zach, Josh and Jenny Clark and Noah and Carrie Waldron. Also surviving are six brothers, Paul and his wife, Betty, Jack and his wife, Shirley, Edward and his wife, Carole, James and his wife, Shirley, William and his wife, Ellen, Ricky and his wife, Doreen; a sister, Judy Hyde and her husband, Buddy, and many nieces and nephews. William Ray Fleming William Ray Fleming, 71, of Liberty Towers in Clarion, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004 at the Clarion Hospital. Richard J. O'Neil Richard J. O'Neil, 54, of 323 Causeway Drive, Franklin, died at 2:30 a.m. Oct. 30, 2004 at St. Vincent Health Care. Born Sept. 12, 1950 in Franklin, he was the son of Ida J. Kiesel and Carl E. O'Neil, Sr. Mr. O'Neil was retired from Polk Center after 25 years as a dietary worker. He was a member of A.S.C.M.E. Union. Mr. O'Neil was a big Steelers fan. He enjoyed people and his friends. Surviving are a son, James R. O'Neil and his wife, Cassandra, of Oil City; a daughter Debbie O'Neil of Oil City, and six grandchildren, Brendan O'Neil, Taylor O'Neil, Chance Rice, Desteney Rice, Beth Rice and Aundrea Shirey all of oil City. He is also survived by three brothers, Steven M. O'Neil of Franklin, Carl E. O'Neil, Jr. and his wife, Janet, of Oil City and William Paxton and his wife, Cynthia, of Oil City, and a sister, Victoria McDonald and her husband, George, of Oil City. Pae, 66, of Lincoln Court, Shippenville, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center. Born Sept. 4, 1938 in Dauphin, he was the son of the late Maurice Edward and Sadie Wright Pae. Mr. Pae was a 1956 graduate of Steelton High School. He attended the Valley Forge Military Academy for one year. He graduated from Penn State in 1956 with a bachelor of science degree in physical education. He received his masters degree from Shippensburg University. He played halfback for the Penn State football team that played in the first Liberty Bowl in 1959. He also played baseball at Penn State. Mr. Pae was a teacher and football and baseball coach in the Central Dauphin School District and at Steelton-Highspire High School. He was an assistant football and baseball coach for Clarion University, retiring as a football coach in 1987. In 1997, he retired from teaching at Clarion, where he was a professor emeritus. Mr. Pae was married July 6, 1963, to Mary Lou Herbert Pae, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Debra (Stephen) Robey of Atlanta, Ga. and Cynthia (Bryan) Pae-Moebius of Atlanta; two brothers, Robert Pae of Dauphin and Michael Pae of Dauphin, and many nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. A funeral memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Hart Chapel on the Clarion campus with the Rev. Rick Harry officiating. The Goble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests memorials be made to the Clarion University athletics or a charity of one's choice. Rae-Kathryn Lawson Penix Rae-Kathryn Lawson Penix, 35, of Detroit, Mich., formerly of Oil City, died in her sleep of a massive stroke Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004 at her home. Mrs. Penix was born April 22, 1969 in Franklin. She lived and attended schools in Oil City until 1982. At the age of 13, she moved with her mother to Detroit where she resided until her death. She is survived by her husband, Jason Penix, Sr.; a daughter, Ashley, and two sons, Denzel and Jason Jr., all of Detriot. Also surviving are her father and step-mother, Albert and Nancy Lawson of Oil City; her mother, Lydia Polley of Detroit; a brother, Albert Lawson, Jr. of Midland; a sister, Cynthia Polley of California; a step-sister, Missy Ciko of Stubenville, Ohio; her maternal grandmother, Thelma Polley; two nephews, Jalen Lawson and Tyler (Ciko) Nesbitt, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Mrs. Penix was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Donald and Bennie Lawson and her paternal grandfather, Raymond Polley. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29 at Chenault Funeral Home in Detroit with the Rev. Shelton E. Matthews officiating. Ellwood "Woody" K. Rhoads Ellwood "Woody" K. Rhoads, 63, of 5 Woodbine Drive, Greenville, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004 at UPMC Horizon in Greenville, Mercer County. Born April 26, 1941 in New Bethlehem, he was the son of Kenneth E. and Josephine Space Rhoads. Mr. Rhoads was employed for five years at Wickes Lumber in Saegertown and for 12 years as an electricity, plumbing and heating manager at Carter Lumber in Jamestown before retiring. Mr. Rhoads was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church in Greenville. He was a former Jamestown Lions Club member. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed bowling in Greenville Bowling Lanes Thursday night league. Mr. Rhoads was married on Oct. 21, 1963 to Rosemary Constable Rhoads, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Becky (Douglas) Hilditch of Indiana and Kristina Rhoads-McCartney of Greenville; a son, Ellwood "Chip" Rhoads of Greenville; six grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Rhoads of Leeper and Sally (Michael) Jaquish of Cary, N.C.; two brothers, Scott F. Rhoads of Corsica and Terry L. Rhoads of Fairmont City, and his father, Kenneth Rhoads and his wife, Hope, of Clarion. He was preceded in death by his mother and a son-in-law, Bruce McCartney. Friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Randall Funeral Home, 416 Liberty St., Jamestown. A vigil service will be held at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Margaret Roman Catholic Church in Jamestown with the Rev. Mark O' Hern officiating. Interment will be in Hadley Cemetery in Hadley. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Michael Renovation Fund, 85 North High St., Greenville. Newell services changed David Clyde Newell, 98, of Ocala, Fla., died at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at the Oakwood Nursing Center in Ocala. Funeral services for Mr. Newell will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Oil City Salvation Army.
