Lebanon. Born January 17, 1896, in Shippenville, he was the son of Lewis Addison and Mae Baker Dovenspike, He married Ruth Carolyn Dovenspike in 1918. She died in 1965. Mr. Dovenspike was retired from Clarion Newspapers and had formerly worked for PennDOT. He was well- known thoughout the area as a poet having published poems in The Derrick and The Clarion News and was noted for his anthologies. Mr. Dovenspike was a member of the Shippenville Methodist Church and taught Sunday school classes at that church for several years. He was also a member of the Lion's Club of Clarion. Survivors include a son Dr. William Lewis Dovenspike of Greensburg; a sister, Mrs. Geraldine Hach of Shippenville; a brother Garliand Dovenspike of Florida, three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Friends may call from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm today at the Gerald L. Goble Funeral Home, where services will be held at 2 pm Thursday with three ministers, Rev. John Boor of Youngwood Methodist Church, Dr. Kenneth Rutter of Greensburg First United Methodist Church and Rev. Jack L. Reaugh of the Shippenville Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Shippen Cemetery at Shippenville.
